  1. Good chance it was liquids yeh. However, I lost about 13 pounds on the pre-op diet aswell. And yes I always found it very odd that theres such a big difference between post-op diet instructions with different surgeons. I thought there was a much more unified opinion regarding what and how much to eat after this type of surgery.
  2. Oh! I apologize I forgot to update. The doctor said the bleeding from the scars was normal and nothing to worry about, that it happens sometimes. Regarding the blood coughing, she said its probably unrelated to the surgery and told me to set an appointment with an ENT doctor (eat-nose-throat). So far I'm waiting for the appointment. The coughing did not return so far so I'm not way too worried, I seem to be doin alright

  4. @RJ: Oh yay I'm glad its growing back! 1,000 mgs is enough? Doesn't cause any side effects?
  5. Thank you so much for your reply, it helps alot. Yes I think I'll start taking 5000 mcg a day and hope it doesn't cause strange side effects.
  6. Oh I'm relieved to hear its a known 3rd week stall thing As for my sins, I went out for a lil cup of icecream about once every 4 days for 3 times during my full liquid phase since I got tired of drinking Water and yogurt. As for calorie guidline..well I don't really have any. Basicly its 'eat small meals every 2-3 hours until you're full, start with Protein first, drink water inbetween' I don't really monitor calories or anything, nor protein intake. I do drink 1 cup of Protein shake a day aswell. Yeh I found it a bit weird my hospital's guidelines are so general and vague with no real tracking. Strange indeed.
  7. decaf? Is there a problem drinking normal coffee? Kinda started drinking coffee 2 weeks post op and my stomach seems to be doing fine. Should there be a problem with caffine?
  8. Yeh it really is a bit strange isn't it? I thought it was too fast aswell but they claimed it was no problem. Week 0-1 - liquids Week 1-2 - Full liquids / Mushy stuff Week 2-3 - Soft food Week 3+ - Normal food It does seem a bit too fast but so far my stomach seems to handle it fine
  9. Oh yes, I just had this incident yesterday when going out with friends. After them stuffing their faces with fatty foods infront of my face, I wanted to order a chocolate drink and they kept on bitching at me saying "We can't let you order that you'll ruin your surgery" Claiming they 'care' and 'We know you and your self control so we to make sure you don't f**k up the operation and stay fat' Its especially ironic when people do this while stuffing their faces with pizzas and french fries. Can I poke their eyeballs out with a fork now?

    Leg pain?

I had leg pains aswell starting bout 4-5 days after surgery. It lasted for about 2 weeks. Asking my family doctor she said that sometimes it can be due to magesium deficiency. She gave me some powder to buy but I didn't get it because it was too expensive and the pain wasn't too terrible. It did sort itself out a few days after I started eating soft foods. The pain was muscle pain, felt like I just came back from weight training.

    Time off for desk jobs?

