    Alcohol

NSAIDS are banned for me too. Unless a rare occasion and even then, closely supervised. They can cause bleeding ulcers. I personally know two people who had that problem. I was given a list of drugs that fell into that category and told to avoid. I was prescribed lortab liquid for post op. 15 mil worked quite well for me. That said, I'd ask your surgeon.

    Marriage Problems 2 Mo. Out

I am sitting here reading this and thinking of my dear friend who was in a similar situation and wishing I had offered the same excellent advice you are receiving here... What a wonderful support group, in my opinion offering excellent advice. With your newfound energy and renewed sense of self, invest some time in your marriage. Plan a weekend away in a romantic setting. Focus on where you are, how you got there, and the success of your family. You may be amazed how easy it is to rejuvenate a sleepy, yet functional, marriage with a night at a hotel, some good wine, a long conversation over a meal and pillow talk. Do remember that he was your friend before he became your husband and the father to your children. Take the time to go back to where your relationship started. Best of luck to you and your family. I am so happy for your personal success and wish you much luck in your future. Your family is worth whatever effort you put into it... All you advice givers are amazing!

    Sleeping On Your Side Again?!

I have such envy of those of you able to roll to your side and be comfortable! Sleeping on my side in my bed will be a major milestone!
  6. My surgeon recommends the binder to support your core and to help prevent hernias. When they pump you full of gas, there is extra room in your cavity. It sure helps when walking, etc. I take it off to shower and it feels amazing when I put it back on. I'd suggest that you purchase one if they are not provided.

    Sleeping On Your Side Again?!

I am so envious!!! I am five days out, and laying flat and on my side is unimaginable. You are super lucky.

    "cream Soups"

I was just finishing a very small amount of cream of asparagus. It was tasty. I split it into individual servings so I would not eat too much. The hardest part is remembering to not drink and eat together.

    Terrified Of Eating Out!

I'm just sleeved so I'm not going out any time soon. My sleeved friend gave me great advice. She said to look up the menu before going out. Then find exactly what you want and know what you can eat/ tolerate. That way you know in advance what to get and you can look forward to your meal. Her favorite thing is a shrimp Louis. She eats all the shrimp and then a little of the salad. Sounds perfect to me. My husband and I will share meals. He thinks he will lose weight. A "two for the price of one" kind of deal. Lol And who cares If others notice how little you eat? This is all about me/us/you! Don't be a hermit.

    Sleeping On Your Side Again?!

I am five days out and still cannot. My biggest problem is leveraging myself up and out of bed. My stomach has zero core strength at this time. I feel that burn in that one incision as I try to tug myself up. It is funny how I just need the smallest bit of resistance to rise. I just need a hand to help me get to end of seat/bed then I rise easily. I CANNOT wait until that is effortless.

Hey Guys I Need Some Advice....

I want to tell you what you want to hear, but I am hoping to be honest instead... In my opinion, you should be doing this to improve your health and quality of life. Doing it because you don't like your body is going to make it tough to stick with it. This is major surgery and you will need a support system. My husband of many years loves me unconditionally. He was fearful of the surgery because he didn't think I needed it. I spent a lot of time explaining why I needed it and what I was going to do to make sure it worked for me. I think you should take him to a support group. See the folks who have had it done and hear their stories. Bottom line is this isn't for him. It is for you! You do what is best for YOU. Best of luck to you!
  12. My surgery was Wednesday. I have tried to lay in bed but my stomach hurts when I roll over to my side. Getting up from laying flat was painful as I cannot use my core at all to rise. I sleep reclined and cannot wait to lay flat on my side w/o discomfort. I hope tonight is my last night reclined...
  13. For nausea, request the patch prior to surgery. It lasts for three days. Also, if the narcotics make you ill, ask for nausea medicine at the same time you receive them. I have been very ill with c sections and not a second of nausea with the above precautions. Good luck! It was my fear as well..

  15. I was sleeved on 11/13 at 2:00 pm. I was wheeled to my room at aprox 4:30. I did not have a catheter and immediately had to use the rest room. I was given the option of bed pan or walk. I chose to walk. I had someone help me get up and made it to the bathroom. I them ambled back to bed for a few hours and then was able to get up and use the bathroom independently and made it a point to walk every time I had to use the bathroom. I had gas and it was painful. The walking helped out a lot. I got to know the other patients as I did my laps. There was no question I was ready to go home when I could walk, use the restroom, get dressed and not use much of the pain meds. I can't lie... It hurts. It's major surgery, but I knew what to expect and muddled through it. You can do this! Hope for the best, prepare for the worst... Best of luck to you. You will be home resting and healing in no time.
  16. Good quality, low sugar, Greek yogurt is a good protein source. Look for one that is smooth. No chunks. If you can only find unflavored, add a bit of stevia to make it a bit more palatable. Take small bites and "melt" it on your tongue. I have lemon and it is tasty.

    New Sleeve Chest Pain

Are you using the spirometer? Is it at a good number? Try a heating pad on you abdomen. I hear that helps too. My dr was against gas x. Wanted it to come out with walking. Said that if a strip relieved the pain folks became sedentary. So keep walking! I hope your pain eases quickly as it is wicked.

    Sleeved This Morning. Nov 13

I was released early yesterday. Came home and sipped and walked. Took a shower today and washed my hair and removed my five bandages. I feel great! I know how lucky I am and I am so appreciative. I needed help getting the binder back on but all in all, pretty independent. I hope others are doing as well...

    November buddies where are you?

Hello- I had a late surgery so I was in the hospital for two days. I am home walking and resting. I would have no problem with visitors now. As for thanksgiving, I learned that we all heal differently and there were a few folks sleeved the same day and they were not moving as well as I. It will really be a day-to-day call for you. I know if you feel like I do, thanksgiving visitors will be welcome! That said, we are all different. Best of luck to you!

    November buddies where are you?

Sleeved two days ago. I am home, doing very well and sipping and walking and sipping and walking... I feel blessed as all things considered, things are going very well. No pain except when gas rears its ugly head. I do have an abdominal binder on and that really helps with comfort.
