The weight creeped up on me. Time to get back on track
Kimcamm replied to lark60's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Just an update/encouragement . Its been 22 days since I got back on track. As of today I have lost 13 pounds. I have stopped keto at my doctors advice, as I had some test results indicate dangerous levels of ketones and Protein in my system, however I am very grateful to keto because it gave me a wonderful jump start. I am eating lots of vegtables and watching my portions, low but minimal carbs and not surprisingly this has rendered similar results as keto. I weigh daily and log everything...good and bad and I walk at least 3 times a week. I guess the message is find what works for and motivates you and WORK IT. Everyone is different but whatever motivates you let that be your go to. I have a beautiful suit that I was able to fit when I was at my smallest weight. I took it out from the back of my closet and hung it where I see it everyday. I will get back in that suit soon . Hang in there everyone. We can conquer regain and we will be better, stronger and more determined because of it. Be kind to yourselves and don't let anything or anyone stop your positive progress. Sending hugs and lots of encouragement and positive vibes to everyone. -

Weight Gain After Sleeve (Seeking Advice Not Judgment)
Kimcamm replied to GetBack_095's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Get Back dont be hard on yourself. I have gained 60lbs and I spent a lot of time being embarrassed and ashamed of myself. I am however on the other side of those emotions now and I am ready to fight again. You know your body and what works for you better than anyone. I have been doing Keto since 3/1/19 and I have lost 4 pounds and lots of inches already. That is what works for me. Find what works for you and just take one day at a time. Don't beat yourself up and don't overthink it. Small steps one day at a time is how we lost the weight the first time and we can do it again. I recommend journaling also it helps. I journal my feelings my weight and what I am eating and it helps to go back an read and compare information. You can do this. Keto is good because you still get to eat good flavorful food while losing and the food gives you energy as well. But find what works for you. Sending you hugs and lots of support. Hang in there -
Mourning Food and Water
Kimcamm replied to michelle.boone27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hang in there Michelle and take it slow. Just keep sipping through the day, before you know it you will be able to take big sips and gulps of water. There is a mourning process that takes place because we had become accustomed to relying on food. for me I used food instead of feeling emotions I did not want to deal with. When I couldnt do that anymore I had some really hard moments that included tears and lots of sleeping but fast forward 4 years and VSG was the best thing i could have ever done for myself. Also do some journaling, I did and it is nice to be able to go back and read my feeling and moments along the way while I was losing weight. Hang in there I promise you will look back on this ruff period and be glad you did it. Sending you Hugs! -
The weight creeped up on me. Time to get back on track
Kimcamm replied to lark60's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I can relate to this post. 4 years out from VSG and after 144 pound loss I have allowed myself to gain 60 pounds. I am ashamed of myself even typing that. I'm so embarrassed that for about 6 months I just did nothing. I'm through the woe is me part of this slip up and I am back to fighting. 9 days ago I started Keto. I am 4 pounds down and I can feel the inches melting. This is reminiscent of when I lost weight right after my VSG surgery. I am excited because Keto food is really good and I don't feel l like I am missing out on anything. This time I plan to exceed my prior weight loss and get to my goal weight. Thank you lark60 for sharing this post. It is encouraging to me to see that I am not the only one in this situation and with some perseverance and determination I can do it. We all can just one day at a time. Hugs to you all! -

@@jenn1 thanks a bunch for the encouragement. I too have been bitten by the shopping bug and I recently discovered I can fit size XL which has totally turned me into a shopping lunatic???? but it's so much fun. Yes the work we do on the inside is what is most important you are so right and we can do this because failing our sleeve is not an option. -

@jhclikeshopping you are so lucky to have such a great support in your husband. That's awesome. This surgery has truly been a life changing journey and I'm sure we're all going to be successful. You are so right about paying it forward. I have a good friend that I have known for over 20years that went to her first bariatric seminar yesterday. I have assumed the role of mentor to her and I'm so proud of the steps she is taking to better her life. We can definitely do this, hang in there. ???? -

Emotional Side of Bariatric Surgery...Its real
Kimcamm posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was March 31,2015 and to date I am 110 pounds down. I started at 341lbs and today I weigh 229. Now I should be over the moon happy. My weight loss has been awesome, however I realize more now than ever there is so much more to losing weight because I feel more alone today than I ever felt at 341lbs. I'm sharing this to help anyone thinking about bariatric surgery to understands that the reality of not being able to eat through your feelings is hard. Worth it but hard. I just have to sit in the feeling of loneliness or whatever it is until it passes or I can sleep it off, even exercise helps but once the coping mechanism of overeating is gone things get real......fast. I knew this was a component of surgery and I thought I was prepared but I wasn't. Soooo one day at a time. But the struggle is real. -
I have Anthem they are great. I got approved in about 6 days. The process was easy, no need to worry ????

Whew. CanyonBaby I wasn't even there and I am fuming over here. The unmitigated gall they have to look at you and treat you any other way then as a human being deserving of dignity and respect is beyond me. I'll tell you what....I am a huge believer in letting my pen do the talking. I would find out who their Supervisors and Managers are and I would get to writing, everybody would get a letter of complaint and I would probably call a few of them also and talk to them directly. Those scars you have are there for a reason. The reason is because you are a survivor and you are strong and without a doubt whatever comes your way you are made up of the stuff that will take it on head on. Without ever having met you face to face I know from reading your posts here the kindness and care you show for others, you are a wonderful person. Never forget that to those that really matter in your life you are loved, appreciated and highly esteemed. I can relate to what your going through with your heart and the tests. I too have a horrible family history of heart disease. Hang in there everything is going to be just fine. Listen if your in California and you want me to I'll go back to that doctors office with you and we can give those retards a piece of our mind ???? You just say the word and I'm there. Sorry that my post is so long and I know there are gramatical errors too but I'm really peeved at this so please forgive me. As always sending you positive thoughts, I'm keeping you in my prayers and great big ole hug to you.

An "Episode" I'd like to have missed...
Kimcamm replied to CanyonBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
CanyonBaby sorry to hear about your episode. Just shooting in the dark here but maybe the high protein diet is too hard on your system and maybe a more vegan diet might turn that cholesterol number around. Again not sure but I'm thinking of you and sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. Please update us when you can. Hugs -
You all will never know how much your words of encouragement and suggestions have helped me today. I'm thankful for you and feeling better.????