I'm 18 days post sleeve and I still have brain-fog. Its pretty difficult to concentrate eventhough its improving, I dont think I can hold any tasks that require concentration. I would suggest to wait atleast 3 weeks for you to regain some of your mental focus. If you really have a tight schedule , I would suggest to wait atleast 2 weeks after surgery.
  14. Yes, been getting hungry every 1-2 hours and its kinda annoying. During the first week or so on the liquid phase I didnt get hungry much but now a little over 2 weeks after surgery I get hungry often. And I also get pretty angry and pissy when I can't eat when I'm hungry.
  15. Yeh I agree it might be unrelated but I'm not entirely sure. As for the amounts of blood and color - It seems to be 'normal' red, perhaps dry? Not excessive amounts but its definitely seen. A few strings of blood each time within a mucus like substance, so its not 'pure' blood. So 'clear' sputum with red in it. And I don't seem to have a temprature. The operation was in a hospital about.. 1.5 hours away by car. (or did you want a specific location?) Another detail I forgot to mention, which I kinda suspect now that I think of it, is that yesterday due to some god awful constipation (which I've never had before but was told it happens after this operation) that lasted over 4 hours, my stomach was cramping like you wouldn't believe. It was almost as painful as the pain right after operation. I suspect the strong painful cramps may have something to do with it... Thank you all for your replies and concern, now after about 2 hours since the incident I seem to be feeling alright so I've calmed down a bit. I'm seeing a doctor tomorrow and I think I should get some sleep, I'm not as worried anymore because most of the symptoms are gone (still bleeding just a lil). Not in any pain or anything. If anything happens during the night I'll head to the ER but so far I seem to be alright.
  16. @pdxman: Yes I'm a lil bit worried about that, but it only lasted for a few minutes and I don't feel bad now. Also the fact it happend a few weeks ago probably (hopefully) means its not related to the surgery directly. Perhaps its some sort of infection...? It doesn't 'feel' way too urgent though. @Madam: Yes I had pre-op bloodwork done, should I link it? What am I looking for? The wounds are undressed and been undressed since day 9 (5 days ago) since the stitches were taken out. The area is a little red but I don't think it extends 2-3 cms. Its a little warm to the touch but not much. @Laura: No didn't tell the doctor since its past 1am and only happend a lil while ago. Hes probably asleep. It feels more of a throat thing I think, but not sure.
  17. I'm almost certain its related to certain types of food. After surgery it was almost gone since I haven't eaten anything but liquids for a week. When I started eating mushy stuff it started flaring up again. I kind of suspect it may have something to do with milk?
  18. Oh? Did you get the surgery already? Did your HS respond?
  19. Hey there! I'm so happy I found this forum I'm a new sleevee (4 days post op), got released from the hospital yesterday. Ofcourse me being me, I did not do my homework properly before surgery , so now I'm confused about Vitamin / Protein intake. I was instructed by the hospital staff to only take 2 suckable Centrum tablets a day and thats pretty much it. What kind of other Vitamins should I concentrate on? I'm especially worried about hair loss, any special vitamins for that? What about protein powders? How much should I take? Which brands work best? Can I even take Protein powder 4 days post op? I was told I need to drink as much protein as I can. Problem with milk is that it doesn't slide down easily and makes me feel bloaty. I'm asking this here because browsing through other sections of the forum people suggest so many different things I got dizzy and now I'm really not sure what kind of protein / vitamins I should concentrate on early on (4 days post op that is) Also - regarding liquids. Is there any substitute for 'water' that has protein in it? How often should I eat / drink? Thank you!
  20. Thank you all for your replies they're quite helpful. Problem is I don't live in the US and Vitamins here are expensive as hell. I'm trying to find a good online shop to order from. Can anyone help with specific online shops / brands that do international shipping? If possible, can anyone direct me to specific product they take thats good and reliable? Been trying to read online about it problem is my brain is really foggy specific product suggestion I can order online would be very helpful. Do I need the following? Should I add / remove anything? - Biotin (is there any chewable brand? Since all I found are just normal pills. Is it possible to just chew the pills and swallow?) - multi Vitamin. - Calcium - B12 - fish oil / Omega 3? Anything else I need? Can I injest jell capsules?
  21. Yes! I've had persistant Hidradenitis Supporativa for years (about 20 now), which had been almost always active, including now. Had Sleeve surgery 6 days ago. One infected area is completely dry and the 'bad' area under my armpit is oozing alot less puss. I have a feeling it will close up by itself soon. To be honest I'm kind of shocked, did not expect this to almost cure up entirely in a week. In case it goes away entirely I'd let you know. For now theres like 80% improvement!
  22. I see, any suggestions regarding supplements after 2 weeks? I'm just a little worried about hair and muscle loss. And regarding protein - Since we don't have ready to drink protein beverages around here, is it similar to Water mixed in with isopure protein powder? Or is that another thing entirely? How many grams of protein should I try to injest? Thank you for your reply
