St. Patrick's Day Challenge
EarthyGoalie replied to Bea Amaya's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
163 today. It is what I anticipated (2lbs loss a week), but last Tuesday, I had already lost those 2 lbs, so it's like I haven't moved at all since Tuesday. :-/ I am grateful to still be losing... It's just that I don't like the fear of entering into a stall and when this happens, that's the first thing that comes to mind. -
When should you weigh yourself after surgery
EarthyGoalie replied to ShayLove's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Honestly, I think you should wait a month. Because you might be disappointed if you do too early, since you are probably bloated from the fluids from the hospital and all the air they pumped you with to do the surgery. Some people actually gain after the surgery before they start to lose. But I didn't follow my own advice lol. I started weighing 5 or 6 days after. I hadn't gained not lost anything... -

I am a shameful human being doomed to fail
EarthyGoalie replied to KittyChick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get so frustrated about eating just a few bites too. It takes time. You'll get used to it, and also start having more than 2 to 3 bites. But meanwhile, just make sure you don't hurt yourself and keep trying different things. I have had a huge problem with variety since surgery. Trust me, it does no good to eat the same things over and over. Go over the list of the good foods for u, and try to get creative with it. I myself am still trying to follow this advice. It ain't easy. -

You should check out my 3 weeks post op pizza pasta post. You are definitely not alone dear! Hang in there. Stop weighin yourself. Get back on your feet and take it a day at a time. Tell yourself "no self loathing today! No!" -
Protein to carb ratio
EarthyGoalie replied to jlong007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a particular number but I try to keep the carbs under protein. Even if I have 60grams of protein and 59grams of carbs, I consider it ok. -
Are you HUNGRY?
EarthyGoalie replied to Determined2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do get very hungry as I did before. But I also get as full as I did before, just with smaller portions, which is frustrating sometimes. But it is for the best! -

How much did you lose the first 3-4 months? I want to be out of the 200+ Club by summer.
EarthyGoalie replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol, thanks! One tip I have for you though: don't neglect Water. Every time I dot pay attention to my water intake, I notice I don't lose anything, and then I drink more water, and I lose. And it's do easy not to drink water anymore. Also, I try to be careful with carbs. I try to keep it under the amount of Protein I eat. I log everything in myfitnesspal. But you know, I have to be honest. I have "cheated" per say, more than a few times. But still lost, and I think the reasons for that is because my body likes variety (when I eat the same thing every day, I start to lose less for some reason) and also, because when I do "Cheat", I don't let it affect the rest of my day, I still try to be good right after. Oh and my start weight was 240. Now 166. (15lbs was lost from preop) I'm 5'5". -
I went out with my family, and we went to this pizza place I used to love. I used to order this big pizza slice and fold it in half and eat it in a few minutes. Tonight I ordered my slice, I ate three bites (of just some of the topping) and was done. Full. And I found myself sitting there, staring at the slice that is oh so good, and felt angry at my sleeve for a few secs. :-( I know I know.... This I what got me here in the first place... But still... Hmmm... I'm rather glad now that I wasn't able to get all these calories in. Lol. Smh...

I've pretty much been losing 10lbs a month, except for the first month, when I lost more (including one week of pre op) -

EarthyGoalie replied to Roxiaa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats! Are you exercising? I haven't been. I've been losing about 2 lbs a week. I'm really gonna start exercising though. I'm not scared about what is said that you can lose up to 18 months, I'm rather scared that I'm gonna stop losing altogether. It really means a lot to me to reach my 140 goal. I'll be 5 months in 2 to 3 weeks. I'm averaging at about 500 to 700 cal right now. -
