It will take a while to get rid of. When I left the hospital the flannel snap-front shirt I wore there was tight across my belly because I was so bloated with gas and swelling. I am 8 days out and just starting to not feel all bloated.

Walk around your house a lot and take Gas-X strips.

I went to the grocery store for the first time since surgery yesterday. I was very sad walking through the produce section. I miss my brussels sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, you name it. I had to just kick myself and keep my eye on the prize, which is better health, moving around without pain, and maybe even cute clothes! It just takes time and patience to get through these first couple of months. Before you know it you will be able to eat decent meals in appropriate portions and will feel so much better about yourself. Just be kind to yourself and have a Merry Christmas!

I had stomach staples for some procedure before (c-sec.?) and it did not hurt at all when they pulled them out.

If I had not just had surgery we would be having Prime Rib, Yorkshire pudding, creamed spinach, glazed carrots, and French Silk Pie for dessert.

If you you do a search of the forums you will find at least one other thread with bunches of people trading names for MFP. I quit using it and switched over to CalorieCount.

I guess I spent a total of 36 hours in the hospital and was on oxygen all that time. By the day after surgery I noticed my nose was horribly clogged up and started blowing it only to find huge globs of bloody mucus with scabs. My nose never did clear up and now, a week later, my nose feels like I've been on a week long cocaine binge. When I blow it I either get big scabs or bloody mucus or both coming out. Did anyone else have this problem? What did you do to clear it up?

I'm right there with you on that. I have spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease. I lived on 2 Aleve every morning when I wasn't on something stronger. I don't know what I'm going to do other than hope for my weight loss to alleviate my symptoms. Good luck and let us know if you find something. Tylenol is useless for severe back pain.

Are you getting enough Protein in and taking a PPI? Sometimes an acid stomach can feel like hunger. I am also seven days out and having a Premier Protein Drink for both Breakfast and lunch and maybe 1/4 C. of cream Soup made with double milk. I'm lucky if I can finish half a pudding cup for a late snack after all of that. I haven't felt any real hunger but I am anxiously awaiting next week when I can have mushy food. Good luck!

How long will your liquid diet be? I found that after 4-5 days it wasn't that bad. When I had all my Protein and wanted something I had warm savory broth and that did the trick. I just wish I hadn't gained back all the weight I lost on the liquid diet while in the hospital. That SUCKED :-(

Syntrax nectar has fruity flavor liquids. I like Very Cherry and Fuzzy Navel. Isopure zero carb is like a fruit drink with 40 grams of Protein in one bottle. I like them better with some Water added.

Strained Cream of Mushroom soup and a pudding cup.

I sailed though the surgery but I am so damn thirsty. Waiting for someone to unhook me for a walk. Pain meds are doing their job.

So glad you're doing better. Let's hope it stays that way!

Are you on anti-nausea meds? If not, you probably should be. The patch kind so you don't have to swallow something.
