For me what worked to calm my nerves was to go back over the reasons that I wanted/needed surgery. If you forget those reasons it does become more nerve racking. Just keep them in the front of your mind so that you can think of them when ever you get nervous.

My doc recommends getting retested 3 months post op. My apnea was at such a low setting that I don't think I will wait that long to be retested.

Make sure that you are up walking around, that will help move the gas out. The protein drink before bed might be part of the problem. I am not able to sleep on my side it hurts too much (I had surgery on the 31st).

Anyone have an open surgery and not laporscopic?
acubi2 replied to Mel1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had to add an incision to get a better view for my surgery. -
When did you stop cleaning your inscisions and just let them air out and heal naturally?
acubi2 replied to Italiancurves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon used glue to cover mine. I am supposed to let the glue naturally fall off and voila all better! I am skeptical but my incisions look really good. I am 5 days post op. -
My highest weight was 376, day of surgery I weighed 355. Current weight is unknown because I am waiting to weigh in, surgery was Oct 31st.

October Sleevers ~~~ How's your weightloss going so far?
acubi2 replied to Athinnerme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was just sleeved on the 31st. But on my pre op diet I lost 21lbs. I am not going to weight myself for a week just so I can get all the extra fluids out of my system. -
Has anyone else experienced hiccups? I have had really painful hiccups since surgery. And sometimes it feels like I have burps that are stuck. Its horrible and if anyone knows how to stop them please help! :-)

My mom drank soda a lot post op and gained back half of the weight she lost. Just be careful soda can be a slippery slope.

If you had a pre op diet, that was kind of a detox of refined sugars and carbs. If you didn't have a pre op diet PM me I will send you a copy of mine. -
Will you show me yours...?
acubi2 replied to KittyChick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been to your first appointment yet? Once I called to make my first appointment my doctors office sent me a 16 page packet that had a lot of information for me to fill in. I also have anthem BCBS and was approved within a month with no extra paperwork. I am not sure if that helps, during my psych appointment we went back over all of the diets that I have been on as well. -
The Ninja is amazing. I am pretty sure I could blend rocks in it! If you watch sometimes Target offers a gift card with purchase. I bought mine for $99 but got a gift card for $20.

It sounds like the car accident was confirmation that you needed. I have had the range of emotions that you have been having too. I think that if you don't ask yourself the hard questions before surgery you can never really be prepared. I will be 5 days post op when you go in for surgery, if you need someone to talk to just shoot me a PM.

October Sleevers - Who else
acubi2 replied to clefofcividale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The night before I have to wash with antibacterial soap like Dial and sleep in clean sheets and PJs (so does my hubby). Then the morning of surgery I have to rub some stuff the doctor gave me all over my belly. Hope that helps! -
First you need to find a hobby, something that keeps your brain and your hands busy. Second when do you get to purées? That will probably help tremendously. Third are you getting plenty of protein in? And forth you need to look back at why you chose surgery, was it to make your life better? Keep your head up, you can do anything. Focus on yourself and keep busy.

I was in love with caffeine. It was the second hardest part of the pre op diet for me, and the headache lasted 4 days. I still miss it, but once you hit the 3rd or 4th day you will be fine. Hang in there it gets easier!!
