    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

So, just got the call from Aetna Medicare Advantage that I am APPROVED! It only took 6 days...rather shocked. My assigned advocate should let me know later today what my surgery date will be. Eeek! Happening sooner than I had thought, but less time for worrying.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hi, all I am 66 and in San Antonio. I have been considering wls for years, and seem to have gotten up one morning a few weeks ago and said "this is it!" I have been a tennis player, but haven't been able to play for about four years due to knee problems. Had a knee replacement last Nov, but feel too big to get back to playing. Sure looking forward to it next spring. I seem to be a "fast track" person...just needed the Psych, one NUT visit and two year weight history. Just waiting on the psych report to be faxed, which should be mid next week. My insurance usually approves quickly, so I may have a date in a couple weeks. Pretty sure it will be early Dec, although could happen last week of Nov. Surgeon is Dr Mickey Seger, BMI.

    Joint replacement surgery

I am pre op. But I had a knee replacement about a year ago. My surgeon really wanted a BMI below 40-I was close. I am so glad I had it done. I had the right knee and was driving in two weeks. I had two weeks of home based PT, three weeks of out patient and I was good. That experience helped me decide to get the sleeve. I figured that if I could do a knee replacement I could certainly do a sleeve. I do advise an experienced surgeon that does the minimally invasive surgery that goes between...and doesn't cut...the quads.
  4. There is a Revision procedure called the ROSE procedure that is done through the mouth and touts no incisions. Kinda ewww!
