New to group, 58 and getting cold feet
magtart replied to 2feelgood's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Queen, I read your whole blog yesterday and really enjoyed it. I am 59 and hope I will do as well as you have. -
Would it be ok to do half my Isopure & Half G2?
magtart replied to CrissyRing77's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I've diluted mine with Water and added a single serve Crystal Light packet to some of them to make them taste better. I like the apple-melon just the way it is, though. -

I just watched 4 episodes I had backed up on my Tivo last night. That one woman could lose another 200 lbs or so by getting rid of her a**hole husband.

How often do you weigh?
magtart replied to Holly Lewis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Daily, but I don't freak out about it or weigh at night. -
I have BCBSTX and was approved immediately. I paid $350 when I was pre-admitted to the hospital. So far, that is all I have paid. My surgery was 12/17 and I had already met my deductible and out of pocket expenses for 2013. I will be interested in the EOBs coming in for stuff like anesthesia and all those little extras that may or may not be in my network.

December sleevers 2013 just checking in!
magtart replied to sleevinIT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op and have lost 16.2 lbs. I am old so that is pretty good, I think. My first post op doctor visit is tomorrow. Not digging the pureed food. I haven't eaten anything that doesn't agree with me, yet. -
Looking for a new Dr. in Houston! Out-of-Network CRUSHED my hopes
magtart replied to mona832's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in Houston and went to Dr. Ricardo Bonnor. He is affiliated with one of the BCBSTX Centers of Excellence at Memorial Hermann Memorial City. He is great. -
One night and if they had wanted me to stay another I would have escaped because that hospital bed was so uncomfortable.

Do you have a link to this deal? I'm seeing it for $93.

Tell me about upper GI
magtart replied to Superfluous's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a big deal as they will give you something that puts you out. Not like general anesthesia, more like twilight sleep. Some people have a sore throat afterwards, but I never did. -
Premier Protein ready to drink and Isopure Zero Carb is what I live on. For broth I would use Kitchen Basics unsalted chicken broth and heat it in a saucepan with a tiny bit of Better than Bouillon and some dried rosemary and thyme until the herbs infused their flavor. Then strain out the herbs and it is delicious and soothing.

You should be following your guidelines to get in the required Protein and fluids whether you are hungry or not. Just sip, sip, sip. You don't want to end up in the ER with dehydration. I always found that warm broth made my tummy feel better so I would sip on that in between Protein drinks. It counts as Water.

Decision Made where do I start?
magtart replied to BetterNai88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would start by checking to see if your insurance covers the procedure and they will often have preferred Bariatric Centers to go through. Then you can make an appointment with the surgeon and they will guide you through the remaining steps. -
Anyone experiencing peripheral neuropathy ? (tingling hands and fingers)
magtart replied to leslie1958's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have permanent nerve damage in my left leg due to a badly herniated disc that was removed but the damage remains. Sometimes at night I find my hands numb if I am clenching them when I sleep, but for some reason it has stopped in the last few weeks. I don't know why, but maybe it is the weight loss which isn't even that much yet. Who knows, but I'll take it. -
Omeprazole or Prilosec is what my GI doc recommended I take if I did not want to pay for prescriptions for Protonix. I ran out of Protonix yesterday and started on omeprazole today.

I have and ulcer and it did not seem to bother my surgeon. It was well managed by taking my PPI every day.

I read that the Force falls off a lot because of some issue with the band. Have you had any problems with that?
