    dispair

Hello. I don't know why I freak out sometimes. I was banded on 10/12 and I have only lost 25.4 pounds. For the past 4 months I have only lost 4 pounds total. I eat so good. About 1000-1200 calories a day, I really can't eat less than that. 2 servings of fruit everyday, 3 servings of veggies daily, about 70 g of pro. daily (or more) very little refined CHO. What the hell is going on? And lately after dinner, even after I am full I get this strong desire to eat junk. EVEN though I just ate. I am almost ravenous to try to get junk. Luckily my husband and I don't keep anything like that in the house so, I wait it out and eventually forget about it. Why am I not losing weight like they say, 1-2 pounds per week. I just had my 1st fill last week and expected to lose a lot this week since I rally have reduced my portions but NOPE, I only lost .6 pounds this week. Please help me anyway you can. i am scared I am slipping into depression about this.:blushing::smile::sad_smile:

    dispair

Again, thank you all for the advice. I meet with my surgeon in 2 weeks for my first fill follow up. I will talk to him about all of this. I also meet with my MD who was overseeing this whole process and I will get his thoughts as well. I know that maybe I need another fill. I just thought getting another fill would be crazy at this point since my portions are small and calories low. I will continue to try to be patient.

    dispair

Thanks everyone. There reason I just got my first fill last week is because I was doing great all of Oct., Nov., and Dec., no reason for a fill then everything came to screetching halt. I would have had a fill in Jan. but I had to have my gall bladder out so we waited until that was all healed for the fill. So at the moment I have 1.5 cc in a 10cc band capacity. I am only eating small amounts and as I said 1200 cal (or less). I just don't understand why my body is being so friggin difficult. I just got pissed is all when I keep reading the studies that say 1-2# per week of weight loss on average. 60% or more of excess body weight lost after 1 year, blah, blah, blah. I am not even close to that so I was feeling like a band failure. I hate complaining like this so, thanks for being there.

I did not do any measurements but I was a jeans size 22-24 and now I'm 20-22 (been since Dec.-no change since then) I exercise about 20 min. or more every single day. Not most days everyday is 20 min. MINIMUM. I am just so tired of this you know. I don't mind working hard to lose weight but, I am working very hard and to see only 4 ponds lost in months just makes me feel so desperate. I lost more weight/faster with weight watchers. Thanks for the support though. No one except my hubby knows about the band so I can't talk about it with anyone. so thanks

    Gallbladder?

Here's my story. I was banded in Oct. in the middle of the night in Nov. I woke up with the most horrible pain ever (chest, back, abdomen) I seriously thought I was going to die. Was rushed to ER and they said it was reflux due to the band. Gave me a Rx for it. I was sad, angry and mad. I cried and thought "what have I done to myself with this band" Same EXACT thing happened once in Dec. and again in Jan. only I refused to leave the ER in Jan. until someone gave me a better explaination. They did an ultrasound and found 1 huge stone. It was my gallbladder the whole time. I had it removed. Very easy almost painless procedure (no pain meds at all). It was an out-patient day stay just like my band. The same surgeon did it. Then I had to wait some time to recover before being able to exercise again. I WISH they caught it before the band. Good luck ladies.

    Actitrainer vs. Body Bugg

Hello. I am thinking about purchasing on of these. I was wondering if those of you who have either equipment knows if one of them has features the other one doesn't have. Do they both log calories burned? Heartrate? Steps? Distance? Etc. Tell why one might be better than the other. Thanks everyone!

    What would you do?

Hello. I have been banded 9 weeks tomorrow (about 22# down since surgery). I have not had a fill. I met with my surgeon at the 6 week mark and last week. He says I'm doing great and no fill necessary. I am losing about 1# per week sometimes more (up to 3#) sometimes less (.4#). I don't want to be one those people that thrive off of eating a tiny bit of food but in a way I suppose I was looking forward to being full off of little bits. I eat pretty normally. I had a home-made vegettarian taco and a salad last night. I had an englich muffin with PB and a banana for bkfst. I am eating a chicken, rice and veggie tonight. You know, normal meals and very normal sizes. If you were me, would you just shut-up and be happy that you are losing weight while eating like there isn't a band or would you get a fill to accelerate the weightloss (possibly) and be full on less. My doctor was excited that I didn't need one?! So, what would you do? Oh, I don't know if this helps but I am pretty active, cardio training, strength training, flexibility training, plus I coach a Varsity sports team so I am active with the team as well. I usually take 1-2 days off a week where I don't do much extra physical activity.

    Emotional Slime

Hello. I have been banded for almost 9 weeks now. I have had no bps, no slime, no pain, nothing, until today. I got so emotional unraveled today I was very upset and I could feel something thick comming up toward my throat. I had to keep swallowing to keep it down. I had eaten a string cheese for a snack 1 hour before my upset. This thick stuff that was comming up was so gross. I got sick of trying to swallow it so I just let it kinda come up and it was all sorts of mucous-like. Is that slime? Has that ever happened to anyone else? I have never had this happen before I was banded so I was just wondering if I make myself sick by getting so upset?:think

    What would you do?

Thanks so much for all of your responses. I am probably going to hold off a but longer. It's strange, ever since I git banded, I am harder on myself. Before the band I would be thrilled to lose any amount of weight. I will get a fill when I stop losing weight, when the rate is less than 6 (average between 1-2# per wk) pounds per month or when my hunger is more frequent. Thanks again for all of your 2 cents.

