    Mirena and Surgery Question

    Thanks ladies
  2. I have a Mirena IUD in and was wondering if I'll have to remove it for surgery. Did anybody do there surgery with the Mirena in place? Did it make a difference?

    Lets talk about sex!

    Can't wait to find out myself...I'm pre-op
  4. Haven't seen anyone talking about him so if anyone has any information I'd appreciate it. He's my surgeon.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to respond it really helps. I'm finding quote a few people on this site who had complications so I'm starting to think1% it's a little higher than we think
  6. Curious. If you had any complications what were they and was it resolved? How did his team treat you during the recovery?
  7. I found this site 2 days ago and the app last night and I have been reading quite a few posts. I am in the 2nd month of the 6 month required Dr's visit for my insurance approval but don't think I'll have any problems getting approved since I was approved for RNY back in 2009 and backed out. I was never confortable with the idea of having my stomach re-routed. I wanted the sleeve then but the surgeon was against it and really pushed the RNY so I fired him and waited for what I know was right for me. The sleeve is. I have PCOS so I'm a little concerned with how well this will work for me but I know I have to do something. I also noticed that us black folks don't really seem to lose the weight as quickly as our counterparts and the few I've known who've done either RNY, DS, or sleeve didn't exactly reach goal or maintained at goal so this is a concern for me. So here are my questions: 1. How many of you that have PCOS have been successful with the sleeve? 2. How long did it take you to lose the weight? PCOS or not? 3. Were you able to reach goal and if so were you able to maintain at goal? 4. We as black women are not too keen on being paper thin, at least I'm not, so how did you deal with the transformation? 5. Was there anything surprising or unexpected about the transformation, good or bad, that you hadn't planned for? If so how did you deal with it. I appreciate all feedback. Thanks

    Secret Sleevers?

I too am keeping this entire process a secret with the exception of my DH, my cousin and my nephew. My children are babies but if not they'd know too. My mother has not been told and I probable won't tell her...it's complicated. I have been at this door before with the RNY and I told quite a few people then backed out because I just knew that rearrainging my insides was not the option for me. I'm now getting the sleeve if I can get approved once again by my insurance. This was the surgery I always wanted but the prior surgeon kinda pushed the RNY. Not with that practice anymore. I am a little concerned about when my co-workers notice though and start asking questions. I really don't want to get into it but I work in a small office environment and it's not so easy to say buzz off to these people
