  1. Hi all! I'm so freaking excited to get this show started! I have an appointment with my surgeon and while I feel super prepared with all the research I have done, is there one question you wished you would have asked that maybe you didn't at your fist appointment? I want to make sure I have all my bases covered so I can get a date ASAP.
  2. And *this* is exactly how my family will react, and I'm in no way, shape or form going to subject myself to that. Just when you think you know someone, especially family, it backfires. Thankfully, my family is 3+ hrs away, and my husband will be the only person to know. To the OP, I probably won't be approved until January, so I plan on telling people that I finally committed to a New Years Resolution. Working out, smaller portions, cleaner eating, etc.

  5. Hi ladies! I'm still pre-op, but I'm thinking ahead...because all I can think about lately is having this surgery and how my life will change and how I want it to change. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 9 years ago, after trying for 2+ years to get pregnant. We were finally blessed with a healthy, happy baby, who is now 5 years old, so I've just maintained on the pill to curb my PCOS symptoms. Well, about the last 6-9 months my period has been all outta wack, and after consulting with my midwife, we have come to the conclusion that the pill is no longer working like it should. Part of the reason? My weight. Well, that was the final straw for me and my decision to have WLS. Long story short...she has suggested that I try the Mirena. I was leary at first, but now seriously considering it, since it would be one less pill for me to have to deal with, especially post-op. The other reason I'm seriously considering it is also because I hear that women who have PCOS are virtually free of it once they lose weight, and we aren't in the baby making business anymore. Anyone have any experience with the Mirena? Thoughts? Input? I would GREATLY appreciate it!!

    Tears of Frustration....

Good grief! What an ass! Good for you for sticking to your guns and not letting him bully you into the cath. So many people just are so compliant with their doctors, when at times there guts are tell them not too. It's always best to follow your gut! So glad that you were able to get in with another Card so quickly, and I wish you the best of luck!
  8. WOWZA! What a transformation! And the smile on your after pic shows just how you really feel! Congrats!

    on my way

Best of luck to you! You will do great! See you on the other side! And I, for one, can't wait to be there myself!
  11. I was wondering if you would care to share why you decided on having a VSG done, as opposed to the RnY? I think I have my mind made up from having several conversations with my PCP, but I would love to hear from others as well.
