  1. Day 4 Post op. Feel better each day. I don't feel as bloated as I did yesterday. For the numbers. Before preop diet I was 245, day of surgery 237, after surgery up to 242 that was yesterday, today 239 woohoo... Today I'm making it a point to count how many ounces of liquid I'm drinking. I know I'm doing fine but I want to work my way up to the recommended 64oz a day. Liquids at room temp are better for me. Also mm noticed that drinking from the bottle makes it hard for smaller sips and also it felt like water and air were going down together not a good feeling at all. So I bought these little plastic cups they look like shot glasses 3oz and I drink from them, its easier for me to control the sips. I was always use to gulping my drinks down so this is something I'm still adjusting to. Tomorrow I start full liquids can't wait I'm craving my premier protein shakes. Well that's it for now time to do my 15min walk. Because I'm happy wohooo.
  2. OK quick update. This surgery has totally played around w my menstrual cycle. Last month I totally lost my period (sorry for the Tmi) I guess the anxiety etc. And now it arrived 2 weeks early. So on top of dealing w my bloated tummy now I have menstrual cramps. But I will look at the positive side, I've read people always lose after their TOM. I can't wait for the pounds to start coming off.
  3. Toya you will do great. He did a pretty good job w me. The nurses at University of Illinois were all super nice. Good luck w your journey and if u have questions I'm happy to help.
  4. The chicken broth feels really good going down. I felt weak and it made me feel better. I walked 15 minute on the threadmill at 0 incline speed 1. I'm about to do 15 more to see if I can get this gas out. My tummy feels like is gonna explode I'm bloated. Pain is manageable.
  5. Day 3 post op. Feeling good. can't wait to stop feeling so bloated. Pain wise not bad I would say it's at 2, only when I walk that I feel so bloated. I have been walking that helps. Wondering how long this feeling will stay.

So glad you are doing so well. :)

  6. So today is post-op day 3. Last night wasn't bad. I kept waking up but not bad. I have a mini goal of drinking at least drinking 32oz of liquids. So to meet my goal I had that bottle of water next to me all night and every time I woke up I zip zip zip. Well let me tell u I should have slow down with the zip zip zip. Because all of a sudden I felt nausea and it was horrible I was so afraid of the pain it would cause. I sat down w the bucket in front of me and Thank God it passed. Always have a bucket near. Lol Another thing make sure u have ready at home a stool softener ( sorry TMI) because the meds will give u constipation. I will take one today because that's another pain I'm trying to avoid. I got on the scale and I gained 5 pounds (I'm sure of gas and the IV etc) but I'm not worried because I know that's the norm. So I'm at 242. I thought I'd never say this but burping and passing gas make me happy. Lmao. I must say my Dr Dr did a great job. Even the leak test when I asked when will they do it I was told he does it while u are still in the operating room. So if u are in the Chicago area Dr Enrique Elli is strongly recommended. Well time for nap. Ttyl.
  7. Thank you Maltese Gal. I know I read so many post surgery updates and they helped me so much. I'm trying to do the same for others of course everyone is different but it always helps.
  8. Well I'm at home now. I must say I wish they had kept me in the hospital one more day, I feel fine but in the hospital they are constantly checking on u so u know for sure u were OK and there's help if u need. I decided to sleep in the sofa I can't lay down flat on the bed because it would be hard to get up. ( I'm a single mom and by the time I wake up one of my kids to help me up if I have to go to the bathrooms lol) I'm afraid of getting dehidrated so I got my water bottle and a also diluted light white grape juice. The light grape diluted feels good going down. I noticed room temperature feels better going Down. I'm getting hiccups gotta find out if other people gets them and why so I can try avoiding getting them cuz it hurts. Pain is at a level 2 Only when I drink do I feel discomfort. Well that's it for now will I update tomorrow. Thanks everyone for their support. PS. Have not weighed myself since I'm bloated and still a little swollen but day of surgery I was 237. Nite nite
  9. I'm going home today. I did not need the morphine but they did put toradol w the iv and that was great. On a scale my pain was about a a 4. However I started coughing and that hurt. I finally got my jello and it took me about 40 minutes to finish it I feel bloated. I avoided the morphine because that stuff is too strong and I know it would have given me nausea. My pain was not as bad. Walked a little more and took gas-x strips. ChapStick is a MOST. Thank u all. Let's hope I do as well at home.
  10. Two little cups of medicine filled w water down and I feel so bloated. And now I have three in front of me, have no idea how I'm gonna Get them down but I most cuz after this I get jello. It feels weird in your tummy.no horrible pains yet. Looks like I have High tolerance for pain.
  11. Did a whole lot of walking. No gas pain yet And I don't feel like burping or passing gas lol. So far so good let's hope it stays that way. Next I'll be drinking let's see how it goes. I will update. PS. I tried bending cuz I dropped something. Bad idea. Lol
  12. Doing good so far. And I'm waiting for nurse to come in and ask her if I can walk I don't have gas pains but my back is killing me from being in this bed for 24 hrs. Later I get to drink. Let's dee how that goes. Thank u eveyone for the good wishes. I'm still singing the happy song.
  13. No pain medicine needed yet. But I'm confused they are not making me walk and I thought they would give u liquids the 1st day but apparently it's not till the 2nd day. I'm feeling good but I'm dying to drink something to see how it feels.and I want to walk to see if it hurts.
  14. No need for the pain medicine button yet I was sleeved at 730am and it's now 5pm so far so good. But they are not making me walk. Maybe tomorrow? I'm afraid that's when it'll start to hurt. No liquids whatsoever till tomorrow. My mouth is dry but I'm doing fine.
  15. I did it. I'm sleeved and doing great. No terrible gas pain yet and I want to walk but nurses said later. I didn't like that feeling of coming out of the anesthesia. It took almost two hours to be able to stay up. I have not had to use my pain button yet. Will update more later gonna nap now. Thank u guys
  16. In the hospital now. Got here too early lmao. At the waiting room all these kids eating cheetos and I'm thinking how good it would be to at least lick the cheese off of one. Lol.

