I only have a pre op diet for the day before surgery. However I might extend it on my own and do 5 days liquid diet, 4 days full with 1 day clear for the day before surgery. Today is my last day of work until my surgery, YAY! HOwever my middle child's birthday party is this weekend. Im going to try really, really hard to not over do anything. I am going on my liquid fest on Sunday. 7 days until my Surgery, Can't wait for it all to be over.

Hey Amylynns, yes I'm it removed and RNY all at once. My surgeon never specified that he wouldn't be able to do it, my band has not slipped even though I was vomiting daily before the fluid was let out. I've had fluid out of the band for 7 months now so that might help with inflammation. I guess as long as I don't have extreme scar tissue it should all work out. I have friends that eat like birds and they all have been supportive and knows I'm having the surgery. I'm sure we could find plenty of things that don't revolve around food.

Looking into this journey if I have my surgery in October I will be 6 months post op when I turn 30! Just wondering what you all l p St in 6 months time? I did have the lap band back in 2009 and going in for a revision. Waiting on approval right now! I can't wait to enter my 3's much healthier than I did in my 20's

Oh I do indeed know. Lucky for me my 4 year old hates being picked up so I only have to worry about my 15 month old. The doctor told me I can only lift 20lbs and he is about the same weight give or take a pound of flux. He was also the kid I carried in a carrier so I can also place that very carefully on my back and get moving. I'm not planning on venturing out anywhere with my children until I'm 2-3 weeks post op anyway. I'm taking at least a month off so I'm trying to relax as much as possible. There is a group by month and year surgery here. You just have to look it up.

12 days! I have 12 days to come to terms with my new life. I thought I was through 5 years ago with the band alas here I am again. Good luck to you all, I know Im going to need it.

October here too, the second. From forms being submitted for aprroval and to schedule surgery date was 4 days, I have fast approval insurance. My surgeon was booked all of Spetember plus my son's 4th birthday was coming so I didn't want to be gorked out on pain meds for his day.

You two have such a thing going I dont want to disrupt it. I too am having surgery in October. The second for me. Just like amylynns I have had lap band surgery. She was more successful than I. I lost about 25 lbs, put all that back on plus 20. Sad I know. I still have the band and will revise straight to the RNY. I have 3 littles, my oldest being 8 and my youngest 15 months. My husband will be around for 2 days after my surgery but someone has to make the bacon while I'm down for the count. I should do fine with my youngest two, my 4 year old will be in preschool in the mornings so I only have to deal with them both for 4 hours each weekday as my husband gets home from work at 3 pm. I can't wait to be done with this journey and see onederland again. Good luck ladies!

This post is amazing. I'm going in 10/2 and weigh around 246- 247lbs. I have about 100 lbs to lose and this was so encouraging. Nervous as heck but so excited at the same time. You all look so wonderful! -
Mine is Oct 2nd. Can't wait until the day gets here. Good luck on your soon approaching surgery and recovery.

I think the people who have to wait are the ones with a lot of scar tissue or damage from the band itself. Yes a revision is what the procedure I'm having is called. I'm hoping one operation for mine. My surgeon didn't say he wouldn't do it in one go, he is also going to check out my gallbladder to see if that needs to come out as well. My band is still a funny acting thing even with it unfilled. I just want a normal feeling stomach once again, which is what most revised patients from lap band feel like after having the RNY. I just can't wait to be on that losers bench! -
At least 4 weeks. I'm a cna and lift heavy, I wouldn't go back before then. Even when I had the lap band and felt normal, I still took the 4 weeks. Gives you time to recover, process how you are handling things, prepare yourself for new food plans, prepares you for reactions once you go back and a host of other things.

Hi Polly, I am revising from lap band to RNY on Oct 2nd. I can hardly wait, 16 days to go. I have had the lap band since 2009 and it has been an experience, to say the least. I hope you get all the answers you need from your PA. -

I'm October 2nd here. Right now just trying to maintain my weight loss. Finding some really good protein shakes and keeping myself occupied for the next 2 1/2 weeks. So excited! -
I'm October 2nd. Can't wait, good luck to you!

Got approved today! Today is a happy day. 3 weeks until my surgery, so nervous and excited at the same time!

