Got my date: January 21st
amyecpa replied to Fatdiva14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started having reflux right after my son (who is now 10) was born. The only symptom I ever have is a lump-like pressure at the bottom of my throat/neck. Are u taking anything for reflux? -
I am right there with you. My date is also the 28th. There's something about this last week! I keep looking in the mirror and telling myself "you look fine. You don't need this." But I know I do. I have a BMI of just under 35 and need to lose about 70#s. Sometimes I think this whole process/decision would be so much easier if I was more overweight. So many doubts creeping in right here at the last minute. I know this post isn't very encouraging, but I just wanted u to know that you're not alone - Amye

January 2015 Buddy Group anyone?
amyecpa replied to time for june's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
. I'm the 28th also. No pre-op diet. Getting very nervous. -
I'm pre-op scheduled for the 28th. I just tried my first protein shake and it was DISGUSTING! I tasted a strawberries and cream Muscle Milk. From what I hear, it's one of the better tasting ones. I don't know how I'm going to be able to do this. My question is this.... Has anyone been able to get their protein in without the shakes? Any suggestions for alternatives?

Heading back to ER again, prayers please
amyecpa replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You and your wife certainly have my prayers, @nprcowboy. Much love to you and yours and I specifically pray for Friday. -
I'm too new to b able to post on the vets forum, but I was just wondering.... Who's been a vet the longest? I've seen posts from people who are about 4 yrs out, but nothing beyond that. Anyone over five years? Has VGS been an option that long?

I got a call from the surgeons office (haven't met him or NUT yet) and they want me to come in and talk on the 15th and then surgery on the 28th!!!!! I've been researching for a while so I feel ok, but they don't know me. I for sure want to be scoped first just to make sure I don't have any existing ulcers or anything. (Years of diet coke, BC Powders, and stress). Will there be time? Does this sound quick to anyone?

Does anyone know what they use for contrast during the leak test? I have final consult with my surgeon Thursday, but the question just hit me. A few years ago I had an anaphylactic reaction to gandolium (MRI contrast dye) and now drs won't take any chances with that. I had just assumed it would be a barium swallow, but then I started thinking "how are u able to swallow enough?" Just curious. Thanks ????

My surgery date is coming up on the 28th. My biggest concern is absolutely my crazy mind. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder with panic attacks that is pretty well controlled by my anti-depressant and occasional Xanax. As I get older though, my anxiety definitely centers more around my health. I wouldn't say I'm a hypochondriac, I just think the worst when there is a problem. My husbands main concern post-op is that I won't be able to logically process the different pains/sensations and I'll keep running to the ER. Honestly, it's my biggest fear also. Most of the time I am completely level-headed, but my mind seems to get the best of me when it comes to health issues. I'm educating myself as much as possible so I'll have a logical argument/reason for the different pains and feelings. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Oh sorry. Yes, I am self pay. I'm 5'4 and weigh 200. Even if my BMI were higher, my insurance doesn't cover WLS.

Tears.... I don't know what to say. You are inspirational. Congrats on your success. ????
