One month after surgery
Carlotta replied to ReadyNewM3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember your surgery weight is lower than most who post on the wls board.. So you should not expect your body to lose as fast as others. Sometimes slow and sure wins the race. One good suggestion...only weigh at dr office or once a month. -
Good for you.keep up the great work..

Prayers r with u on your surgery and for a speedy recovery.

Please read this and help me. I need to know i'm not alone.
Carlotta replied to annag's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Maybe most of us should work on fixing our minds than doing this drastic surgery. Thanks for being so honest about the sleeve and feeling no restriction. I always wondered if this may be an issue. And u confirmed, it is. So why have the surgery if restriction goes away. You have help me decide not to go through with the gastric sleeve. .. This surgery has no guarantees enough to change my body that drastic for lifetime. I know of many people gain back their weight along the road. -
Lapband to sleeve.concerned if sleeve will benefit me
Carlotta posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my lapband for at least 6 years..I never felt full. I went to my dr after several fills that I don't feel any restrictions ..he told me to see a psychiatrist.. Two of my other siblings had the lapband with no weight loss results.. The only sensations that I felt was gagging sharpen I ate dried meat and rice. Now that I am considering conversion from lapband to sleeve, I am getting really concerned that the sleeve won't benefit me and I won't feel the fullness since I had the lapband. I hear comments on this site that lapband to sleeve is not as effective. If I'm am going to change my body and take out 85% of my stomach ??I need reassure that it will work??t. Please give me your success from band to sleeve.. I am worried. My surgery is in 5 weeks. So I need to decide if it is a go or not. -
Day 4 and lots of Nausea
Carlotta replied to pink303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doc for anti nausea meds. Chewing gum puts air in your stomach which can cause gas pain..my nurse said no gum chewing. -

How much can you eat?
Carlotta replied to barbmeow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a nutritionist that gave u guidelines fot the phases u r going through. The weight management program where I am having my surgery gave me details on have much to eat and what to eat through each step. The last step..phase i5 (eating for lifetime)....I will eat 4 of food oz, 3 meals a day.. 2 oz of protein each meal. The rest of oz of veggie, whole grains, etc., then 1 protein snack..my total protein per day should be at least 60.. Do u have a nutritionist to help u out.. It would help u out. I'm 5 feet 1 inch.. If u are taller, then you have to consume closer to 80 grams of protein per day. -

From what I have read on the wls website...taking pics of yourself along your journey would help the perception of yourself. Also, lay down and trace your body on a roll of paper..

Thanks all for your encouragement..that is so nice of you all to reply..

I am through with all the insurance requirements and now waiting for insurance approval. I was excited since I started this journey p, however, last night I go reallyt scared. I read several posts that one woman was in a coma for 5 months...and another , her sister passed away..( though it seems her doc did not take too good of after the surgery. I had not confided with anyone except my husband and a friend who had the gastric sleeve". I had anxiety since I did not tell my daughters and if something goes wrong during or after the surgery or they would be upset that I did not tell them. So I decided to tell my daughters ...one of my daughters was very receptive and was happy that I did not give up on myself. My other daughter told me I should try diet pills...she is a PA and works at a neurologists office. She has met patients with the sleeve. And most lost 50% of their weight. I did tell her I tried phen fen and other diet pills which did not work for me. I feel so much better in sharing my little big secret with my daughters. I feel less pressure since I told them..I was expecting a BIG backlash..but they were understanding and compassionate. Now for my other concern , since I yo-yoed so many years, I am afraid I will have this major surgery, alter my body, will lose my weight and then gain back..I always lost weight..but once I got to goal I would start gaining. I know this is a phycological issue I have to work on. (BTW, I started seeing a physiologist pre and then post) ..my question is how did we not go back with emotional eating with the sleeve. It would devastate me to go to great lengths to get the sleeve..and then fail..Your comments please.
