Hi guys, I was sleeved on 2/6. I am on stage 4 which means adding in regular foods. So far nothing bothers my sleeve, I just can't eat much. I still have yo have a smoothie everyday up get my protein in. I have lost 29lbs since surgery and 45 lbs total. I have gone from a size 20/22 jeans and 2xl tops to 16 jeans and XL tops. Everyone is going great and I am so glad we are taking this trip together. Go us!

I was one of those that experienced pain and yes it will get better. As others said take your pain medicine and use a hot water bottle. It will get better everyday. Congratulations on your sleeve. -
how do I cook for me and my son
shaza1963 replied to hazeleyes8361's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love the world according to egg face, so many good recipes. I also use skinny taste.com she has some amazing recipes that are quick to make. -
When I started this process in September I weighed 241 lbs and wore 2x tops and 20/22 bottoms. I have not gone shopping or tried on clothes since that first day. Yesterday was my birthday and my daughter bought me an outfit. An xlg top and size 16 jeans, well of course I was convinced they were too small and refused to try them on at first. Well just to keep from hurting get feelings I did try them on. Guess what! Yup they fit. I haven't been in a size 16 since my 30s and I sm now 51. I am over the moon.

Need some positive energy/vibes. One week to go....
shaza1963 replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Our subconscious is a funny thing. It focuses on the one thing you don't want it too. There are still a lot of positive posts out there, but because you are close to your surgery date and you are nervous (as we all were), it is focusing on all of the negatives. We all did it. I am 4 weeks out and 18 lbs down since surgery and 43lbs down since the start of my journey and I feel great. The first week was rough, but I got through it and I can tell you I am loving my new life and so is my husband. I have so much more energy. Also I started my period the day of my surgery and it was fine. You will do great. Sending you positive vibes and best wishes. -
Go for it! You look awesome.

I dont want anyone to know my weight!
shaza1963 replied to girliegirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Unless they are directly involved with your care your friend or neighbor will not be able to access your information. It is against HIPPA privacy laws for them to look at or request any information about you. You can also request that No information is to be given to anyone outside of your doctor, nurses and a specific family member. Hope this helps. -
I am just 3 weeks out and I started taking them two days ago. It takes me about 10 minutes to nibble on them and they work. (TMI) I haven't been this regular in months.

pulled something in left side incision
shaza1963 replied to Sarahjane79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is way too much pain. You should go to the ER. Better to be safe than sorry. I'm sorry you are going through this. -
Welcome and congratulations on your sleeve. As I was told by my surgeon hydration is most important the first two weeks, so sip, sip, sip. I am 31/2 weeks out and am only managing 40 gm protein. The burping is hard. Sometimes I have to stand up and rub my tummy like a baby lol. It gets better.

I had my sleeve on 6 February and for the last 10 days I have been in a stall. No weight loss and no inches lost. I had read all about the 3 week stall and thought I was prepared for it. No such thing. Of course you start to think "ok, I guess I am the rare failure". We'll this morning I broke down and I have lost 4 lbs. I am now 200 lbs even. I haven't weighed this little in about 15 years. So excited. I am going to treat myself by going for a walk on the beach.

I am an oncology nurse and my Dr insists I take 6 weeks off. I was not happy at first, but since a nasty virus decided to attack me I am glad he insisted. Also I am taking longer to recover than usual. Probably age related lol.

Military hospital sleeve advise
shaza1963 replied to a new begining's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is the way it was for me. They will give you a list of things to complete before seeing the surgeon. After that it is pretty easy. -
Not me. I am 10 days post op and it takes me an hour to drink a cup of flavored water and if I try to drink my proteins too fast my stomach cramps up an I get nauseous. So it is still sip, sip,sip for me. The good part is I am down 10lbs since surgery.

Military hospital sleeve advise

I actually think it's easier to get approved by the military than civilian insurance from what I have been reading and what my coworkers have to go through. Good luck -
Military hospital sleeve advise
shaza1963 replied to a new begining's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my sleeve by Dr. Mann at Portsmouth navel medical center. He was wonderful. The process for me was easy. I talked to my PCM and they put in a referral for Bariatric surgery. Once That was approved the clinic set me up for their seminar. After that it was lab work, EKG, lung X-ray, and colonoscopy. After that I got my appointment with the surgeon. He decided that I was a good candidate and sent me to the psych and nutritionist. Once they signed off all I had to do was wait for a date. The one major rule this clinic has is to not gain even one pound or I would have to go on hold for 6 months and show I was committed by loosing that weight. All in all it took me from sept to feb. It was a good experience throughout. I am now 10 days post-op and feel good. Hope this helps. -
Having Trouble Losing Weight Needed to Qualify for Surgery
shaza1963 replied to Photo925's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did protein shakes for breakfast and lunch with protein snacks such as cheese sticks or low carb and a light high protein dinner. I managed to loose 25 lbs pre-op. I also had trouble loosing weight due to thyroid issues. Good luck! -
So far I have taken liquid zofran ( never again). I tasted nasty, burned as it went down and made me so crampy and nauseous that I had to lay down. That is the worst I have felt yet. The liquid colace isn't as bad, but is still nasty. Not fun. I know it is not for long and I can do this, I needed to tell those that understand.
