    Sex

ROFL! I had sex 10 days post op.. It was awesome and did not hurt unless I tightened my belly. Use protection for sure though! 8)
  4. I didn't eat day 1 or 2 in the hospital. Only ice chips. Day 3 I was given flavored water and beef broth.
  5. I can usually get my vitamins down, I had mine 10/1 as well, but what I have issues with is getting all my water in and my protein. I can not handle the shakes since surgery. Zofran is my bestie! I am pretty tired as well, I wear down quickly and get very dizzy once I hit that point.

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Surgery date: 10/01/13 Highest weight: 250 Surgery weight: 234 Current weight: 205 (5 weeks post op) Goal weight: 125 I am have had a low heart rate (36-60) since surgery and my doctors are trying to figure out why. So my exercise is limited. I had a bad kidney infection following surgery and they had a hard time clearing it so I had to be put on IV medicine. Constipation is a big pain in the butt (pun intended.. LOL). Getting down all of my liquids and Protein down is still really hard to do and I depend on my Zofran to not get sick still. If I had it to do all over again... I 100% would even with my "speed bumps". My body is feeling so much better in my back and joints. My spirit is so much happier and I constantly smile even on my bad days! I look forward to the new me.. the healthier me and reaching all my goals!

    Having a melt down!

Awww. *hugs* I promise it will get better. When I was 2 weeks out I had a few emotional break downs too. It was the same thing.. Man I really want that food they are eating.. Am I really going to be able to do this? (Water works). It' normal I promise it's from hormones mostly and some of it is grieving the food. Keep reminding yourself it's ok to get a little "crazy" sometimes and more importantly remind yourself of the reason you wanted this done! You are going to do great.

    How long to get pregnant

They say 2 years to wait ideally. 1 year is the minimum they want you pregnant. I was told the baby will be fine but you can get sick from deficiencies and you will not loose as much weight right off the bat. After the baby weight loss continues though... On that note my sister in law had gastric bypass and got pregnant 2 months out. The baby was perfectly fine and she needed a few shots for Vitamins but was healthy too. She had really low blood pressure through out though.

    stomach healed?

I think leaks can come at anytime really but usually the first 6 months is the higher risk time. I was told 3-6 months was heal time fully but everyone is different too.

Welcome to the group. Surgery is always a little scary and for this one I was petrified because you don't really know what to expect with YOUR body and you worry about all that can go wrong and if you are going to succeed. You ponder about all the changes that are to come.. Let me tell you I had some complications with my surgery and you know what.. I would do it all again in a heart beat! The hospital I was in took excellent care of me and they were so friendly and caring! You are going to do great and feel awesome!

    Issue with weight gain

Sounds like water weight or constipation. They just don't want you to binge eat and gain like 25 lbs. You will be fine. 8)

HELP IM KINDA OF UNSURE ABOUT SOME FOOD QUESTIONS

It was normal for me. I am told by my doctor some people heal better and other people's stomachs swell more and it causes those symptoms. Get Zofran if you don't have it, it helps so much. For foods at that stage was warm soup, not hot or cold and sugar free pudding and apple sauce. I'm talking a bite every few minutes for me over like 15-20 minutes. The water makes me sick even now and I have a hard time, try crushed ice and nibble through out the day it got me through my hump. 8)
  14. I have constant nasuea at 5 ish weeks. I can only get about 24-30 oz water a day and about 2-4 oz food a day. My protein is about 15 g daily. I get ill from the shakes and most foods make me froth badly. Its rough. My surgeon said to try thicker soups for now because the thin drinks like water or broth can cause reflux/frothing in some of us and come up a lot easier. The foods hurt alittle and cause nasuea but stay down better do to the weight. If we do in between it should be easier he says.
  15. I am almost 5 weeks out. I lost 26 lbs post op and 16 lbs pre op on the liquid diet. Started 250. I am having a lot of issues with my water and protein still due to health issues post op. Hoping everything relaxes some and I start losing more. I am losing like 1-2 lbs every few days the last week or so.

How did you pick your "starting weight"?

I did mine based on my bariatric evaluation visit. I started my classes shortly there after. It was about 3 months into the process.

    Slimies?

Haha! Joat that is a good explanation. I get mine even if my stomach isn't full and I take my time. Mine is either exactly as you describe it OR like I have to throw up but its too thick or something and doesn't actually wanna come all the way up w/ that terrible salvation. I get that retching cramping pain like its twisting or spasming. I hope that goes away soon haha. I call it angry tummy syndrome! 8)

    Dizziness.....

