What are you NOT doing (but supposed to)?
EarthyGoalie replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein drinks get me nauseous now! I used to love anything sugary but I'm so picky now. These protein drinks are not an option for me anymore either. I always want to eat protein in from salty foods now. -

Oh and I heard you shouldn't drink out of a straw, but I have been doing that. Haven't noticed anything negative from it. -

Yeah, I think that is a problem for most of us. As a matter of fact, I wonder who doesn't have that problem. It really is a struggle. :-( -

Emotional Eaters.....How are you coping?
EarthyGoalie replied to MissNya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have ha the same issue, and still do. It is hard. But when I'm feeling emotional and I drive and think of all these places and eat, I just think about how my stomach will make me pay for it (i did try more than once, and the memory of how I feel when I even have one bite of something I shouldnt or when I'm not hungry, it gets easier) -
I am 5 mos post op--- how do ya'll feel about this surgery for a teenager?
EarthyGoalie replied to scarbedazzles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First of all, congratulations on your success. As far as approaching a teen about this, I think is a good idea. The reason why I did my surgery to begin with was because I saw how it changed my cousin's life. He is only 16 (15 when he did the surgery) but it has made him a new person, he is more active, he is happy, enjoying his life sooooooo much more than before. However, it took him almost a year to come to a decision about the surgery, he was very reluctant and really took his time until he was ready. So I really don't think it's a bad idea to let your child know that this is an option, without felling rushed or anything. -
Today I was 172.6

What's the worst thing you've done?
EarthyGoalie posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey guys! I'm almost 4 months out and I am now finally noticing a difference physically. I found some pictures that were taken of me 4 months ago, and was shocked! I guess it's because I see myself everyday that I never saw the drastic change! Anyway, that got me thinking about this journey, and how it all started. By the way, I am a food addict, still struggling in my own ways... But I just realized all the improvements in my life and in my way of eating. Don't get me wrong, what I've been going through since surgery, I'm well aware of (food wise), but it is only now that I am remembering the how crazy my food parties/orgies (for lack of better word) were. Being a food addict, I have MANY stories to tell about food, but there's this one specific time I remember that is just absolutely awful! So here's what happened on that day: I ran out the house to attend a meeting. I knew I was running late, but I stopped at McDonald and got 2 Breakfast meals, and ate them both while driving. Needless to say, I arrived late at my meeting. After the meeting, i was hungry again, so I stopped at panera bread and got a sandwich and a broccoli cheddar Soup with some French bread, and a soda. And they offered a cookie for a dollar more, so I didn't refuse. Afterwards, I drove for 40 minutes to go home, but before going home, right across the community where I live, there's a pizza place. I stopped there and got a slice. But there was a frozen yogurt place right next to it, so I figured why not? And had a big cup of frozen yogurt with all sorts of toppings. Then I went home, looking like an angel who did not just commit all these crimes. I worked a bit at home, then decided to go to cvs, but stopped at Wendy's for a spicy chicken sandwich meal, and a frosty. After cvs, I decided that I was going to start my "diet" tomorrow, so what the hell, I ordered myself some spring rolls at an asian place, then went to chilis and ordered me some honey chipotle chicken with Mac n cheese and fries, plus their cookie and ice cream dessert. I couldn't finish my meal that time, but I still forced most of it in, and felt so ashamed, I threw the rest away. I then sat in my car for a good minute, because I felt too ill to drive back home right away. And as soon as I felt better, I drove by another restaurant I love and could not resist going in to order my favorite carrot cake. And I ate that too :-( I shocked at myself just reading this lol. But this was me. And I am so grateful that I made such a positive change to my life, and that I'm doing good too! Anyone else care to share their worst food party? Or am I the biggest food-party-animal in here? Lol -
What's are you doing about clothes?
EarthyGoalie replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto! -
I love havarti too! I found a light one at a market near me, so I've stuck to that. As for other Snacks, I've been looking for ideas too, but I'm big on cheese lol. So when it's not havarti, it's a light babybel.

I feel so happy for everyone's success on here. However I rarely see a post from someone suffering from food addiction. And I feel that it would help me a lot to hear those journeys. :-) not that it doesn't help to hear other stories as well. But if you are a food addict who has succeeded in losing the weight and staying sane without hurting your poor stomach, please do share. I would love to hear about your success.

Any food addicts here?
EarthyGoalie replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I tried eating half a banana one week post op because my doctor said banana was ok. But he didn't say half a banana. I ate the half, and let me tell you, the penalty was harsh and I didn't so it again. Though the sleeve itself isn't a fix to a food addict, it really is a GREAT tool to help us control this. -

Lol yeah, I used to think so too. But one thing I learned, in life, there's nothing we do or think that is new to this world. -
Today, I'm at 174.0

Omg Yopa is the best! 18 gr protein too
EarthyGoalie replied to XXShelXX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And it is not sour at all??? I tried getting a low fat vanilla with chocolate crunch from some other brand yesterday and was so disgusted. That sour Greek yogurt taste really does t fit with chocolate in my opinion. So I'd be realllyyyy happy to find this one if it does t taste like Greek yogurt. -
OMG-- this stubborn BELLY!
EarthyGoalie replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks! I've always liked maidenform. Will definitely check them out! And I so hear ya with the summer heat. I'm in Florida, so for me, I already always have a certain degree of heat lol, unless I stay indoors. That's one of my troubles with shapers. To me, they annoying in the least amount of heat. -
My goodness.... I have lost so much weight, and most of my old clothes are fitting me. However they all look so different, because even though I am at the same weight I was years ago when I bought these clothes, this weight from the stomach fat was elsewhere back then! My belly is so mushy lol. It is like a balloon filled with pudding. Lol. I guess I am gonna have to keep wearing shapers and hope it gets better

Today's weigh in: 176.8 I'm shocked! I've been losing so slow! :-) I think I should update my goal weight, don't you think? Maybe 170?

I remember when.....
EarthyGoalie replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unfortunately, my family was the same, and still is. It is VERY hard for me to live surrounded by people who still eat how I ate before the surgery. In my my family, it's always been those 5 groups of food like you mentioned. And I'm scared that they are a bad influence on me and that I will eventually get back into all the former bad habits I had. :-(
