October Sleevers - Who else
acubi2 replied to clefofcividale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And we won't have to find costumes, we will already be dressed as hospital patients! -
It really is a test, I almost broke 3 days ago but I got through it. I don't want any complications either so it is worth it to stick to the diet. Some surgeons will stop surgery if your liver is too large because it is not only in the way but it is also too easy to damage.

4 months out and I ate the whole can!

Maybe you could spoon out 5 or 6 bites and crumble a cracker or two into it, to make sure it fills you up. -
How do you not cheat on your pre op diet?
acubi2 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been really good for the past week, but I am starting to get a little depressed about not eating fried food again. I know that someday I will be able to again. I had to start my pre op diet really quickly and didn't have much notice so I guess I feel like a missed out on eating one last big meal. -

Don't get discouraged about the gain. My doctor said that you can actually gain up to 10lbs post op because of all of the fluids from your IV's. It will be gone in no time :-) -
How do you not cheat on your pre op diet?

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I am very thankful for this support system, you guys are wonderful. Its a new day and I am feeling much better. I did not cheat yesterday, I just needed some friends to get me through. This time next week I will be in surgery. There won't be any food funerals here, I just needed to refocus and take a deep breath and know that I am doing this for a reason. I have read that the pre op diet is the hardest part, so that makes me feel better too. -

After I signed my consent form my surgeons office submitted my surgery to insurance. That was September 4th for me, I have surgery October 31st. I think it is different for everyone from insurance to insurance. I am not sure if that answers your question or not. :-) -

I know the feeling! Mine is on the 31st and I had pre op class today. My mind is reeling, I know its the right choice but I am still stressing about it!! -
You know you're on the Pre-op diet when...

I was drinking just water for the first 3 days and then I realized that we had crystal light. Crystal light is the most delicious tasting drink after 3 days of plain water. I am day 7 of my diet and I am not super hungry anymore. It feels weird to say that knowing 1000 calories a day is not many for the average person. -
My mom says that the chicken and rice baby food isn't bad for the baby food. She had gastric bypass in 2002 and her post op diet was actually baby food. It was weird to watch a grown woman eat baby food but she said it was doable and that it tasted a lot better then it looked.

Just looking for someone that I can share ups and downs with along the way. Anyone out there getting sleeved on or around Oct 31st?

I am going to PM you!

I think if you are this worried about post op food it might not be a good idea to have surgery yet. If you don't work on your food issues surgery won't help you, my sister had surgery 4 years ago, she wasn't ready and she gained almost every pound back. The first month is going to be hard, there will be struggles but its not going to be about what you eat its going to be about remembering to eat. And the amount you are going to be able to eat is so tiny that planning something tasty will be a waste of time. 1 year post op think about your diet because you will be able to eat almost anything then.

I am having surgery in Portland OR, I am starting to freak out because I have a cold that I cannot seem to get rid of. I am afraid that I will go in tomorrow and they are going to say nope. Do you have support there? People coming to the hospital with you?
-
Yay! I am so excited for you. My pre op appointment is on the 22nd.
-
I think that you will be healed, but you will probably still be on a pureed diet. By then you should be able to tell her what is going on though.
-
Maybe you can tell her in confidence. And let her know that if she tells anyone you will know it was her and that it will completely destroy your trust in her. You can tell her it is a procedure, it sounds less serious than surgery. I think it might be your only option unless you get one of her kids to tell you the dates they are coming. It sounds like a Christmas or Thanksgiving visit to me.

I like to make my own Quest bars. I have a serious problem with niacin and it is just easier to make my own. Its so much cheaper too! Oh and they are delicious, I wrap mine in wax paper and use one of Targets snack measurement zipper bags and store them in the fridge. http://www.sweetcheetah.com/2013/07/diy-quest-bars.html?m=1

Mine is similar to this too although we do 3 weeks. I am going through serious caffeine withdrawal though. I guess you never really know how much you consume until you stop! Surgery is on Oct 31st, I still can't believe it.

It can be a Vitamin deficiency "Vinegar cravings usually signify physical bodily changes and a certain deficiency. Vinegar is acidic and if you are craving for it then this means that your body has an internal need to regulate the pH to a comfortable level for normal body functions. If the craving becomes too much, you are advised to seek medical advise." I usually crave mustard and pickles when I have too much caffeine.
