Isn't that just for RNY bypass because of the malabsorption??

OH MY GOD! You sound just like ME!! Seriously, I know exactly how you feel. I was initially so excited about this, but have now gotten very nervous. What will it be like NOT to be the fat, funny girl?? What if people don't like the new me? What if I don't like the new me? What if, god forbid, something happens to me in surgery!?? It doesn't sound psycho to me at all! It sounds like normal nerves to me. Hey, I'm thinking crazy like this AND I have my psych eval on Thursday. Oh Oh!! I think it would be weird if we didn't have these thoughts! Good for you to be pursuing this life-changing procedure! I look forward to hearing more about your journey!!

I am now considering WLS only because I gained 10 pounds due to stress and am considered "morbidly" obese (BMI 40.2 or something). I totally understand how you feel, but it's amazing what hearing those words and having them written into my medical chart did to me. So, it doesn't seem silly to me. I always said I'd never have a bypass, but a day after my fateful doc appt, I saw a LapBand commercial and started doing research. I do agree, if you feel like you'll just keep getting bigger, do something now, it'll only get harder! Good luck!!

Hi all! I'm from Minnesota and I'm in the "testing" stage of the pre-op. I have my psych set up, as well as UGI and Pulmonary consult (asthma). I'm currently studying for my boards (just finished nurse practitioner school) and I'm not sure if that's why I'm not concentrating on this as much as I was before, or if I'm having cold feet. It's pretty scary to think about doing this! Ugh! I just wish I knew if it was the right decision! :nervous

Thanks Katie! I think my test is interfering with my ability to focus on many things, including my weight loss journey. I am currently trying to lose some of the weight my surgeon would like me to take off and getting the preop stuff done, so once this darn test is done, I think I'll be excited about it again! I've actually done quite a bit of research and WAS very excited but have gotten bogged down in studying. I think I'll feel better in about two weeks!
