  1. Hi, my husband and i are 8 days post op- we're full liquids with some puree..... Here is my question- how long do liquids stay in your stomach? We had broth and ice tea for "lunch" and i still feel full.... We're out with friends, so i think i overdid it a bit and may have drank too much too quickly.... So did i somehow "hurt" myself or still full? My husband is under the impression that liquids pass through quickly but for years, people have always said drink a glass of water or have lo cal veg soup to fill up before you eat. I know that fill up principle no longer applies, just wondering about the affects of liquid? Thanks!!

    Any husband and wife sleevers?

My hubs and I were sleeved 9/30.... Although we're only a few days out... It was awesome doing it together, although our journey has just begun! We were very lucky- we even got to share a room in the hospital, we I think put both of us more at ease!
  11. Good luck to you as well! What city are you in? We're in western NY! And ty butter as well for the kind thoughts!
  12. My husband and i are getting sleeved tomorrow! we could eat a big breakfast but have been on clears all day- im starving!!! As far as prep tho..... Our doc makes you do south beach all along but the week before surgery you have to go back to phase one.... Needless to say i'd give anything for a whole wheat turkey sandwich right now;). Good luck to all the other "preppers" out there!
  13. So my husband and i are going to be sleeved on monday! we're talking about future food plans and i think we're a little confused.... When you're a few months out..... Can you eat "normal" food, just smaller portions? When i look on here at recipes, they all seem "different".... Like reacing all carbs with wonton wrappers...... Im willing to try that but he is not so adventurous..... He imagines going from a basket of chips and a whole burrito, rice and beans at the the meexican restaurant to just half a burrito..... Wondering how much and what can you eat a few to several months out? thanksgiving? One small slice of turkey and one small scoop of potatos? Thanks for any input:)
  14. My husband and I are both being sleeved on monday 9/30.... Wondering since both of us are having surgery, how long we will need to wait to have sex..... Anybody else sleeved the same time as their partner?

  21. New to this community and am planning to be sleeved 9/30..... My insurance is fully covering vgs but will not cover much in plastics.... I know the prices vary by what you have done, but would anybody mind sharing how much your reconstructions costs in other countries you have traveled to? TIA!

    Who Are You?

Hello! My name is Heather. I'm 36, married to a teacher and have have two wonderful step sons - 17 and 14- who I love very much! I am a nurse in the Medical ICU and I love my job! Nursing was a second career for me so going back to school was the hardest thing i have ever done. I am so proud that i accomplished that goal! I love ALL THINGS CREATIVE! I am a big paper crafter, have started dabbling in photography, and hope to get back to some simple sewing projects I used to enjoy. I also love to cook and am a total foodie... I have been learning more about my relationship with food and am learning to appreciate one amazing bite instead of the whole plate of everything. We have two cats I'm totally obsessed with- a gray and brown tabby named Renegade and a marmelade named General Sterling Price;) My husband and I are both scheduled to be sleeved in two weeks on sept 30, 2013! I am a little anxious as my 17 yo and I are traveling for a couple days this week for college visits and Im so nervous about gaining when Im out of my routine- my final weigh in with doc is 6 days before surgery and I have been told in no uncertain terms if you gain, they will cancel (postpone?) your surgery! Yikes! We live in Western NY and are being sleeved by Dr. Aaron Hoffman. I was actually banded in 2010 and lost nearly 70lbs (pre and post op put together)... I experienced some rough times in my personal life and family and my new found healthy lifestyle went to hell. I had tried many times to get back in the saddle with little success. In March of this year my husband went to see Dr. Hoffman about bariatric surgery-- he recommended the sleee for my husband and told me he was doing band to sleeve revisions with tremendous success- so here we are! After reading many introductions (but not all of them yet), it sounds like there are so many interesting people on here and I look forward to learning more about you and your journey!