    Emotional Slime

Thanks for the response. Do you think this is a common problem? Do you think I have to worry about not getting upset or this might continue to happen? I got upset because I planned a vacation for my hubby and I and I just found out my husband has a work emergency and absolutly cannot leave for vaca. as planned. The airline will not refund the tickets, exchange the tickets, nothing. They said the price was so good because it has the stipulation of not being refunded, changed etc. So, I am out $700.00 for a flight we won't be on. I was so upset. The customer service agent just kept saying "no refund" "no" "get on plane, no refund" I couldn't really understand her because it wasn't clear english so I just kept getting more and more upset. Thanks for listening.

    Bread!?

Before I got banded I asked the docs. if I'd be able to anything after the healing, etc. They all said that most people can enjoy all foods, just very small portions and lots of chewing. BUT I read so many posts that people say "chicken sandwich, no bread" or just the innards of tacos", etc. So, why isn't the bread eaten? Was I lied to? Will I ever be able to have a sandwich or bread again? If I wanted to give up bread for life, I would have done Atkins!:angry :help:

    Help !!

I have an eliptical machine. I love it. I exercise on it 30 min. everyday while I watch my night time TV. The time flies by! During commercials I pick-up the pace, it's like doing intervals.
  15. Happy to report no problem here AT ALL. If anything it has "enhanced" that part of my life--simply because I feel so much better about myself. Good luck;)

    Best Life Diet?

I've done the Best Life diet. It wasn't effective at helping me lose weight but maybe it would be good for maintanence (spelling) I have to say even though it didn't help me lose weight, I felt very healthy and just good overall following the steps. The advice in the book is the same principals that my RD told me. Whole, fresh foods, be mindful of Fiber, etc.
  18. Hello. I just home my my MD office. I had my 1 month apt. He asked me how many calories I was consuming. I told him 900-1000. He said that it was not enough. He told me to increase my calories to 1400-1800. He said that the amount of calories I am currently consuming plus the amount of physical activity I am doing will cause muscle breakdown. He said I'd see a change on the scale but it is from muscle loss not fat loss. I was excited to be told to eat more!

    Sick of Protien Shakes!!! HELP!

I had the same problem. I hated Protein shakes so much. I would literally gag anytime I consumed something with protein powder in it. I called my surgeon and primary MD overseeing the process and they said: Plain non-fat yogurt with a few frozen blueberries for taste and blend it up really good adding skim milk to thin it out. 1 8oz serving had 10+ g pro. and tasted so good. I was also told to try Ocean Spray Protein smoothie (in produce section at grocery store) 130 cal, no fat, 10g pro per serving. And lastly I was told I could have 1 Bolthouse brand protein smoothie per day (so good!!!) I love the mocha flavor! Also 10g of protein per 8 oz. If it wasn't for these things, I wouldn't have made it. I have a sensative gag reflex and my body was rejecting any type protein powder. Good luck. You can Private Message me if you'd like to chat more about this.
  21. Hi all, I have been told time and time that the first weeks post-op should not be about losing weight. I have no fill in my band--I am 3 weeks post-op and will be deciding with my sergeon on Nov. 26 if it is time for a fill. I guess my problem is, I am VERY hungry. I am eating only the foods my book says to which is A LOT more strict than many other people's books and what I have read on-line. I am going crazy. I feel like I can eat fine, like the surgery never happened. Is that normal. I am being so good. I am following all of the rules exactly but what the f*ck?! I'M HUNGRY! Should I not eat more than the suggested meals? Or should I eat until I am full? HELP please?! Last week the hunger wasn't as bad but with each day, I am getting more irritated. Like I said I am on my third week out. I lost almost 9 pounds my first week, 1.4 pounds my second week and nothing this week why??? I'm desperate, confused, upset, sad:think:help:

first few weeks not for weight loss???!!!

Thanks Shelby. I am eating about 800-900 calories daily. That's how many fit into the plan I am supposed to follow. I am supposed to have 6 oz. of Protein (from very specific sources listed). 2 veggies, 2 fruits, 1 starch, 1.5 milk. I can oly choose foods on the list for those groups. When all is said and done it equals about 800-900 calories. I am getting about 65 grams of protein a day. The doctor said more than 60-70g for me is ideal. This is hard for me but, I have calmed down a bit. I just hope things work better after the fill. For example. My sample lunch is 2 oz. pureed turkey deli meat with 1/2c pureed carrots. I am NOT FULL after that. My Breakfast is 1 egg and 1 oz. of cheese. Yep, not full after that either. I know I am only 3 weeks out. I will try to be patient.:tired

    My first group support meeting

I chose banding because the thought of having a major organ sliced and reconnected freaked me out.
  24. Hello. I have been banded for 2 weeks and 2 days. I have been great. No pain, etc. But today, sometimes when I take really deep breaths I feel a soreness/pain around my port area. I was working out on my eliptical and a could really feel the discomfort. It isn't constant just when I move or breath certain ways. Anyone else have this? The site looks great, healing nicely. I am just worried since I haven't felt this before. Anyone know what I'm talking about?:help:

    Pain/sore port area-please help!

You were told not to exercise for six weeks? Wow. I was told to get up and moving as soon as possible. I asked how soon I could use treadmill etc. they said as soon as I felt comfortable. It is not vigorous, just moderate activity. However, I was told NO abdominal specific exercises until 6 weeks minimum (cruches, ball work)
