protein shakes causing vomiting
mamaplumlee replied to katt1584's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I couldn't handle them after surgery... I would either barf or be on the verge all day if I drank them. I did liquids and Soups with surgeons permission. First few weeks you are fine without Protein if you can not handle it my surgeon told me. I would sprinkle Jay Robb unflavored egg protein into my Soup or apple sauce etc. -
I wanna see around 3-4 weeks I stalled and again at 12 weeks. Now 4 1/2 months out I will stall every other week it seems then drop like 4 lbs out of no where but... regardless of the poundage stall my inches are burning like mad. Maybe too much salt and retaining Fluid? Around your period? Pooping like you are supposed to?

I am not getting enough Proteins still but 4 months out my hair is a lot thinner then it was (first year I am told it stinks) and it has a lot of split ends from breaking. So my texture is kind of scratchy feeling rather then silky soft as it used to be. My hair is normally very curly and now its more wavy. I think that is from the breaks and thinning though. I am now taking Biotin to see if it helps and trying to up proteins.

Heartburn - Does it get better?
mamaplumlee replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor gave me a prescription for prilosec before surgery. Have to stay on it 6 months and then re-evaluate to see if there s a need longer. I would get a frothing reflux of sorts at night sometimes. On that note (4 months out).. I really didn't get classic heartburn like I did prior to surgery unless I forgot to take my medicine. Last month I started getting shoulder pain and arm pain like I previously would before surgery even with medicine. I am gonna talk to my surgeon about this if it continues. -
I am 4 months out. My drain was the largest cut I had and took about a month to heal. It had funky scabs and seemed like it was never gonna heal.

I know right. It hurt so bad in and they were like it's not going to hurt when we pull it out it will just feel strange. Worst pain ever... you feel your organs move and shift as they yank that thing out your body...

Urgent help needed!
mamaplumlee replied to chanelle102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have no judgements about the situation. I have heard it go both ways. The Xray has radiation which yes CAN cause defects but I know people who have had CTscans while pregnant on their tummies (my best friend) and her baby is just fine. People have surgeries while pregnant and things turn out fine too. In some cases things can go wrong but have they seen anything wrong with the levels or imaging of the baby at this point? I don't think anyone will have judgements about this situation and if they do... F--- them. It is your own person choice to make and whatever is decided is the right answer for you! Good luck and I am here if you need to vent or have questions. -
pain in shoulder- a "tell" that I have had enough?
mamaplumlee replied to UKHEIDI's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will get left shoulder pain almost burning and my arms burn sometimes after I eat. This is a newer thing and I am thinking heart burn or maybe eating too fast. -
Post-op Pain Control? IV Tylenol? Not convinced.
mamaplumlee replied to gohelpyourself's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a dilata pump, and it made me sooooo sick. I refused medicine after a few hours. Eventually they talked me into tylenol 3 and I did fine as long as I stayed on top of it. -
I had a drain 3 days! Most terrible thing ever! LOL

Good luck! First week is the worst, you will do great!

Are you pregnant? Worried you might be newly pregnant and them miss it? Bloodwork detects at 2 weeks post implant. So unless very newly pregnant they will know. -
I am allergic to milk so my experiences are with the Nature's own Soy complete and Jay Robb egg white Proteins. I love the Nature's own in vanilla and chocolate. The Jay Robb vanilla and chocolate tasted pretty gross to me after taste wise. Now the Jay Robb unflavored is really good in warm foods or to mix in things. 8)

Stomach Pain Caused By Stress/anxiety?
mamaplumlee replied to CCCross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the same issue, glad I found this post. Haven't eaten in days because my stomach hurts so bad from what appears to be from the stress. I have been crazy stressed and very upset crying, that's when my stomach went nuts. It feels swollen, pulses, bloated, and very crampy. I am managing fluids but it's uncomfortable like I ate too much or something. I am not hungry in the least and so nauseous. I see my surgeon Wednesday so I'm gonna see what I can do because my stress isn't gonna ease up for a bit. -
I'm having a lot of problems. of sure if anybody.else had the same problems
mamaplumlee replied to chassitycornwell's topic in The Gals' Room
I have been plagued with nausea since my surgery and I too get those kinds of pains. Worse when I eat and drink. They ran a bunch of tests on me and for the most part most came back normal. I had to do 3 nausea medicines in order to get over my bump. Once I got caught up on my Water intake I slowly got better. I'm not gonna lie though I still have a couple of days a week where I froth and vomit. My surgeon told me sometimes it can last up to 6 months. Some people's stomachs swell more and get annoyed easier. I also find if I throw up on Monday, Tuesday I'm sore and not gonna eat or drink much because I am green. -
I thought I was dying.
mamaplumlee replied to Christi85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like dehydration with possibly low blood pressure from said dehydration. I still get orthostatic if I get behind or when I first stand up.
