I can eat a whole yogurt, but it is not an 8 oz. cup. I think it around 5 oz. -
Day 8...and really struggling
magtart replied to PurpleKite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal. I am 6 weeks out today and half the time I have diarrhea. It doesn't bother me that much. Before you know it you can eat that olive. Just be patient. -
It sounds fine to me. My doc had me on full liquids for two weeks my first day home. Then two weeks of pureed, four weeks of soft foods, and then normal diet. I have yet to eat anything that didn't go down okay. I just get really full on Proteins and can barely get to my veggie. Tonight I am making a veggie-beef Soup which will have more veg than beef plus some barley. I am looking forward to trying it.

What is the day of surgery like?
magtart replied to curlytopmomoffour's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw the OR. I was fully awake when they had me slide over on to the operating table and then placed my arms on foam covered extensions to the table so that I had my arms out away from my body. Then I don't remember anything until I was actually in my room. -
I would call. I am sure they are used to anxious people calling for a status update. Good Luck!

Phase 2 guilt. OmG am i doing this wrong?
magtart replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc told me to eat every 2-3 hours. It makes sense since I can't eat much at one time. I can eat 1 whole egg with no problem, though. For lunch I usually eat 3 oz. of food, 1.5 of tuna salad and 1.5 of cottage cheese. I never seem to get to the veggies, maybe 1 bite and I am too full. -

Yes, you can. I eat eggs, refried Beans w/cheese, baked fish. I have yet to eat any mashed potatoes. The thought of them kind of grosses me out and I have no idea why. I love mashed potatoes. The other day I had Greek yogurt with sliced banana and it was very good. -
Yeah, you should have gotten a list from your doctor or NUT. In my case, both.

Good luck and try to get some sleep tonight! I know I had trouble sleeping the night before.

More Pre-op Questions....
magtart replied to joshcoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's a tip for clear liquids. Plain old chicken broth is practically tasteless. I used plain chicken broth and simmered it on the stove with a bit of dried rosemary and thyme for 15-20 min. and then added a smidge of Better than Bouillon. It is so savory and delicious and will soothe your tummy both before and after surgery. I strained out the bits of herbs after surgery. It was my go to food and counts toward you liquids, too. -

I never had any gas pain either. I don't know why. When I had a colonoscopy they could have used me as a Macy's Thanksgiving Parade balloon.
