Tick, tock.. surgery in the morning
magtart replied to MNSkolGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! Unsettled is the perfect word for the night before surgery feelings. -
I was 59 years old and just sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had been dieting for a lifetime and it never stayed off. I had been on Weight Watchers countless times. I don't even know when/how the idea first struck me, but once it did I was unstoppable. I am not one to overthink things. Once I get an idea in my head, watch out. I think it was less than 3 months from the first thought about surgery until I was in the OR and going to sleep. Just stay calm and look at the big picture. Good luck!

Newbie tbt needs help n support
magtart replied to shelly7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You will also be visiting with a NUT and getting some pre op tests. -
You will be fine! My pain was no worse than muscle pain from doing situps. Going under is a breeze! One minute you are awake and the next you are in recovery waking up. That is the way it is meant to be. I remember waking up in recovery and asking "what's for lunch?" The nurses looked at me and laughed.

Lucky you! The other day I said to my husband "I wish I could see Adele." His reply was "why don't you just invite her over to the house?" He has no idea who she is.

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
magtart replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I normally have a Triple Zero Greek Yogurt topped with 2 T. of Bear Naked granola with raisins, cranberries, almonds, and pecans. Prior to surgery I had a fried egg sandwich on whole wheat with a glass of V-8. Or, a soft boiled egg on whole wheat toast. -
I have spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease. Prior to my sleeve surgery I took 2 Aleve every morning. Now I take them maybe twice a month. I tried to get by without it but it just wasn't happening.

Best of luck to you...rock on!

I find that I do get hungry especially if I go 24 hours without eating anything more than a pickle and some lunch meat. My stomach will even growl, but my attitude is so different. A growling stomach is no longer an emergency as it used to be. I don't do this often, but it happens sometimes. Nowadays, I am satisfied by very little food and will even throw up if I drink more than a sip with my meal. Prior to surgery I could eat a whole dinner plate full of spaghetti or some pasta dish. Now a tiny portion on a salad plate is sometimes hard to finish. I end up eating the meat and mushrooms and leaving most of the pasta.

Anyone's first surgery?
magtart replied to sarinemaniss's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Swinging my arms around and bending side to side helped me more with the gas than the walking did. -
What is a good gummy multi?
magtart replied to Tashina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use gummies and have just discovered that the Kroger store brand tastes much better than the Centrum. I just finished off the jar of Kroger yesterday and tried the Centrum today. Ick. Neither one has Iron, but I have problems with my body retaining too much iron. -
Wow, no TV? I just finished watching 'How to Marry a Millionaire' with Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, and Lauren Bacall. Then I watched 'Desk Set' with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. I love old movies.

Good luck, Mrs. Jones. Me and Mrs. Jones is one of my favorite songs.

I have never had that issue. Last night I was sweating all night in bed. Frankly, I would welcome being cold.

We put up our 4' Fiber optic tree on a table. The 3 cats all attempted to sabotage our efforts. Now we have big Amazon boxes protecting the lower portion of the tree. http://photos.ellen.warnerbros.com/galleries/cats_in_christmas_trees

Do colonics help you lose weight?
magtart replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Quoting from the My Fitness Pal message boards, cleanses, detoxes, juice fast, and colonics are all "woo". Just a bunch of claptrap. -
I had a glass the night before. It made zero difference in the next day's outcome.

After Surgery Diarrhea

liquid in, liquid out. It will go away when you start eating solid food or even puree. -
Irregular Heart Beat
magtart replied to BillsMafia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have A-Fib and take Metoprolol twice a day. Since my surgery and slow weight loss I have had very few issues. I still take my meds, but don't worry about it. That racing irregular heart beat is very scary. -
Try propping a pillow under your side. It worked for me.

Getting to be impossible to lose!
magtart replied to akreese02's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
According to my Happy scale app I have lost 4.2 lbs. in 90 DAYS. That sucks! I think I'm losing inches, though. I bought 3 new tops and a lightweight coat to wear to an evening wedding next week. All in a size 1X and they are all too big. Too late to return the coat in time. What's next, size XL? -
I picked up the Jawbone UP3 at Target yesterday. 30% off and an additional 5% for paying with my Target card. I wish I didn't have to wait until Christmas to use it.
