  1. I look forward to the day when I can impress someone with my weight loss. Where I live now I have no friends or family other than my hubby and son. I don't work because I am a caregiver to my husband who is a cancer patient. Soon we will be moving back home where I will have my sisters and friends and I cannot wait. I have not gone anywhere other than hospitals and doctors appointments in 2 years. GAH!?!?!?
  2. Don't be scared, you will be fine. It feels like nothing much has happened once you wake up from the anesthesia. Maybe like you did too many ab crunches or something. The worst part for me was not being allowed to drink anything until after my leak test the next day. In the meantime, I asked for the sponge on a stick things they have to moisten your mouth and that was fine. Heck, I am almost 60 and was cruising down the halls as if nothing had happened!

    Ask LilMissDiva: Anything.

My question is how do you advise the newbies scared to go through with the sleeve surgery? In most cases they have been planning for ages and then get freaked as the time approaches. At my age, I never had any last minute jitters and was looking forward to having a healthy body to see me though the rest of my time on this planet.
  4. I get the Premier Protein from Kroger (local grocery) but you can also get it at costco or Sam's or on Amazon. The Isopure I order from GNC.com. It is also available at GNC stores.

    Pre-Op fear

Just keep thinking you are doing it to save you life.
  6. As for RTD drinks most people prefer the Premier Protein drinks (30g protein). I use that and Isopure zero carb drinks (40g protein). I pretty much knew what I would want after my two week pre op diet. I really haven't done much with protein powders. I felt pretty normal after 2 weeks or so. Once in a while I have a weird day where I feel kind of icky, but that is rare. I never had buyer's remorse. I healed up quickly and never got nauseated. I've only puked once when I forgot and took a huge drink of Water right after eating a full meal.

    Big Day!

I wonder what criteria the surgeons use for their suggestions of which procedure? Anyone know?

    Pasta?!

Hey, wait a minute, not fair! Pasta is not on my stage III diet. It is at the very end of all my paperwork in the "Things to Avoid" section. :grumble, grumble:

    woozy

I'm 4.5 weeks out and felt like I was going to pass out in the shower this morning. I think I didn't eat enough for dinner last night...maybe 1 oz. of chicken and that was it. Normally, I don't feel bad at all.

    5 weeks out

I feel fine today. I'm eating around 500 a day and 60g of Protein. What did you eat last night? Maybe it was something you ate.
  17. Your PCP should be able to refer you to a surgeon. If not, maybe check with your insurance company?

    5 weeks out

I'm 4 weeks out and threw up last night for the first time. It was my own fault, though. After I ate I mindlessly took a big gulp of Water and thar she blows! Oops.
  19. You look great! Huge difference.

    Greek Yogurt

I saw the caramel one at Kroger yesterday, but it only came in a 4 pack. I didn't want to buy a 4 pack in case I didn't like it. Maybe I will go ahead and get it next time I'm there.
  21. I just said :Oh, btw, I am having WLS within the next few months." Her eyes bugged out and then she asked me all about it and was very supportive.

    Surgery tomorrow

Just sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk. Keep ahead of pain by taking your pain meds on schedule. Some sleep in a recliner the first few nights, but I was fine sleeping in bed. Keep hydrated. Try chicken broth simmered with dried thyme and rosemary and a smidge of Better than Bouillon. It is so warm and savory it will soothe your tummy.

    Crock pot ideas?

Also, I make a pot roast that is really easy. Take a chuck roast or any small roast like a brisket or whatever. Spray the crockpot with cooking spray, season the roast as you like it and place in the crockpot. Then mix 1 can of low fat cream of mushroom Soup with 1 packet of Lipton's onion soup mix and spread it over the roast. Cook for 8 hours on low depending on the size of your roast. Makes it's own gravy and it is very good. You can add chopped onions and carrots if you like.

    Insurance Stalling?

It must have something to do with all the new healthcare policies going into effect in 2014. I have BCBSTX and my approval went through very quickly, but that was last year.
