Im having a hard time. Need some encouragement
Carlotta replied to birdmadgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided to see a psychologist that specializes in eating preop and post op. I know I will have to depart with one of my best friends, food . I am Ia binge eater and always look forward to my next meal. Sweets is my addition.. I never overest on healthy foods., just sweets.. However sweets are high in fat and carbs.. So here I am having the sleeve in November. I want someone to help me to handle the emotional ups and downs. While I change my lifestyle". I also am anxious on how I will handle eating out with family and friends..ii choose not to divulge that I am having gastric sleeve surgery. I will need help to handle social situations, etc, etc. I had my first appt with my psych yesterday and am excited explore my food addiction. -
Thanks a bunch.

I agree..go to your dr ASAP. It is best to be safe..check out what this fever is about.

Dr Patrick Reardon , Houston downtown med center, the methodist hospital is doing my surgery. He comes highly recommended and the methodist is a top notch hospital.. My insurance was happy that I chose a premier hospital for this surgery. . Anyone else went to Reardon.

I agree, pack an igloo for healthily, high protein snacks or meals. Stay away from all the junk.. You committed to this change in eating lifestyle, so don't jeopardize your progress for a few days away.. -
Wow what a differences in a short time.

Looking great..and I am sure feeling even better. Congrats on your success. That is a good motivation for me who has not had the surgery ..should be mid November for me. -
Omg..I don't watt to lose much muscle mass..otherwise what good is a weight loss when it is muscle that you are eating up...I need to talk to my nutritionist about this..I have real good muscle tone and don't want to look saggy after I lose my weight. I would definitely take a slower weight loss and take in proper amount of protein to retain most of my muscle mass. Most gyms have an apparatus that can read your water, fat, skeletal, and muscle weight. I would want to monitor this while I am on my weight loss journey. Few ago I was on MEDIFASt, lost 65 pounds, and retained most of my muscle mass. I looked very healthily after owing so much weight. Glad that this issue was discussed so I can be aware of what oh need to do after weight loss surgery to reain as much muscle mass as possible.

Eating like a mad woman.
Carlotta replied to cescelli's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg...the last two weeks I have eating all my favorite foods,,not bingeing though. I've keep my weight steady for the several months at 210 lbs,. My insurance does not require a 3 or 6 month diet program...however, I see the nutritionist for the first time tomorrow and want to get on high protein , low carb diet for 6 weeks prior to my surgery. I know the first 3 days will be tough..but I know I can do this. So tomorrow is my day 1... I would like to lose 15 pounds on my preop diet snd 65 pounds after my sleeve. My goal is 130 pounds..I'm 5 feet 1". Will keep u posted on my pre op..this will keep me motivated since I want to be accountable to my dear supporters on this website. Thanks for all of your communications. It is such a comfort to hear of your successes while making such a drastic change in our lives. -
Btw, your policy with UHC may dictate something different.(about pre op diet)
-
I have UHC and I don't need to be on a y month diet,. But I will put myself on one..with the help of my nutritionist.. I think it is important to be on a weight reduction diet before surgery.. It should test your readiness with the sleeve.. Cause once it is done , no going back.
-
It is hard to compare since your policy is unique to your company as to what they want covered ..my UHC requires a BMI over 40, no pre op diet, want to see a history of my weight over a five year period..nutritional consult and a phsyc evaluation. That is it.

I am sure u will do fine,,try to get a good night's sleep.

Omg tomorrow ill be sleeved!

How dangerous is vomiting?
Carlotta replied to Rena's got this's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ye..I would recommend a prescription of nausea meds prior to surgery. Ask your doc.. -
Trigger food for me...pb.also too high in fat. Graham crackers have little nutritional value
-
Prayers going your way.. Hoping for your husband's speedy recovery.

Getting Sleeve on Monday and already struggling with the liquid diet prior to op!
Carlotta replied to lesflo805's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep yourself busy..read a good book, walk, visit friends, stay away from late night tv with all those food commercials, stay away from restaurants, stay away from your kitchen as much as possible . If possible don't cook. You can do this. -
II have not had the sleeve surgery yet..scheduled nov 14.. However, the addiction part is a big worrisome . I have to expect that the sleeve won't take away my addiction.. May curtail it for a while. That is why I will start seeing a food addiction psychologist before and after my surgery. I will need that one on one support to deal with the addiction for the long run. You may want to consider getting additional support to lose your extra pounds. In your area is there post baractric sppport groups, or small discussion groups to help you. You have come a long way..and congrats. But you can do it.. Believe in yourself that you I will lose those extra pounds.

Melinda..I'll keepu in my prayers.. With the positive ness we read on the website..it makes me less scared and more hopeful.