Update. They have finally put my stuff into insurance. Waiting on the call that I'm approved. If I am, I'm hoping for 9/30 or 10/1-10/2 date. I'm feeling better about the RNY just nervous about surgery now. So waiting to be done as even without a fill I sometimes get stuck.

Hi, All. I have the lap band placed 2009, 10cc. I had very minimal weight loss even though I was doing everything I was supposed to do. I only lost 23 lbs in the 5 months it was working for me. Having 2 children in that span has not done my body well, especially my last child since I was sick with him for the first half of my pregnancy, seriously vomitting at least once a day until 25 weeks pregnant, then have it return at 9 months pregnant. Since I have had him, I had increased problems with my band and am now in the works of getting the RNY. I am seriously scared out of my mind, the original reason for me to get the lap band was the fact that my intestines would stay right where they were made. My Dr. who I trust completely says it would be best to go with the RNY and not the sleeve. Just looking for some words of incouragement as I know there really is no turning back once I have this done. I am going foward with it as I have started to develop some knee discomforts and would rather not have to have my knees replaced before I become elderly.

I work as a CNA in a hospital. I have yet to book my surgery but I plan on taking off the day before to prepare. Because of my physically demanding job I have to stay out between 4-6weeks. It is very stressful at my job at the moment because it's been so busy and it is difficult to stay on track with all the stressers and Snacks around the place. Good luck!

As I am finishing up with things in preparation of revising from the Lap-Band to gastric bypass I was doing my psych eval. I was asked what would I want to do once I was at a healthy weight. I said the usual things of playing with my children without being overly tired, riding a roller coaster comfortably, ect. I began to really start thinking about what I really wanted to do that I never had the confidence to do due to my weight. So I wanted to ask what is some of your non scale bucket list type of things that you always wanted to do but was too weak, heavy,or embarassed of your size to do? I guess since I asked I will go first. 1) I want to do a couch to 5K run, or a color run with my daughter. 2) I have always admired dancers and have always wanted to take classes like contemporary, hip hop, ballroom dance, I want to be able to take my non dancing abilities and hone them into something amazing for me. That's all I've got for right now but would love to hear some of yours!

I don't have pcos and have had the bypass yet but losing 41lbs in less than 4 months seems like Amazing accomplishment! Keep up the good work!

Hello! I'm a revisionist too except mine is from Lap-Band. I'm sorry you have a really crazy schedule. Is there anyway your boss, or someone else in the office take your duties for the days you have scheduled? It seems that if they are going to be okay for the two weeks you are out of work that they should be able to work around your post op appointments. Also why are they scheduling your post op appointments so soon? I would have figured they would at least wait a week or two right before your surgery to schedule them since schedules can change so much in that time frame. Mine has changed 3 times for hopefully my last NUT appointment this past week alone. One more thing, can you Boss give you a half day on the appointment days? Maybe that would cut down on the snarky behavior that the staff have, personally I would be leary to work with them in the future if they are going to be nasty like that, your insurance is covering their jobs, the least they can do is be nice! It sucks when health care professionals arent being professional, being that I am one I say this with tremendious regret.

Post op hair loss, I know we will all lose some hair but I wanted to know how much you all lost. I had my last relaxer 9/13 and I transistioned until 2/14 when I did the big chop. Since I have very little hair on my head about 5" in the longest spots I don't want to be balding. It's hard to hide hair loss when you don't have that much to begin with. Was the hair loss really that bad or is it more like shedding after you have a baby when your hormones return to normal?

Since the post about an ex-friend's fat acceptance and weight loss surgery, I wanted to know what you all think about fat acceptance? Being we were/are all fat at one point in time we can understand how they feel. Some of the bloggers I have come across who promote fat acceptance seem down right mean to previously fat or fat wanting a change people( like us). It boggles my mind how they feel attacked on so many levels yet do the same to previously fat/ fat wanting to change people. If promoting self love wouldn't it be even better to promote everyone loving theirselves in all decisions they try to make even if it is something so dangerous and extreme as WLS, to make themselves feel better, and achieveing self love? Sorry for my mini rant but it seems like no matter where we turn, wls is considered the devil in action, damned if we do and damned if we don't. What are your thoughts on it?

Zip lining sounds fun! I am planning my honeymoon after 3 years finally and wouldn't mind that being on our itinerary.
