  1. So, I was so excited to get this surgery. It was going to be life changing and going to help me extend my life and the quality of it. I was so optimistic for once and so determined.. I had my surgery Oct. 1 and right off the bat I get some heart issues from my Vagus nerve being injured which makes my heart beat stay around 36-60 for the first 7 weeks with pvc's and I get a nasty Uti/kidney infection that won't clear because it's some super cell bad germ resistant to most medications and need IV infusions to clear it. Constipated right off the bat and so nauseous all the time. I am unable to drink the Proteins as I once did before. I was told don't bother with them for now, focus on drinking. Talk of a pick line is mentioned for hydration. The doctor is gonna decide when I go back. Whatever, things happen. I'm losing weight and I'm so happy and still optimistic that this is a speed bump. Fast forward 4 weeks post op and I'm still puking and if not puking on the verge 24/7 of puking, my stomach physically hurts when I eat or drink to the point that I am unable to do either barely. I feel like I have so much air in my pouch and it hurts. I'm taking multiple medications for nausea (3 to be exact), my prilosec, and pain medication as needed. I am told to stop my Vitamins for the time being because they are making me barf. I am told don't worry about the proteins still focus on drinking. Pooping is a really big problem still and I try to keep on it. I go like every 7-10 days with Milk of Mag. Talk of a pick line is mentioned for hydration but the doctor decides to wait a little longer. It's just a speed bump.. 7 weeks post op and now I have no energy. I never exercise and constantly hurt everywhere all over my body and still in my stomach anytime I eat or drink. The nausea is worse then ever and I am barely drinking most days.. I try but when I drink it hurts and cramps and I get so nauseous that it hardly seems worth it. I am still not taking vitamins and the only Protein I get is like 3 oz of food a day, so minimal at best. The doctor wonders if I have a leak or if it's my type 1 sphincter of oddi acting up and we schedule a Catscan of my stomach and blood work to rule out the leak or other surgery issues. There is mention of getting an endoscopy and fixing the sphincter of oddi with cauterizing and a stent but it needs to be at least 6 weeks further out otherwise I risk being seriously injured. I'm getting worried but hopeful that things are gonna be answered and fixed soon. 8 weeks post op I got impacted with stool 2x this week and got a fissure which is so terribly painful. My husband seems like he hates me and like I'm an inconvenience at this point. I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of support and empathy from him. I bleed so much earlier tonight and get stuck so I was sent to the hospital where let's just say it was humiliating and utterly painful... I got an enema, liquid laxative, a rectal exam, IV for severe hydration, an Xray, and blood work. I was informed again by my husband that this is my fault.. So now I am have kidney issues from not enough protein, need a GI to fix my fissure and impacted intestine issues that they are calling ileus from electrolyte imbalances and possibly something else underlying, need to take 3 more medicines to poop softer and hopefully at all, my muscles and joints hurts so bad all the time now, and I barely sleep. To say I feel defeated.. I feel like I am so unhealthy and like for the first time I regret this surgery.. I go to my surgeon at 9 to go over the Catscan, tests, and talk about the hospital results and get a new game plan..

  4. Sleeved: 10/1/13 I have gained 1-3 pounds close to my period while on birth control. I lost it by the end of the week but my weight loss slowed down considerably while on the pill. My surgeon had me come off of it again because I have had a lot of nausea and it got worse with my BC. Now that the pill is not being taken I'm back to losing 3-4 lbs a week.
  5. I froze the first 3-4 weeks after surgery. I still tend to wear multiple layers as a precautionary thing. Better to be too warm and pull off a shirt then too cold and freeze your tuckus off. 8)

    Am I Eating Too Much?

6 weeks out and I can not tell when I am full either. I don't bother watching my calories at this point because I am eating 2-3 oz 2-3x a day so I know I am not getting much. I usually can eat about 2 oz over 15 minutes and then my stomach starts aching or cramping I don't really know how to describe it, so I stop eating because I don't want to piss it off.

    This Gas Sucks!

I still get gas 6 week out. No where near as bad as the first month. It eases up some between 3-4 weeks. Try to walk multiple times a day and use a sublingual gas x when it's really bad. Smaller sips of Water seem to help for me.
  9. A chunky burp that gets stuck LOL! Worst thing ever. Then your tummy is sour for a few hours.. bleh!

    No Weight Loss Day

It happens to me more so lately. Mine depends on how much I'm drinking and (tmi) whether I'm pooping.
  11. You look awesome! Keep up the good work! YAY you! 8)
  12. Mine has improved for the most part. I still wear down faster then I used to But I think it's still me trying to get the Proteins and Water in like I am supposed to. I can't drink my proteins yet and I'm 6 weeks out. They make me ill, I had no problems with them before surgery but after... I would feel pukey, get an upset stomach, and get tired as well as I drank them (maybe more depressed because I felt ill). My surgeon told me not too worry too much about the proteins at this point more about the hydration that the proteins will come. What I did to get some of the proteins in and tolerated it alot better.. was make hot Soup via broth or cream of whatever (pureed, and doctors idea) and added like half a scoop of unflavored Protein to like 3-4 oz of that. I took about 20 minutes to eat it. Good luck to you!
  13. I have wanted to jog/run for year now. One of my goals after surgery is to run in a marathon maybe a year from surgery. Today was my 6 week post op mark and I walked for about an hour and I JOGGED some of it! My kids were so shocked to see mommy running! I am amazed that I was jogging, me! I also realized today that I lost 20% of my body weight already and I am so excited to keep losing more! Dreams do come true!

    Not Losing Weight.

I lost a ton of weight the first month. Week 5 with my surgeons approval I began my birth control pill again. I only lost 3 lbs this week. I was very upset but you know what? We are going to hit little plateaus and we are going to keep losing for a while yet still to come. Are you drinking enough? Enough Proteins? Exercise? Pooping? Have you noticed even if you aren't losing weight that you are still losing inches? Be patient. 8)
  15. I have a food scale (don't use it right now but before surgery I did) and I love it! I measure my food by medicine cups still. Each one is roughly 1 oz. Once I get to eating regular meals I will go back to my scale though.

At The End Of The Day...

Sorry you are having a rough time. I know how it is and understand the whole you come into this world alone crap. I have found that I had 5 people out of about 20 support me throughout my journey so far. After surgery I lost 4 friends already from jealousy of me losing weight while their diets tanked... It made me so depressed because my point of view was we can lose together, we can hit the gym together, we can eat healthy together, give advice, and support each other. I didn't see it as a competition as to who got there first.. I just wanted to be healthy and for my friends to be healthy. I would also say about 5 of the people who didn't support me before surgery do now.. in fact some even want the surgery now they they see how well I am doing and my results. You have to do this for you and no one else. Negative people have no room to be in your life and they WILL bring you down and make you feel like crap. Just keeping coming on here and get the positive encouragement that you need and deserve!

    UHC

I believe most insurances have open enrollment in November and some in January. If you can upgrade your plan to one that covers it for a year. Good luck to you!
