Aidells caramelized onion meatballs (frozen section) are awesome too! Made with chicken.

    Any More Sixties?

Nice post Gman. You are always counting your blessings. We have a work ethic that cannot be taught. I too, thank God I can breathe now without grabbing those asthma inhalers that did not seem to work anyway. Happy Easter to you and your family, and everyone here.

    Day 3 and so uncomfortable!

Applesauce (unsweetened) is good to take the meds with. Also, beware of those fruit juices and the sugar in them. Loving Crystal Light.

Got approval, so now I'm back

Good luck! You have done great already on your weight loss!

    Why why why!

I would slow down on the mashed potatoes and start getting in the Protein. Are you following a meal plan from your surgeon? Are you drinking Protein shakes?

    Chicken broth?

unjury.com. However, be forewarned that you add it to heated Water, not HOT water, or it clumps and is nasty. I bought a box of packages of the soup mix and a jar of the soup powder also. It sits here because I cannot stand lukewarm soup and I cannot stand clumpy soup.

    Chicken broth?

I think broths are on most every surgeon's diet plan, pre surgery and post op. Did you get a plan from your medical team? Even 5 months sleeved, we still have broth.

    im missing eating

I have found that if you sit around and do not keep your mind occupied you worry more about food. I try to keep busy. Works for me.

    Feeling Yucky

Anything and everything is to be expected. It is all posted here. Nausea is addressed here more than anything. You just had surgery. Relax and keep reading. Read the topics how to combat the nausea. I never had any but I feel your pain. Happy Easter and count those blessings. Good luck!

    Day 3 and so uncomfortable!

We are all so different. My husband and I are 67 and had absolutely no issues. We sipped, and did not eat much after surgery, mostly broth. Rested a few days and shopped til I dropped 4 days after surgery. I would recommend rest and relax. One day at a time.

    3 months out

Cheers! Whatever works. I agree our bodies are different and so long as we get there we can do separate paths. Proud for you! My husband is down 65 lbs since surgery in December.

    Spicy food

5 months sleeved and we have been eating spicy 3 months with no problem. I make mini muffin meatloaves (ground beef mixed with lots of spicy salsa), we use hot sauce, chili, mexican refried Beans with salsa, Wholly Guacomole. Keep trying small bites when you can.

Has anyone tried the Quest bars?

I have about 20 I wish I had not bought. I can eat 2 bites and that is it. Very dense. String cheese is a great take along, or a few small pretzels. You can also take an insulated bag with yogurt for emergency. I find that if we eat a snack before we leave we go all day without being hungry. Fantastic!!!!!

Counting blessings. I will read every post

Easter is a special time to give extra thanks for our new lives. My husband has a bounce in his step that I have not seen since I met him in 1991. He told me recently that he was harshly judged his entire life for being overweight. He was a fat baby. I am extra thankful for his happiness with his new body.

    Really need some support

My husband decided he would tell no one. I told my 49 y/o daughter, and a nurse friend, and my niece who had gastric bypass many years ago. He did not tell his 30 y/o son. Today I am thankful we did not share this surgery because I do not want it to be a topic of our neighbors we socialize with occasionally, when just losing weight has made them gush and give unwanted attention, telling others, on and on. Just gets ridiculous after awhile. We just say we have dieted, which is very true. People post here they told one co-workerm, now the whole company knows. Nature of the beast I guess, gossip. Good luck, great support here!

    I'm so regret!

Everyone needs to read a ton of information on WLS so that they know what can happen. Maybe you will deter someone from the pitfalls of the surgery. At 26 you might have been able to work out and lose weight. At 67, I cannot do the exercise. Risking surgery is not for the faint of heart. I hope your sickness is a temporary thing and that you feel better soon. I read a lot of posts and there are a lot of people who have problems. Anyone reading this should be sure they are prepared for what can happen.

After three days I'm still ticked at my husband!

I agree with PDXman! Let him see how you really feel and maybe it won't ever happen again. Congratulations on your Anniversary!

When do you know that youre full?

We Barely get the hiccups now at 5 months post sleeve surgery. I will share the best advice our surgeon gave us. He said do not eat 3 meals a day. Eat only when you are hungry. He gave us no Protein, calorie, or carb diet, and said make healthy choices. I keep healthy foods in the fridge, such as salmon, boiled eggs, chicken salad, tuna salad, tossed salads, cole slaw, rotisserie chicken, and I cook vegetables. My husband eats when he wants, I eat when I want. We still snack on SF popsicles. I cook no bread or Pasta. Because of diabetes we choose to eat this way and it works for us. I eat yogurt for Breakfast only because of taking medicines. I recommend eating on saucers and getting used to it. Because once you eat what is on that saucer you do not need your body to tell you that you are full. You should be full.

    Dont feel prepared

I remember when my husband and I went to the meet with the coordinator and the wait was several months. Bah humbug, we wanted it now lol. But I remember telling my husband well, we can proceed and go with the program, OR six months is going to come and go anyway so we might as well get with the program. Cannot believe it will be one year in June from our seminar now, and we are 5 months sleeved!

    Doubting...please help

At almost 300 lbs. your weight is a bigger risk if you do not have surgery, for something to affect your health. It was scary having the surgery, but scarier not having the surgery (sleeve). My husband was 320 lbs. He could barely drag himself around and depression ruled our lives with our health. No more!

    Comorbidities and surgery

I also have a stent....what did they do to clear him for surgery? Just curious....my treadmills come out abnormal...becaus I have a small artery that cant be stented....but I dont want another angiogram if I can help it....Thanks! He goes to his heart doctor regularly who had always told him he would clear him for surgery, which is what he did. I had a stress test. Cleared for surgery immediately. My husband had a small artery too that could not be stented, ?15 years ago. Talk to your doctor. This surgery is laparoscopic and I was shopping in 3 days. 24 hours in the hospital and took one dose of pain med at home. Good luck!

    Comorbidities and surgery

My husband and I were sleeved. Ten years of "thinking" about it. We are 67. He was 320, and is 6'2". He is a 30+ years diabetic, sleep apnea, heart stent, cellulitis in his legs, terrible swelling in his ankles, back problems, high blood pressure. He is now 250 lbs, almost 5 months post op, A1C has gone hugely down, off some BP meds now (was on 3 kinds), his ankles are skinny, and he is feeling fantastic compared to pre-surgery. I gained 30 lbs with meds last year which put me to 230 at 5'4", with HBP, asthma, knee replacement, diabetes. I am off Metformin, use no asthma inhalers now, can breathe again, and off 1 BP med. My husband would have never had this surgery if I had not decided I was doing it for my life and my health, but he followed me into it and he is glad he did. I knew he would not live long without this surgery. We spent last year in recliners. We just booked a 7 day cruise, are travelling to New Orleans, Pensacola, Kansas and West Virginia by August and loving our new lives. I was more scared of us dying without the sleeve. We would do it again in a heartbeat! I have gone from a 2X to size 12 in 5 months.
