2 mo. 3 days out total loss of 76lbs
coopercoop posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Like the title says today I am 2mo and 3 days out from surgery. I am 51 lbs down from the date of surgery and 76 lbs down from my 1st Dr. appt. I wanted to put how I am feeling about this cause it may help someone else, and to find out if anyone else has felt the same. I have mixed emotions about this. 1. Is wow 76 pounds gone that’s awesome. 2. Why is it not more? I should be doing better. I am nowhere near as excited about this as the people around me are. So I went and talked to my Physiologist about this. What he had to say made a lot of since. He talked about the 5 steps of depression over a loss. He told that the surgery can be viewed as an emotional loss for a lot of people. He said think about it you had over 45,000 meals in your life, food was always there and your relationship with it has changed dramatically. After talking a bit more we came to the conclusion that I am bouncing back and forth between step 4 Depression and step 5 acceptance. How can I be really excited for something when I have not fully grieved the loss of my old relationship with food and fully accepted the new relationship with it? Now this all made prefect since to me. Since that talk I have felt better and am getting more excited about the weight I have lost and trying to make little games out it to motivate me more and hit bigger weight loss numbers. Like if I worked out for 30 minutes today let’s see if I can do 40 today. Or maybe get more done in that 30 minute time frame. To me this has been 99.9% mental and knowing that I been able to fix it slowly but surely. I and hoping to lose at least another 25 pounds by 3 mo. Out that April 28th -

I am 9 days out. I had some pain on the side of my stomach where the Dr. Did most the work. Feels like I been kicked by a horse. I also had some sharp pain around my sternum but goes away when I stretch out and take a deep breath. Besides that no pain. I had feelings of regret a few times. I miss food a lot. And wish I could just eat some thing. A few days ago I been able to add egg and refried Beans. That's helped out a lot. But I would really like some chicken or a burger even a taco be awesome. I been trying to get Water in getting about 3500-40 oz a day. But in these 9 days I have dropped 29 pounds that is crazy I know. I was shocked. So you guys that are further out are you able to eat what you want?

I went through the surgery just a month ago and I had similiar feelings. I had regrets at first. But now the only regret is letting myself get to the point of having to have the surgery, even though I lost weight before many times. Now after a month I do feel like I've been remade. I feel so good about myself and know I'm in this for the long haul now. This is a process and we will get through it. Good luck.

I do Body pump classes at my gym. the 1st couple of times I was nervous but it was worth it. I feel you can get alot of classes. good luck -
I have survived the EGD and the pre diet. Now just waiting to insurance approval let the wait begin.
-
I have My EGD tomorrow and my last Appt with the Nut next Thursday. After that we will submit paper work to the insurance for approval. I am nervous about the EGD but sure it won’t be that big of a problem. The closer I get to the final step the more I wonder if this is the right thing to do. I am sure everyone felt this way at least once right? I am also a little worried because the required diet I have not done well on my weight has been yo-yoing like it always does. I plan on doing a 3 day Protein shake diet starting Sunday to try and lose a few extra pounds. Just think I am getting nervous about the whole thing.

Hello I have been a long time lurker here on this site. It’s a great site by the way. I have learned a lot and a lot of my questions have been answered just by reading post and the answer everyone has given. I have been over weight since I was a kid. I have tried many many many times to lose weight. Every single time I tried only ended in very little loss. It gets me because I am a fairly active person. When my knee is not bothering me I go to the gym 2 to 3 times a week. And I have a very high impact hobby I do 1 to 2 times a week, but never really been able to drop and weight. Well I have been thinking about WLS for awhile now. And I went to a couple WLS seminars in the past year. I had my 1st appt. with the surgeon yesterday and started a 4 month supervised weight loss program that’s required by my Insurance company. Dr. Hamilton was great answered all my questions we spent over 30 minutes talking to me. Then proceeded to give me a list of everything that will need to be done in this time, so paperwork can be submitted at the end of the 4 months. Right after the Appt I was able to get in and see the NUT. Since I have to see her, a total of 4 times. She told me what to expect nutrition wise after the surgery and that I would have to take Vitamins for the rest of my life afterwards. And always eat Protein first. Well the process is started. Needless to say I am sitting here going over all the information I have gained from this site and yesterday at the Appt. and I am kinda nervous. I know this is a big change I am going to put myself though. I know its for the better health wise and in the long run. I never had any type of surgery. I am as healthy as an Ox and the size of one too. I am only going tell a handful of people I trust that I am going to do this. Just a private person. Feel free to share your experience at this stage in the process. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks
