  1. Im STILL scared Im going to fail even though Im losing and 6 weeks post op. The reason I decided it was right decision was seeing all the results. Knowing that something had to be done before I ate my way into an early grave was my motivator. I didn't want to think about the what ifs with the surgery. I thought about the what ifs if I didn't do the surgery. That put me at ease 99% of the time. (Before, and for a few weeks after the surgery.)
  2. I tried alcohol this weekend. (Im about 6 weeks out, and approved by nurse.) I wouldn't recommend it. It went down ok, but making bad eating decisions is way too easy to do while drinking. I had 3/4 shot of Jack Daniels mixed in with an ounce of water. It hit fast and hard. I think if I had had another shot I would have been completely trashed. I think Im going to do my best to stay away as much as possible :/ Hard to do when your skinny husband tries to get you to drink :/

    Below 250 woo hoo

Congrats!! You look great in your pics
  6. I'm not allowed to lift for 6 weeks. As far as feeling normal, it varies greatly. Just depends on luck of the draw. Im almost 6 weeks out, and Im just starting to feel better, but I still get woozy occasionally and definitely still get light headed when I bend down.

    Lightheaded

Any liquid you consume counts, including soup, protein shakes, Popsicles etc. Just try to do the best you can each and every day. Im 5 almost 6 weeks out and Im still only getting 48-52 oz. fluids. I still get a little light headed every now and then. It's not every days though. But, Im not steady in intake, I vary greatly each day. I just take it day by day though and do the best I can.

    Not feeling well

Yes, happened to me. It's normal at that stage. Ask your dr. for some anti nausea meds. Your body is still detoxing from all that anesthesia and it makes you feel like that for maybe up to a few weeks. I found the nausea was helped a TON when I got off the pain meds during the day. (I took one dose at bedtime just to help me get to sleep for a couple weeks.) Hang in there, you'll be feeling better soon
  12. Baked tostitos. I normally take a flat out though and cut it up and bake those. Yummy protein filled chips I just happen to be out of those right now.
  13. I take 2 days off about every other week tracking food. It helps me out a lot.

    Feeling lost :(

::hugs:: So sorry for your loss. Im glad your mom got to see you on a healthy track. She will always live on in your heart and memories of her.
  15. Im 5 weeks out. The usual for the most part lol eggs, chicken, lettuce & chicken, chili, Protein bars, string cheese, sf fudge pops, yogurt. I tried a 1/4 of a really really toasted grilled cheese sand. (using light 45 calorie bread) and that went down well. I also made nachos one night Using baked chips 8?, canned chicken (1/2 can), a serving of shredded cheese, and light sour cream. It gave me 19g. Protein (I had a LOT of calories left that day when I made those) and they went down very well (baked at 405 for 5-8 minutes)
  16. I have told practical strangers Im having this surgery. I do not care who knows. I even announced to all my Facebook friends about it lol However, I rid negative people from my life years ago. And let's face it, when you are fat you aren't hiding the fact you have a problem with food (except to yourself maybe lol). I only had one questionable response at all from my distant bean pole 1/2 brother. But, after I told him more about the sleeve, the more supportive he seemed. I don't think Im clever enough to keep up with a lie lol BUT, I completely understand why some people don't tell others and respect their decision. Im just a pretty open person I guess

    I KNEW IT! :p

Omg Oreos. Those sons a b*****s are BANNED from my house. Unfortunately I can kill a pack of Oreos in an hour or 2 lol I buy them for some of the elderly I take care of, but I haven't bought a pack for me personally in yeearrrss because I know the consequences lol
  19. Yeah I was too!! I think she was trying to actually compliment me. I honestly feel she was, in retrospect, but instead she completely insulted me. She waves at me every time Im in the store(she even did yesterday), and has sought me out when Im in a long line to come to her line. But, she just didn't use that skinny little brain of hers. If she wasn't such a good cashier, I would have complained. Maybe...if I were thin I would have complained (serious life long self confidence issues to work out.). But I didn't. I just shrugged when she asked and she kept on chatting like everything was normal. It only made me mad for a few hours. (I didn't even get upset later and go into any downward spiral binge !! I just vented to my hubs and that was the end of it) I honestly forgot all about it until I read this thread lol
  20. I have been frequenting my grocery store since it opened 4 years ago. I also shop for my job and because of that most of the cashiers know me pretty well. Well, my favorite cashier (not because of her chatting, but because she doesn't try to destroy my groceries when bagging them) almost got tackled by a large woman (said woman being me) last week. We have always eaten very healthy at home, and our cart has always shown it. Anyway, last week the cashier looked at me, tilted her head, and said "I always wonder, why you so big when have such healthy groceries every week?" She is no longer my favorite cashier grr...the nerve of nosey people!!

    rant about people and mexico

Yeah Im getting pretty freakin fed up with my husband on the Mexico issue. I had my surgery here in my home state and basically now have a car payment for the next several years to afford it :/ Now, Im a little ahead of myself, but after all the great experiences here I've read about, I've been looking into maybe plastics down there. I mean 1 possibly 2 years in tax returns and it would be paid for! No loans and unbelievable price tags. I mean we are middle class people here. We are not rich. My car is old and having transmission issues, but I paid out of pocket for a $25000 surgery here in the states! I did it because I knew it would save my life. Im so glad I had, and don't mind dealing with a crappy car for years to come. However, plastics in the US would be unrealistic for us. Yet, my dumba** husband won't even entertain me with the thought of Mexico. I straight up told him yesterday "Hon, I love you to death, but Im not breaking the bank here in the US if I find the right doc. elsewhere, and I really think that this decision is ultimately my decision not yours." Well he didn't like that answer. I hope he comes around, looks at the info I have for him, and understands my thought process.

    Random rant

Im an independent caretaker. One of my clients happens to be my grandmother. Today was my first day back (part time). I knew I would be chatting before I started working, so I brought my Protein bar and was eating it while we chatted. The second I pulled it out of my purse she stated those same words "are you allowed to have that?!? gasp" Then she started in on ALL the things she wasn't allowed when she was young and dieting. -.- I wanted to grab her cane and hit her over the head with it lol On a serious note...I can't wait until I lose more weight and get a job with NO family involved lol
  23. Try the DietMinder food & fitness journal. I saw someone recommended it for wls people a few days ago and I picked it up. Used it yesterday and LOVE it. If you have a smart phone, no excuse not to journal. There are a billion apps for food journaling I was lazy and just used notepad...until I realized how much memory Im probably soaking up putting all those notes in there lol I have never been a journal person myself. But, it's second nature. Measure food, mark it down while eating. That is my thin me routine
