23 years young...October 17th!
EarthyGoalie replied to skinnymolly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Molly! First off, congratulations on taking a stand for yourself and doing something about not being happy with your weight. We are in VERY similar situations! I started off at 240 and I want to lose 100lbs as well! 25lbs gone already! I guess I can say I've achieved 1/4 of my goal already. I hope your surgery goes well and that you start losing those pounds :-) -
Gas after protein shakes?
EarthyGoalie replied to Alison1227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to take a dairy digestive pill. I had that problem but I tried having that shake with those pills from equate and it was completely FINE. Not sure if it'll work for you, but it worked for me. Worth a try... -

Caffeine addict
EarthyGoalie replied to AshleyMidwife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had any coffee, but i'm wondering if I could have things like "cappuccino" flavored shakes or or coffee mix flavored shake from Atkins or slim fast, etc... or is it too early for that even? -
Why aren't I happy with the weight loss?
EarthyGoalie replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you all! As for the clothes, one of the reasons I think I can't see much difference is because I've been wearing stretchy pants for years! I always avoided to see what my real size was, so I settled for the stretchiest I could find... -
One week post op and have gas trapped in left shoulder
EarthyGoalie replied to HalloweenBaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the exact same thing! Left shoulder too! And it would be especially uncomfortable if I coughed or laughed. But its gone now! But boy, did I burp! Stay hydrated, walk however much you can, and try massaging the area. Hope it goes away soon. -
No Energy for Anything....Is this common?
EarthyGoalie replied to 4evernjgirl69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 weeks and I can still sleep all day! I literally sleep 8 hours, wake up, go back to sleep an hour later, sleep for 6 more hours, and so on. I could sleep all day! I'm so tired! Also, keep in mind, if you are still on painkillers, they also encourage your being tired. -
So from what I understand, drinking while eating will result in making you eat more and more often... But if I'm just a few days/weeks out of surgery, isn't it ok that I would eat while drinking, which would cause me to eat more, which would allow me to finally get all my protein in? I'm really struggling to get my protein in, I haven't been able to get more than 30grams in a day... How do I do it?

I hear all the time about people being slow losers, but for someone who has had this surgery, what really is considered a slow loser? Losing 10lbs a month? Less than that? Possibly more? I know I'm only 2 weeks out, but I see people losing 20lbs+ in the first 2 weeks, whereas I've lost 10 in the first 2 weeks. but then again, I see people complaining of losing very little to nothing in the first 2 weeks also, so I feel like I shouldn't complain... but what exactly puts you in the slow loser category?
-
Omg, I feel the same. I have been struggling to get liquids in until the last couple of days, like yesterday: I had a premier protein in under an hour (11oz) and a little bit of water. I'm worried I'm stretching it too

My pleasure :-)

Do you not taste the Zucchini at all? I don't like Zucchini; especially the thought of it in a brownie! But I do love the idea of a Healthy Brownie!

No need then I just did it... and according to my calculations on MFP, each cake is equal to:Calories: 209 Fat: 10.1 Sat fat: 2.3 Cholesterol: 119.1 Sodium: 428.2 Potassium: 44.7 Carbs: 13.3 Diet. Fiber: 0.8 Sugar: 0.8 Protein: 15.5 Please note, I did not take into account “salt and pepper”, and the result of the calculations will vary depending on the different brands you may use for certain ingredients.

Only FOUR Days! What have I forgotten?
EarthyGoalie replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Chapstick! You got everything else down... you don't really need a lot. -
I have tried so many, but I found one that is the BEST tasting one... however, other than taste, it has a rather low amount of protein and high sugar :-/ it's the Honey Nougat from LA Weight Loss. Hard to find if you aren't a member, and on their website, they require you to buy 8 or 16. :-/... but I maintain that taste wise, the BEST I've had... but oh well... sorry can't be of more help.

Benefits of increased Protein intake
EarthyGoalie replied to Newme48's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist told me I need 100 g of protein per day. I'm 2 weeks post op and can't even get to 50. :-/ -
So close to -100, tired of comments to stop losing!
EarthyGoalie replied to crickee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! I constantly think "what if I'm not as successful as everyone else? What if this doesn't work for me? What ifs, what ifs... and it's so hard to get all my water in, let alone enough protein! it's hard but I'm trying to keep a positive mindset and hang in there! Thanks for the encouragement! I can't wait to lose my 100lbs! -
So close to -100, tired of comments to stop losing!
EarthyGoalie replied to crickee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just started my journey post-op, so I am nowhere near. However, I remember years ago, I was dieting and had lost A LOT of weight, probably one of my most "successful" diets, and I remember the exact same thing happening, people saying I'm losing too much, and I look great now and blah blah... and after doing a lot of self reflection, I realized that it was those comments that I let get to me back then which made me self sabotage myself again and just eat whatever because I was fine and didn't need to keep dieting. I didn't put into perspective that my way of eating and living had to change, but these comments pushed me towards that behavior which caused me not to reach my goal. And since this surgery, I have been thinking about that situation à lot and promised myself to only listen to myself and my body. But I'm really glad you posted this because the comment your Dr made about Katie Holmes makes so much sense and I never thought of it that way, so thank you :-) -
Would you happen to know the nutrition facts for the crab cakes?

I'm triggering her depression?
EarthyGoalie replied to Taminski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This hasn't happened to me yet but I fear it may... the more I think about it, the more I fear that it will happen. because my 2 best friends are heavy too and whenever we meet, it's always at our favorite restaurant and ordering our favorite food, and I just know that it's going to be so different... it's scary but I guess it forces you to get a deeper view of what kind of friendship you have.... and I know I'm going to miss those food outings too :-( but I keep reminding myself of the bigger picture! true friends should always be supportive, and find something else to do with you if it isn't eating right?