I had my surgery on 10/1. I get dizzy on and off throughout the day still but is usually when I stand up or if I'm doing an active walk, so I think mine is BP related. When I check my BS mine is usually 109. I am still not eating very much (maybe 4 oz a day of cottage cheese or pureed tuna or mashed potatoes) and drinking is hard for me too. I can drink about 40 oz if I dont eat at all really and forget my Proteins... I get sick as a dog with the fake ones. I am still finding balance. I had a kidney infection after that wouldn't clear and had to get IV medicine for it and my pulse is averaging at about 40-50 since surgery so I'm on a heart monitor. My doctors are great and staying on top of my health and trying to figure out what is going on. Good luck to you. I hope it resolves for you soon!

    I ate an egg...

I pureed it with some chicken broth and nibbled. Divided it into a 1 oz portion and ate 1/2. I did it one time but did ok took about 30 minutes nibbling. I typically only do broth or cream Soups with Protein. Sometimes stage one baby food. sugar free pudding and apple sauce. Pureed cottage cheese too. But the pudding and apple sauce is for my crushable medicines so only a few nibbles. All my stuff is stage 1 baby food consistancy not chunky. They are approved 1-4 week foods from my list. The last few days with my new antibiotic I can only handle clear broths due to nausea though. I have a kidney infection and I'm on Levaquin. Makes me very ill so Zofran is my best friend. My surgeon went as far as to say worry about Water over protein right now due to nausea.

    I ate an egg...

I was sleeved on 10/1 and I can not eat a whole egg. I can eat maybe 1/2 and then I'm stuffed for like 12 hours shy of water. I usually get hungry in the morning and near bedtime other then that I graze.

    Have I tried HARD ENOUGH?

I made the decision to be open about my surgery to gain more support via emotionally or just not having to be around my friends cooking and offering me foods I can no longer eat. We do a lot of get togethers with food and I didn't want all the pressure or hurt feelings when I said no. I had a lot of negativity but also found a lot of support. I don't see anything wrong with telling people just be prepared for both responses. I also have PCOS, Type II Diabetes, and some other health issues that make it difficult to lose. I have the whole what if I try one more time but honestly trying "one more time" (many of times) lead me to 250 lbs at my heaviest and has caused me a great deal of pain and suffering. I thought about the surgery on and off for a few years and bypass scared me with all the malabsorption and deficiencies and lap band didn't seem like the right choice because of my health issues and carb addiction. Gastric sleeve felt right to me. There is no right or wrong answer, it's your body and your life. Do what makes you happy and healthy.

    I am having second thoughts...Nervous!

I think if you weren't taking it serious you wouldn't be scared. The fact that you are says you are thinking about the lifelong journey.

From start to finish how long?

Mine was about 6 months. My insurance only required 3 Life Skill classes and 3 nutrition classes, which is about 3 months. I saw my surgeon in April and began all the tests and seeing the specialists to get my clearances. I was approved in September for October surgery.

    I am having second thoughts...Nervous!

I'm not sure 100% about the cruise thing either but I think it has to do if something goes wrong and you need a doctor. Also, the foods aren't the best choices my friend has said.

    I am having second thoughts...Nervous!

My surgery is also Oct. 1! I have also got a lot of negative feedback and the exact comments "surgery is the easy way out, at least I can lose weight without surgery." I spent years trying to lose weight and failed due to bad eating, hormone issues, diabetes, and kidney failure. The pain on my back and all of my joints is grueling... I have spent the last 6 months now seeing specialists and all kinds of tests, taking classes, and worrying about insurance issues. Worrying about how this is going to affect my family for the good or the bad. You know what though they don't have a clue?! I started my pre-op diet and I feel miserable and I had a friend try to sabotage me yesterday to the point I was doubting myself to tears. I picked up the phone and I called my support and she reminded me of all the reasons I am doing this and gave me back my confidence, Nothing about this process has been easy for me. People don't understand just how hard this change is or the amount of dedication needed to succeed. You made it this far DO NOT DOUBT YOURSELF! You can do this! Think of all the reasons you want your surgery, make that your focal point! Good luck to you sweetie! My negatives I'm worried about: 1) Will I hurt more 2) Will I fail My Positives I'm looking forward to: 1) Seeing my kids get married and having grandkids 2) Out living my mother who died at 41 from heart issues (that I have and my family) 3) Self esteem and self confidence to increase 4) My body not hurting. My Diabetes and other health problems getting better 5) Being able to jog and exercise more efficiently 6) Eating healthier and feeling healthier 7) Buying nice clothes that fit me 8) Being able to ride horses, go to a dance club and actually fit in between people, Fit in chairs easier 9) I could list 100 more...