Stop the Whining Over A Few Miserable Days!

I go into surgery tomorrow. And I have to say THANK YOU to all the people that have posted a rant or a complaint or a complication because it has prepared me. Everyone is different but I like to hear both sides. Some people need support, some just need some advise, some need someone to just listen. So I say rant away, believe me that it helps a lot of people to know what others are going through. The hair loss, the gas pain, the walking to make it better, all those things I learned from people ranting. I go into surgery tomorrow, and I will probably rant about something who knows. I know I will be doing my rant here because I am a single mom and I don't want to bother or scare my kids with my rants so this forum of "sleeved stranger friends" is where I'd be doing all my ranting...So everyone...please keep me in your prayers, and send good vibes my way...tomorrow I will be sleeved and most likely will become a RANTER...LOL

    Hi all.. Big day

Waooo Congratulations on your weight loss. I sooo needed to read this today. I go in tomorrow, and I am so nervous and anxious. I keep asking myself if this is the right thing to do...Today I decided not to read any of the post that deal with complications (I know they could happen and I've read them all) because I don't want to get more scared. Reading your post gave me encouragement. Thank you for posting. I'm sure your dad is smiling down from heaven.
  21. Doing laundry and last minute things, getting my bag ready I go in tomorrow. I am so scared and thinking OMG is this the right thing to do? Every 5 minutes I'm talking to God in my head, praying that it goes well.

    Throbbing headache!

Yes for the first three days..It was horrible...then it gets better..Hang in there.
  23. First 3 days bad headaches, 4th day it gets better. I got the vanilla bariatric advantage powder I mixed mine with skim milk and added some Davincy sugar free syrup french vanilla it was good. I started about 4 days early just to give my body time to adjust and in case I cheated I wouldn't feel so bad. I did cheat during those first 4 days but I did it with good food. (low fat string cheese) . Good luck to you.
  24. Post-op grocery shopping done...April 10th get here already.

Chicago may sleevers where you at?

Mine is in 2 days April 10th at University of Illinois Hosp. with Dr. Elli. I have all the feelings you mentioned, and now that it's so close I have anxiety. I just went grocery shopping for after surgery, and I bought a journal to write how I feel and what I've been eating etc... The hardest so far has been the pre-op diet. Mine was a 14 day liquid diet. I started my diet 4 days early to give myself time to adjust and in case I decided to cheat I wouldn't feel too bad about it. I did cheat during those 4 days but with good food, like light string cheese and stuff like that. Then when I started the diet and went by the book the first 3 days I had the worst headache ever, I took nothing and It went away by the 4th day. On the 7th day I cheated with Mac and cheese but after that I felt so bad I decided to stick to it. So far I've lost 6lbs. Good luck in your journey.
