I was famished my first week post op. My dr put me on mushies and then chicken and fish as tolerated. It got me through the tough times. Tuna and chicken salad are mushies!!

You do need to "challenge' your metabolism. I "overeat" about 3-4 times per week, so as to always keep my metabolism going. This works for me, and is a great excuse to indulge in ice cream!
-
You can order a soup as an appetizer (I like French onion, and I cut it so the cheese is in small pieces). And for dinner have an appetizer off the menu or a fish or chicken dish. Enjoy! Live! This time will only come once, worse case, you bring home a doggie bag. Now go make reservations!!!

They used glue on me-wish it were stitches. The scars are horrible. Now I'll never be able to wear that bikini! PS, I ate (and still do) some of the wrong stuff. I am losing weight slowly, and do not feel deprived. They slow is better, right?

Dr. Colin Brathwaite and Dr. Kazcmarski are at St. Catherine's in Smithtown, NY (Long Island). Has any used them? Please share.

Any one use Dr. Brathwaite or Dr. Kazcmarski in Smithtown, NY?

Yes, it took me two fills before I felt some type of restriction. I am not hungry, although I want to eat-psychologically very hungry, not physically. I do not always eat the right things, but since I am eating so much less of them, I am slowly losing weight. I have ice cream everyday.

Oh, do you go to their support groups? How is banding going?
-
where in ny? which dr?

It took me 2 fills, but others in my support group it took up to 4. Are they sure they are getting the saline in the port?

I know Dr. Colin Brathwaite in Smithtown, NY does the surgery (both) and does accept most insurances including medicare. Hope that helps, good luck. Ja9 -
A little irratated with doctor
Ja9 replied to kathyk941's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my time is just as valuable as the dr's. I had a similar problem with wait times and spoke up. I feel the squeeky wheel gets the oil. Until they are in our shoes they do not know how it feels. Speak up!! -
Yes, my first fill I had no restriction. The second-WOW-do I feel it. Also, I eat fast sometimes because I am rushed and I pay for it. I don't PB really, just lots of slime.
-
My dr. does not require any pre op diet. I ate whatever I wanted right up until the day prior to surgery. No problems. I then was on liquids for 3 days, mushy for 4 days, then fish and chicken. I am fine. Good luck. I guess each dr. has different ways of doing the same procedure. Ja9

I am banded and have alot of difficulty eating tiny bites and chewing the food to death. With that said, I spit up almost every other day because of not eating right. I am trying to learn, but it takes time-alot of time. Ja9

Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater

I was only on liquids for 3 days, then mushy food (oatmeal, yogurt, ricotta cheese, tuna), for 4 days then fish/chicken/ chopped meat. -
What is slime? I frequently spit up frothy saliva, but sometimes it is tenacious. So, I am guessing this is slime. Where does it come from and how is it formed? I do not throw up at all. I occasioally, after much spitting up, will bring up a little food. I guess that is a PB? Your knowledge and answers are much appreciated. Thanks.

How do you get a restaurant card? Thanks! Ja9

For me, I was sick from the protein shakes. I believe the heartburn could either be the restriction (band) or gas. But not the kind of gas that gas-x can help. Rather the kind that passes in time from surgery. I had bad chest and shoulder pains. Good luck.

First fill today and have to do liquids for 4 days
Ja9 replied to luvinke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every fill that I have received, I was on liquids for 24 hours. The day after the fill, I ate what I could. -
Fill dr. in Long Island, NY? Anyone know any?? Thanks.

On my 2nd fill and still can eat almost anything?
Ja9 replied to Marin Connie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, you cannot feel any restriction as they are filling the port; if you could, I would have none that the dr missed the first time. What I have learned is that when you get a fill, the dr should insert the fluid, then pull it all back into the syringe. If nothing comes back, he missed. Does your dr do that?
