Ugh, I sent in for my fmla, and my short term disability on the 6th and 9th respectively. It has been 10 days since I filed the forms with the surgeons office to approve my fmla through my job and my job has done nothing, Nothing to it at all. Without those forms I can't get approved for my short term disability. I'm about to go up there and raise he'll since they were getting snippy with me about filing the forms in the first place.

There are foam things you can buy to help alleviate pain. Often there are in medical supply stores. I often see them with wheel chair bound patients to perserve their skin. I would look into that.
-
Congrats! Can't wait to get there either. How far out are you? What was your starting weight/surgery weight?
-
I felt a million times better after they got rid of the pain pump. It was making me dizzy, nauseated, and light headed. As soon as it was out of my system I immediately felt better and the liquid pain meds did an effective enough job to keep the pain at bay. I actually told my surgeon I wanted the pca gone because I think it was causing all those problems for me. I got it out half an hour later.

I agree with Beni, I just has my first "meal" since surgery, it was 1/2C of cottage cheese and I still didn't eat all of it. That was an experience, one I probably won't ever forget.
-
Okay, so today I get to eat things. It was like heaven opened up its gates and shined down upon me. I played it safe and mashed up some cottage cheese with salt and pepper and took a little longer than 30 minutes to eat it because I was also feeding my kids. I've noticed before surgery that my nose runs when I'm full, well it did that today and I stopped shy of 1/2C of food. I used a small saucer type plate and mashed up the meal looked huge to me. I know when I have more regular food it will look smaller but I know my tummy isn't all that big anymore. The NUT said I could go to 3/4 C but I don't know how I'd be able to do that at this point. It is lovely to not be ruled by the hormone that makes you hungry.

Bronx, I think they fixed my period too, it was so heavy, now it is lighter and I haven't gained at all, I lost a few pounds since it's come. I usually gain 5+lbs, and I swear the staff must have thought I was lying one time except I came back 2 weeks after I had it and was down 3-4lbs.

Same shirt, just fyi.

So mini 2 week update. I just measured myself again along with my weight. Going by my scale weight I told you all at 245 lbs I'm down to 233lbs, so that a net 12 lbs loss. Then based off my measurements I've lost 113/4 inches, 3 inches from my bust and 2 inches off the hips was the most amount loss with about an inch loss from everywhere else. I'm hoping I'm not losing all my boobs because they were what I was proud of being as big as I am.

Intro / questions (long)
AuriP replied to BeardedEagle90's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Neither are reversible but with the rny you will still have all of your stomach incase something happens you still have healthy tissue to use. Not wishing anything bad to happen to anyone. Also if you have Gerd or acid reflux the sleeve may make it worse. -
That stuff seriously made me nauseated. I nearly lost it after I had to drink it. The after taste is worse, felt like it coated my tongue.
-
No complications for me amylynns, although I still had the band placed before he did the rny. They said there was some scar tissue but it wasn't as bad as they expected it to be. They had me booked for a whole lot longer than I was actually in there for. They had me booked from 7:30 am to 1:30pm but I was out by 11am. I didn't have a slip or a prolapse of any kind before hand and it was still the same. I originally wanted the sleeve but my doctor said that I would most likely get the same results that I have had with the band and come back for a 3rd surgery later. I only lost 25lbs the first time. I hope you make the decision that is right for you. In all honesty I wish I had gone with the sleeve or bypass over the band in the first place. I didn't have any drains, no tube feeding placed, I have been on the same process as those who are virgin surgeries. Hope I helped.

You are correct Amylynns. I did have the revision.

How many weeks did you take off?
AuriP replied to Hannah Melinda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 weeks minimum. I'm a cna at a hospital and need to be able to lift more than 10 lbs and my surgeon won't give me clearance until at least then. My muscles still feel strained now at nearly 2 weeks post op, I'm hoping to feel better by the weekend. -
I had to drink this gross water soluable stuff. They take you to X Ray to view it go down the pouch.
-
I'm 2 weeks out tomorrow and have lost 11 lbs total. I would say it's pretty normal at this point.

Well, it's weird she said that I will really start losing once I'm able to eat more food. She said that she can eat pretty much anything she wants, she doesn't dump but still stays away from super sugary things, like frosting off of cake, super sugary teas, Kool-aid, and she waters down her juices. She stays on program for the most part, she doesn't eat regular bread but crackers and flat bread. She got sick off of Chinese food paired with drinking water right after. She still has restriction this far out, in spaghetti she used to eat a bunch of noodles and 5 meat balls, now she eats half a cup of noodles and 2 meat balls. Soft foods go down easier for her and she can eat more than a cup of that (just an fyi). This far out her life is pretty much like everyone else's in terms of food, just has built in portion control that we all don't have now. She has had only 1 stuck episode that was with taco salad too soon, she has since been able to eat it okay.

The reality is scary. Sooner Sx date.. Last meal?
AuriP replied to Lost1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should do it the night before your 10 day pre op diet. -
1 day left and I get to eat something other than soup! Yay! Down 11 lbs as of this morn. My friend came to visit yesterday. She told me lots of info, ways to eat soft foods. How she messed up sometimes. It was nice to hear, she has successfully kept off 200+lbs for 5 years now.

Good luck Smiley922.

I think it went away on its own. The meds weren't doing much to it, I also changed up my protein to see if that was causing it as well. So far so good, another day of no nausea.
-
I'm 2 days post op. I'm home but I am having some bouts of nausea. The nausea is worse then the pain for me. When did your nausea go away?
-
I'm far behind you, still in the full liquid phase but 1/4 cup is usually considered 2 oz, 1/2C is 4 oz, 3/4C is 6 oz and obviously 1 is 8 oz. What I plan on doing is buying a food scale, that might help you to get the required amount of food accurately. Hope I helped some.

Hey, hey. October 2nd here. So waiting for Thursday to actually be on pureed food. Spaghetti was for dinner tonight, I am so sad.

My bowel prep was that $1 magnesium stuff at Walmart and clear liquid diet.
