    Help!

Not sure you should be having fruit in a smoothie either. We were told to wait 3 months for fruit. Just keep up the broths, strained soups, SF popsicles. We have been where you are and done all this. Best of luck.
  2. Why did you have surgery if you are going to jeopardize your health this way. Very dangerous. At 5 weeks I choked on a tiny piece of soft crockpot chicken. It felt like a HEART ATTACK. Please tell me you are not bragging here, and leading people to think they can endanger their lives by doing what you are doing. Just do not post if you want to lead people to do something to jeopardize their life. This is a serious surgery with serious consequences. Good luck and re-think.

    Question!?!

Thank you. I too hope you and your family and friends are safe and not much damage. Stuff can be replaced. God Bless!

    Question!?!

I had a death in the family this week and my daughter is flooded 3 feet inside her new dream home of several months in Pensacola, 5 hours from me. I found myself extremely agitated and wanting to eat, whereas one day at ICU this week with my loved one, I did not eat all day. Stress and worry will still make us want to turn to that comfort of food. Please remember to distract yourself when things happen, because life is full of stress. I hate shopping, and it is raining several days, so I did my favorite thing and went shopping for books and "finds" at large consignment shops. You really have to be mindful that sitting around is not good. Worked like a charm.

    I've Stalled @ week 6 post - surger

If you read enough here you read the word STALL every single day. I read about it and knew about it before it happened. It is what it is. Eat right and healthy. Follow your plan.

    Struggling 1 month out

The weight will not fall off in a month and life be perfect. This is a process we are all going through and no one can help us except ourselves. We just have to be here for support and words of experience which has helped me tremendously. It took me several months to solve the constipation problems. You will still have stress, family to take care of, jobs to get to, but life will get better and you will feel better down the road a bit. No magic pill was given to us. Relax, breathe, and it will get better!!!

questions about some pain 10 days post op

Foods/liquids sit funny in your chest sometimes. It passes. If not call the doctor. Sometimes the uncomfortable feeling would last a day or so. Five months post op I still get that feeling sometimes but not often.
  8. For the first time ever I seriously wonder what is going on here when someone posts that they have had a bad experience in Mexico and the topic is LOCKED BY MR. BRECHER.

    LOCKED TOPICS DAYUM

My mistake. I just saw red letters that said "locked".
  10. At about 3 weeks after surgery we were on pureed and soft foods, mostly soups, broth, and shakes. Most everyone goes through this. So you are not alone. You have lost 46 lbs., and that has to be so worth it. At about 4 weeks I was "tasting" a spoonful of FF refried Beans, just little bites. I was also told I could eat very soft well cooked chicken in a crockpot, and I choked on the small piece of chicken and had such pain I thought it was a heart attack. Moral of my story I recommend you be patient, don't try to overdo it, and nibble some soft food here and there, to see how you are going to do. Best wishes! Chew those sugar free popsicles too, they are awesome!

    I'm Ready

You have a lot of obstacles but like most of us, you can overcome. Mt husband and I are 67. We have the heart problems, diabetes, asthma, knee replacement, back problems, neurological problems, HBP, so what are you waiting for? To get where we are? 5 months post sleeve we are "slim" smiling, happy, lost a total of (jointly) 140 lbs. Life is short. Live it. I wish you the best.

    How long off work?

I am 67. I was walking the mall 5 days after surgery. Slowly, but for several hours. Good grief LOL. But then again I worked 47 years and had minimal days off in my lifetime. Doing it over, I would have taken off work 6 months every year lol!

    Has anyone experience thining hair?

Problem is the NUT says you are eating too much Protein (me). hair now coming out at 5+ months. So the Biotin has not helped my hair or my nails LOl but I am coping with it all. It might be worse without the Biotin? I could care less, I feel great. There are great wigs if it gets worse.

    Has anyone experience thining hair?

Most of us have lost hair. Many posts here. Buy a wig, cut your hair; rather have thin hair and be thin lol!!!

    Protien only?

Yes, just google PB2 and read about it.
  18. LindafromFlorida

    Protien only?

Yes, with the peanut butter. I only found it at Walmart. It is in a plastic jar about the size of a large spice container.

    Pre-op appointment was today...

Getting to the beach might be a little rough 1-2 weeks post op, since you cannot lift anything (like chair, cooler) but if you can get there you will love it! I shopped the mall 5 days after surgery. Walked slow but felt great! Good luck.

    Back to work-Nosey co-workers

This is my point exactly in people trusting co-workers. Even HR, which males me ILL.

18 and getting sleeved within the next 5 months

I understand what you are saying but i would much rather live a healthier life without eating all of that greasy bad food than live a life ruining my body (which should go for everyone). Plus i don't even eat very many unhealthy foods, I've always been healthy but it had never reflected on the outside because of other problems so i have looked at this surgery as a last resort to a healthy life, we humans often forget that we eat to live not live to eat. But thank you for your concern. I understand completely. My husband has lived his entire life being overweight, from a baby. He suffered so much, and was so judged by people. He did Optifast twice in his life and lost 100 lbs, then had a heart attack. I applaud your courage, and I know this can work for you like it has for us. It will take at least 4 months post sleeve for you to get your bearings with food. I wish you a lifetime of looking good and not living your life being overweight. I was 50 when I lost the battle of the weight and my health declined rapidly. Cheers to a sweeter life! Linda

Eat on a schedule or when hungry?

Our surgeon gave us the best advice ever. He said do not eat 3 meals a day, eat only when you are hungry, and really hungry. This works so well for us because we were both sleeved. I keep things such as fresh guacamole, chicken salad, cole slaw, string cheese, boiled eggs, tuna salad, in the fridge for a bite or two during the day, and at 5 months post sleeve we are having a light meal a day, such as the Greek salad we shared for dinner last night. We take good Vitamins, our labwork has been great. I have found the more I eat the hungrier I seem to get. I was told at 3 months out to back off eating so much Protein, to drink no more Protein shakes, so I make sure I have veggies added in daily now.

    Returning to work

I am 67. I was grocery shopping in 3 days and at the mall in 5 days, walking a few hours. I could have worked my desk job in a week. I took 1 dose of pain med at home after 24 hours in the hospital. I drove 2 days after surgery but I was not on medication. I felt so great I just wanted to go.
  24. LindafromFlorida

    Soft veggies

Still be cautious. At 5 weeks out I cooked crockpot soft chicken breast in a FF mushroom sauce. I choked on it and thought I was dying of a heart attack. That is why the warning about carrots or broccoli. My husband chews so slowly I cannot figure out how he does it. I am not so fortunate.

18 and getting sleeved within the next 5 months

I would add, not to be negative, just realistic, do you know for sure you can give up french fries, a hamburger from a fast food place, pizza, macaroni and cheese, soda, alcohol, fried chicken, biscuits, and that sort of food the rest of your lives? Please do a ton of research here because you seem to be very young and this is not an easy journey for any of us. I wish you all the best. I have dieted my entire life and everyone in my family has been overweight. I wish you good guidance and the best!
