What were (or are) some of the barriers holding you back from getting wls?
magtart replied to miamomma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nothing really held me back. I've never been one to worry or expend a lot of energy on being afraid of things. I just forged ahead once I finished the research phase. -
I had a sore ass from the most uncomfortable hospital bed in the world. It felt like a sofa bed,

I'm working my way through a case of the apple-melon flavor, which is the only one I can stand. -
Um, you should see your doc immediately.

I just discovered that MFP can import recipes from other sites. My chicken Parm Soup from Food52 is under 200 calories. -

How Often Do You Actually Cook?
magtart replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I cook 2-3 times a week and make enough for leftovers. Tonight is Slow Cooker chicken Parmesan Soup. We have "scrounge" nights where we will just find something frozen or cook some eggs or whatever. I cook for myself and my son. Hubby cannot eat by mouth and is on a feeding tube permanently. -
I'm trying out a new recipe -- Slow Cooker chicken Parmesan Soup.

Sorry you're having these problems. Are you on a PPI like Omeprazole? You might ask your surgeon if it could help. I had a HIDA scan two weeks ago. I found it more boring than uncomfortable. Just having to lie there and be still for so long. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had my Kindle with me. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

magtart replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I'm making a roasted turkey breast, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green Beans, and apple pie. I plan to try a bite or two of everything, but we will see how that goes. -
I find that those Isopure Zero Carb clear drinks go down better with lots of ice and a shot of vodka.

Regretting it already..(day 1)
magtart replied to ZombieQueen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Really? One day and you are already freaked? I think you need to calm down, relax, and follow your post op instructions. Surgery, no matter what it is, involves discomfort or even pain. I'm sorry to be blunt, but get a grip. You will feel better soon. -
Smell of food makes me ill.
magtart replied to JohnnysGirl0424's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar issue early on. It passed pretty quickly. I just had to force myself to drink my Protein drinks and Water. Sipping chicken broth seasoned with rosemary & thyme helped settle my stomach. -
I had to quit 15 years ago for spinal surgery. The neurosurgeon told me my bone transplant might not take if I continued smoking. I used Patches. Man, those things gave me some crazy azz dreams if I forgot to take it off before bed.

No difference for me, unfortunately.

@@Dub no way are you going to do that. You 'da man! Love your new av, btw. -
That is an interesting opinion. I have nothing against Protein bars. If I could find one that didn't taste like crap and didn't give me major gas I would be all over it.
