Hello, All! I was sleeved 4/4/14. My weight loss is slowing like everyone said it would. I've lost 70lbs total. I am eating about 1,000 calories a day and I journal RELIGIOUSLY so I know exactly how much is going in. My weight loss as slowed to about .5lbs a week. I am not sure if I should be eating more or less? THOUGHTS? THANKS!!!!!!

lialove started following 5 weeks post op and slow weight loss, 6 months out - Calorie range?, HAIR! and and 7 others

I have always had very thick hair and have been SHOCKED at how much hair I have lost, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down which worries me even more. I bought some hair extensions (luxy) which have been helpful but if I keep losing at this rate I will not be able to use them and will need a wig, as well. I have been really surprised by how dramatic this had been. I also take my Vitamins religiously and eat 75-80 grams of Protein a day. Hope it will slow down soon and the regrowth will start!!!!!!!

Constipation keeps returning
lialove replied to AR40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have struggled with this ever since surgery, as well. I have just made stool softeners a part of my pill routine. I take three every night and if I don't go int he morning I take MOM on top of it. I had some horribly excruciating BMs and I swore I would never let myself get to that point again. -

16 days out and back in the ICU
lialove replied to photochick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry to hear this! I also ended back in the ICU but for a leak and sepsis. It is so awful. ON top of the regular recovery you have so much extra work that your body is doing to get better. Be kind to yourself. Sleep A LOT. Watch really bad daytime TV and remember that slowly but surely you will feel better. I'll be rooting for you! -
I have PCOS and I am losing. Like everyone else, I am eating almost no refined carbs, but I eat an occasional piece of fruit. I had a big stall but I am still losing much more than I ever have and I am only 2 months out.

What did your NUTs or Dr.s say about alcohol? When are you all allowed to have a drink? Recognizing that they are empty calories, etc, I do like an occasional glass of wine. Just curious what everyone else's teams have said. Thanks!

5 days out... too nervous?
lialove replied to Sleevie_Nicks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a leak. This is what happens. I got a fever of 104 and had convulsions on my way to the hospital If you are not convulsing and don't have a fever, you don't have a leak You are just feeling the normal post recovery feelings. I still get a few pangs from time to time and I am almost two months out and trust me when I tell you that I had a HORRIBLE recovery, but am feeling pretty good now. You're ok. The amount they tell you to drink is a goal, you won't get there for a while. Keep trying, but don't push yourself so hard that it hurts. That'll just set you back and make you anxious. Stay strong! It'll get better! -

5 weeks post op and slow weight loss
lialove replied to Tammylb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been stalled for two and a half weeks!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I know if I just stick with the program I will get moving again, but I understand your frustration. I have been pretty bummed about the slow loss, but I remember reading somewhere that another person who experienced the same thing felt like the sleeve was what kept her moving through the plateaus and without it, pre sleeve, she would have given up and gone back to her bad eating. That's what I am banking on. It's hard to go back to Doritos with this new tummy 1-2 pounds a week is good and healthy and ultimately your skin will look better than if you lost it faster -
I have had this issue, too. THings I think are going to taste great taste terrible and it's like my sense of smell is on overdrive! Everything smells awful to me, too! I was thinking it was a combo of ketosis and maybe the prilosec?

Trying not to freak out...
lialove replied to SparkleCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, Sparkle THis has been an incredibly difficult journey for me and my family. I got a low grade fever this weekend and ended up back in the ER. I didn't get admitted this time, thank God! It ended up being some areas of Fluid collection that were not infected, but were pushing on my chest. Doc says we are not going back in, going to wait and let my body absorb them. In the meantime, very uncomfortable. I keep myself sane by keeping a daily log where I write all of my meds and what time I take them, what I eat and when, how I am feeling and any other symptoms. Then, if I am anxious about something, I have a record of everything and I call the Dr's office, that way THEY can decide if I need to be seen or not. I am going to try going back to work tomorrow and I am so nervous. I don't know how I am going to keep it together all day, but I guess I can't put it off for forever! Anyone who says this is the easy way to lose weight should be punched I'm glad we all have this forum for support. I know I have needed it a lot lately. -

Trying not to freak out...
lialove replied to SparkleCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 4/4 and everything was fine. I went home and a week later I had a fever of 104 and convulsions. I ended up back in the ER and was admitted to the ICU for 11 days and had two surgeries to correct the leak they found. Trust me when I tell you that if you had a leak, you would know it I DO understand the anxiety. Every gas pain, every twinge makes me terrified I am going to end up back in the hospital. I get really bad indigestion and I am always terrified it means that the leak opened back up. I don't regret the surgery because I know that I did it for all the right reasons, but I have to actively stay focused on the good things (down over 30 lbs in a month - then again - I was hospitalized and off all fluids and food for over a week!). You're fine, I'm sure, but keep in touch with your Dr's office and they will let you know if anything is wrong.
