  1. Is it ok to eat baby food during the soft stage and blended stage? I go to surgery 10th of April and I'm doing my grocery shopping I'm wondering if I can get baby food stage 1 or 2 , carrots, squash, green beans etc...I think this would be easier than preparing them myself. What other things should I have ready when I get back from the hospital.? Im a single mom, will have very little help because I just moved here 1 year ago and I have no family that lives near. Im stocking the fridge for the kids but any ideas as far as for me, will be greatly appreciated.

    baby food

Well I took a look at the baby food. The first stage food has very little carbs etc...and they come in little jars which is great because we can't eat much anyway...I think I'll be buying a few.

    baby food

I've tried it before when I used to give it to my kids..I liked the carrots and the squash..LOL... But they say your taste buds change so who knows if I'll like it after surgery. I just need ideas for my grocery list for post op. I don't know if I'll be able to drive around for the first week. :-)

  10. I'm on my pre-op diet and surgery is April 10th. At first, when I decided I was gonna do this I wasn't gonna tell. But when I had to put for my FMLA at work people found out I was gonna be out for medical reasons, and started asking and I couldn't hold my excitement and told a few, yes I did get the "you are taking the easy way out" "just eat less" "your not that big just exercise" but I didn't care because these are just coworkers. Still I wish I had kept my mouth shut. But two days ago I decided to tell a very good friend who lives far I was asking her to keep me in her prayers because I was doing the surgery and her reaction did hurt. She didn't flat out say it but she started telling me about someone she knew who had complications and I took it as she is just concerned but then her FB post started. Since that day most of her posts are about "not altering our bodies" body image and being happy with what God gave us and today it was not to ask God why things go wrong because everything has consequences and if we alter our body and our health deteriorates that's our own fault. I'm feeling like the posts are for me. And this time it's someone I care for and it hurts. I wish I had kept this to myself.

    Changing Surgeons

I had that problem. I did all my stuff, Nut, Psych, everything with a facility when they went to submit to my insurance the hospital that this facility used was not an IOQ hospital (Institute of Quality) that the insurance required. It was a good hospital and I could use that hospital just not for this particular surgery. I have Aetna. So after all that the facility called me and told me I had to find a different doctor , however they had all my paper work ready to submit to insurance so they sent it to me. I found a new doctor, I did have to go to the seminar again and after that schedule an appointment with the doctor (took about a month for all this) once I saw the doctor I gave him all my paperwork he said I was ready and all they had to do was submit again to the insurance. Once insurance approved me (they submitted on a Thursday and I was approved the following Tuesday pretty fast), everything moved pretty fast. I had to get my esophagus test and some blood work for presurgery and that was it. Im scheduled for surgery April 10. I started this back in Sep 2013 and should have been sleeved in January. But I didn't have to do all the testing again my new doctor took all my paperwork and went with it. Good luck

    pre-op jitters

Veggies and diced potatoes yummy. I wish my pre-op had some real food. Mine is all liquids, protein shakes, water, broth and yogurt or cottage cheese. You can post your updates here or go to the post-op forum and start a new topic. Looking forward to reading them. I have not mastered the eating or drinking slowly yet.

    pre-op jitters

Im on the same boat. Mine is April 10th and last night I couldn't sleep thinking. And I know if it wasn't for the pre-op diet I would be eating like crazy. We will be fine. Keep us updated. Good luck.
  15. 5 more days getting anxious. If I wasn't on this pre-op diet I would be eating like crazy at this point.

I started mine about 4 days early just to give myself time to adjust and of course to cheat. And I did cheat during those 4 days but not a lot...The first 3 days (with no cheating) were hard and the headaches were horrible. Thennnn on the 7th day I cheated with a big plate of mac and cheese LOL..but since then I've been good. I have not lost much only 5 pounds and Im starving but I think it has to do that with the nerves last month I totally lost my period. Just think if you stick to it and you shrink your liver you only get 4 incisions instead of 5.

Oh ok, that good tho ,I am going to try that.. so what did you do for the headache because i know you cant take any pill for the headach right? and i know i will have them becasue when i dont eat i get them bad. and it might that your nerves stop ur period , just relax and everything will be fine, you should be excited not scared. just dont worry and think postive .. after all you gonna be skinny and healthy lol My main reason for the surgery is that me and my husband have been trying to concieve for 8 years and nothing has happened because i have pcos! i hate you pcos by the way but anyway i have heard and my doctor has told me that having this surgery will help my infertilty issues so i pray to god that soon after a year of my surgery i will have my bundle of joy.

I did nothing for the headaches, after the third day they were gone. In the seminar I went to one of the girls said she had been trying for years to have a baby and a year after the operation she got pregnant. Good luck with yours I will be posting how it goes for me. I can't wait.

    I wish I hadn't told

I agree with you. This was a very hard decision and to have others make it worse with their judgements makes it even harder. Like I said I really wish I had just kept my mouth shut it would have saved me a lot of grief.

    I wish I hadn't told

marathon1218 I feel the same way. I always pray that if something is not meant for me for God to close all the doors, I did the same when making this decision and the ride has been smooth so far. At this point, Im just ignoring her posts, as I am preocupied with my liquid diet and upcoming surgery.
  18. I wish I had kept my mouth shut that's for sure.
  19. Upps posted twice by mistake
  20. Shopping for my post op. April 10. Wooo hooo

  21. Mine went like this..they weight you then the Dr came asked if I had questions or concerns. (I had none) And he left the nurse came and gave me the liquid diet instructions and the instructions for the night and the morning of the surgery and that was it. Pretty fast. Liquid diet is horrible. First couple of days are the hardest. I had terrible headaches. Now its a little better but I still get hungry. Good luck with your surgery. Mine is April 10th when is yours?
  22. Pre-op diet is stressing the hell out of me. :-(

It's day 6 and at the beginning I lost 4 pounds (water weight Im sure) then yesterday I gained 2 back..How is this possible? Im following it to the teeth...I'm hardly eating compared to what I used to eat. It made me so mad I wanted to go and eat something out of my diet...I got a skim milk string cheese instead...watch tomorrow that cheese stick will cost me a pound. :-(
