Cream of potato soup?
jdmama911 replied to Kelsnikol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We only had liquid stage and purée stage. But, we were allowed to strain and eat any cream of soups during the liquid phase. On purée, I just blended the stuff up in the soup and ate that. Also if you can fortify your soup with instant milk flakes (I use Carnation) you get a protein boost. -
Seanja You look great. There will always be judgmental people that just cant be happy. Oh well, gotta ignore the haters. Glad you are able to indulge every now and then and still loose weight like a boss
-
Best of luck to you! Hope to hear of a quick recovery with no complications and plenty of pounds lost
-
I'm one month post op, and still off. Im having slight complications with nausea though :/ Hoping to feel well enough to go back in 2 weeks (thinking by then I should be ok). I also have to lift things during work so the dr. told me 6 weeks off the bat.

Oh how I miss my salads! I doubt I'll ever be able to eat them quite like I used to(red cabbage, spinach, carrots, cauliflower, croutons, light dressing) but even a small basic salad would make me so happy. I had a green bean for the first time last night, and it was soooo delicious I hope my taste buds didn't screw up their taste for the rest of my fave veggies. -

I just got put on soft foods today. I've been on soft foods for over a week though :x Im eating a LOT of eggs and tuna fish salad, I had the leg off a Rotisserie chicken the other day. It was phenomenal. Even if I did chew it until it was almost liquid lol I am allowed iceberg lettuce and toast next week, and THAT makes me happy lol Tomorrow I'll probably have an Oatmeal w/milk flakes and liquid milk, then some egg salad for lunch (~1/2c.) and Im thinking croc pot BBQ chicken for dinner and a protein bar eaten throughout the day. -
Back to the hospital

Sorry to hear about such a rough time. It does get a whole lot better pretty quickly. But when we are in that stage it can never be soon enough. Make drinking fluids your only goal when you get back home from getting an IV. You should be feeling better within a couple of days. And a week later you will feel even better. Just try to be patient. -
Maybe your nurse can give you roxicet (liquid Percocet). That's what my dr.'s office gave almost everyone for pain.
-
I had my surgery on 9/11. I went in for my 1 mo. follow up and Im down 24lbs 14% of my body fat gone for good!! The doc is very pleased with my results and said Im right on track
-
Maybe call the doc. and ask if they can prescribe you something for the nausea, so you can continue the pain meds. Oh, just worry about fluids for now #1 though. Protein isn't anywhere near as important when you are throwing up Feel better soon!
-
I am still struggling with nausea. I assure you it gets much better though!! Keep on sipping water like its your job, walk as much as you can, and rest Congrats on your sleeve

Last Minute Question
jdmama911 replied to SigmaChefSpe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Toiletries, a change of clothes, your new gastric "bible" if you got one, and a pencil to take notes with for any last minute going home instructions. Oh, I also brought my own pillow. I find Im much more comfortable with it. I brought magazines and word games too, but I didn't even end up using them at all. I was busy in the hospital lol (And I was there 3 days and 2 nights) Best of Luck with your surgery -
Yes Im self pay and the dr. ordered Lovanox. It was $160!! That was for 40 of them though...I hated doing them twice a day, but in all actuality giving myself the injection wasn't as big of a deal as I thought it would be

I had swollen ankles for several years before the surgery. I had pitting edema down both my shins, and was starting to swell in my feet near my toes. One week post op and it was all gone. 3 weeks later, everything still looks nice and depuffed lol I keep looking at my feet and saying "I have bony feet??!"
-
I may have put some PB2 on some frozen yogurt. I also have mixed a little jelly with it. Sometimes I eat it straight up with a s.f. Fudge pop. 7g. Protein small snack
-
Lol, Thank God they don't have any rules about sex (well my Dr. didn't). Whenever you feel ready, which for me was about 2 weeks.
-
I was 312 when I entered the program. I lost about 15lbs. during Pre op diet and Wed. Makes me 1 mo. post op. Im thinking Im down 22lbs. Post op.

Eating every two hours?
jdmama911 replied to a_jap21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My plan doesn't want us eating more than 3 meals and a snack a day. Just work on your fluids and protein. -
Im 4 weeks out Wednesday. Now if I scramble it, I can't eat all of it.
-
I have found (Pam) fried eggs over medium will slide down my stomach well. I haven't had any problem. I can eat a full one now--with maybe one cracker to soak up the rest of the yolk :x Scrambled eggs tasted...different to me for some reason :/

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

I quit smoking 5 months ago. The last couple of days I've been seriously DREAMING of cigarettes. It's pissing me off because I don't want to start smoking, but because of fighting those cravings I caved on the eating over the weekend. Note: Due to not being able to stand any liquid protein (I gag after 2 Small sips every single time) I've progressed my diet to soft foods at 3 weeks instead of 4 weeks :/ I have however stuck to that diet pretty well...until after my sons football game...I didn't get anything at the ice cream stand for our victory celebration, but I ate the toppings off of 1 piece of pizza(Was going to take a tiny nibble of the crust, and my sister shoved it off my fork lol) then the next day I ate 1/3 of a mini Oreo container (so 1 serving of cookies), and 3/4 of cheese Pringles mini tube (3/4 of a serving). This was my first time eating something "off plan". Maybe time to go on my Zoloft again. -
Yes VERY normal. It can get pretty intense once you get in the car on the way to the hospital. At least for me it did lol Everything suddenly became real and I freaked out big time inside my head. I had to fight with myself lol But I made it there, and made it through the surgery no complications. Now Im almost 4 weeks out and loving my decision (Despite my inability to meet liquid or Protein goal yet). Im also down about 20lbs. I'll take it lol Try and get some sleep

Good luck!! I hope you have a smooth surgery and recovery
