I suppose some people may start off by saying why they want bariatric surgery. I want to be a mom. I want to be a mom so bad I would do anything to make it possible. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with me. I love myself despite being just over the cusp of morbid obesity. I am very active, I eat healthy most of the time, but I have 2 major things holding me back from my dream; I am hypothyroid and I have been either overweight or obese all but 4 years of my 23 years. I am unable to have a baby, according to my doctors, because of my weight and hypothyroidism.
I have a somewhat slow metabolism. Where the average person may eat 2000 calories per day and their recommended amount or everything else, if I did I would either maintain my weight at 255 lbs or would gain weight. I have to almost starve myself and work out hard for 2 hours to lose weight and if I take a break, my weight jumps right back up in less than a week. My mother and I have this in common.
I makes me so mad when my co-workers just tell me to skip a meal and that I would lose weight. Or when I've had family say that I'd be so pretty if I'd just lose the extra weight. Luckily I have a wonderfully supportive husband who loves me regardless of how I look or how much I weigh. He is a normal sized guy with a few extra ounds and he said that as long as I am happy, he is happy. :)
At my highest weight adult weight, I was 275 lbs and my lowest weight that I can remember was when I was in the 8th grade I was 150 lbs.
Since marrying my husband 4 years ago, I have gained 10 lbs per year. In part because he always told me he would love me no matter what and that I have always been beautiful to him. Of course he has lost weight since we have been together because I cook all of our meals and 90% of them are healthy.
I want to be a happy, healthy mommy with a happy, healthy baby. Let's see how this goes.
