Will anything ever taste good again?
fat_free replied to theladyslipper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do find some foods (prepared ) are far too sweat or salty for my taking now but usually only applies to store bought or at reastaurants. I've come to love to cook healthier tasty meals for our family at home -

2 week Post OP appt and it didnt go to well :(
fat_free replied to ready4therealme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe I was only down 11lbs at 14 days post op. Right after surgery many people gain weight at first and then once your body adjusts the weight starts to come off. Others drop very quickly right after surgery. Slow and steady like the hare! Before you know it, you'll be close to or at goal ???? -
Kelly- Anne H whom I have met, was able to get her surgery partially reimbursed as well as her husbands, daughters and even her sister had the surgery in Mexico. Kelly-Anne is in Edmonton See her post below on obesity help http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/AB/4602926/Alberta-Health-Insurance-Plan-paid-for-part-of-my-Mexico-DS/

Hi there I had surgery through AHS here in Alberta so it was 100% covered. However, i have heard of others that have gone to Mexico and then submitted their backup to AHS and had some of the costs (around 50% I think) covered. If you search VSG claim to Alberta health you could probably find the info on how to do this.

Veterans....#1 thing you miss / don't miss
fat_free replied to Kindle's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I miss spicy food. I loved all of my foods hot and spicy.....now...not so much ???? I do not miss having to buy my clothes in the petite plus size section of the stores. Every single time I went to that section I though "I" was an oxymoron Now I am a happy size 6/8 and still, or even more so, considered petite! I love it ???? -
Question for those who've chosen not to share their WLS
fat_free replied to CHM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ I've told no one at the office nor most of my friends. My best friend, husband and kids are the only ones that are aware of my WLS. When asked how much I've lost, I just say .... Lots. Most are respectful and do not push. They see me out for walks or going to the gym at lunch. When it comes to events and food I just say I am watching what I eat and limit carbs, sugar and fats. This has worked at work, family gatherings and social events all around. 90lbs down and WLS has not come up. -

Today I was told from one of my staff....you are sooo teeny...you are almost too skinny. Really, I'm 5'2" and 159 lbs. I am pretty toned from all of the Pilates and yoga, but I am FAR from skinny. Gotta say, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would hear those words. Have to admit, it did make my day! ????

Well it finally happened ......

@@MichiganChic I just read your Am I fat? Thread and we could be twins - exactly the same thoughts AND the same age too. I get what everyone is saying and I need to start seeing what I really look like now rather than what my brain says. I too used to think when I was heavy that I looked good. Looking back I had the same issues back then.... I just couldn't / can't see me for what I really look like. Something I need to work on. When I look at your photos we really do have the same body type and I would say you are teeny! So I guess I just might be too ???? Tkx!!! -
What can I do with...cottage cheese?
fat_free replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Mmmm, love cottage cheese with pineapple and cinnamon with a tiny bit of stevia - the colder the better. It's heaven, close your eyes and it's an ice cream sundae with pineapple -
The funny thing is that the weight I have on my drivers license is actually closer to my current weight but the picture of me is 95lbs heavier....how will I explain that one on renewal.....ummm. 'Bout the weight part...must have been a "typo" ?!?

What's your favorite protein powder you add to coffee?
fat_free replied to scubav85's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
MRM chocolate protein powder with my coffee. It is not sweet at all which I like and mixes very easily -
Well it finally happened ......
fat_free replied to fat_free's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@MichiganChic. It's crazy to think that I am considered teeny. I really don't see it, not sure that I can ever visualize ME as a teeny person. I was once sitting in a waiting room and saw a reflection of a confident, well dressed average sized lady in the window across from me and thought. If only I could look like her....to my surprise it was me. That was still 35lbs ago....and I still have difficulty grasping that I am not the person in my head. I hope I never get accustomed to hearing it because I do feel pleased and love the sound and thought that others now see me as normal. Keeps me on track (well for the most part). 18 months out only so I need to have my check points as a constant to keep me on the straight and narrow (or teeny - my new word of the day). For everyone else, I absolutely never thought I could get here. Through all the stalls and mini gains (+1 or 2 lbs) I was convinced that as long as I got below 200lbs that would be a major accomplishment. Guess what, it just keeps getting better! I love, love, love the fact that I pursued this decision and went through the almost two year wait (in Canada) getting all of the medical, nutritional and psych support to get me to the right mind set that I personally needed before my surgery. Keep on getting "teeny" everyone - it's a great feeling
