    An English Sleever's Journey

One week post op so I jumped on the scales out of curiosity...from a high of around 238lb before I began my pre-op, I am down to 212lb today. I know a lot of that will be water weigh and I am heading towards my three week stall, but I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself!

    October Sleevers - Who else

I'm a side sleeper too and I found that for the first few days if I rolled a spare duvet up on my right side and kind of rested on that, it was the most comfortable way of sleeping. If you don't have a spare duvet a pillow or two may work the same. Had my first full night's sleep last night and it was wonderful!

Glad to hear you're ok! You will feel rough for a few days, I am on day 5 and feel like I'm just beginning to turn a corner. Hang on in there!

    Oh, do please shut up!

Where does that stop though? Should people who speak in different dialects in America not use their colloquialisms on the boards? If people use a different variation of one language, surely they should be allowed to use their own version? We all understand what everybody means - and if not, can't we ask for clarification?

Well, about 2 minutes after I posted that, she came home with chips and gravy for her lunch! Not even going to sell her now, I will give her away for free! The upside was though that I dipped my finger in the gravy and my goodness it was glorious!! Good tip about the oxo cube - may make myself a mug of stock later on. X

Even though I am struggling to get anywhere near as much Fluid down me as I need to, and the thought of actually eating anything makes me feel a bit queasy, I am seriously craving random tastes. Today, I would sell my own mother for a bag of Quavers.

Again, Madam R, thank you for taking the time to respond! Going to go to the walk-in clinic tomorrow to ask a nurse to put another dressing on for me. Not feeling great now - it seems to get worse in the evenings. How are you doing? I can't wait to stop feeling so queasy and gassy! Please tell me it stops soon

Thank you Richard! Your date is so close now, i'm excited for you . Hopefully you will manage to get some good rest - and if you don't in hospital you certainly will when you get home!! I am really struggling to get all my liquid in. I have been told I need to try to drink 2litres a day and there's no way I can do it'. I can only tolerate a few sips at a time and then I have to wait a good half an hour before I can face any more. I am a little worried about one of my incisions as well - it hurt more than the others in hospital and I could feel a lot of dried blood under the dressing. Had a shower today and some Water got under the 'waterproof' dressing and I think it's bleeding a little. I will keep an eye on it but I don't like the look of it!

I'm super sensitive to morphine and that makes me more sick than anything (as I once found out to my detriment on the platform at Bermondsey tube station! Eek!), so although I had some of that yesterday I am trying to avoid it for now. Had a few hours unbroken sleep and I don't feel too bad at the moment. I have had no pain relief since about 6pm yesterday so I am really surprised how little I am hurting. Just feel like I've done a really intense abs class at the gym! Not being able to drink much Water (it's just knocking me sick) so I have had two saline drips - although I keep needing to wee and feel guilty every time I call a nurse to unhook me from my various bits of equipment!!

    An English Sleever's Journey

Went down for theatre at about 10.20, and was put under at about 10.45. Woke up in recovery with a really dry mouth, sore throat and what felt like the worst pulled muscles in my stomach! Apparently I had been telling the recovery nurse that I felt sick but I didn't remember it! He sorted me out with a little sip of Water, painkillers and anti-emetics and then I snoozed on and off until I got back to my room. Since then, once again I have basically just nodded on and off. I am struggling with nausea more than pain ( I am just on paracetamol now ) and my oxygen levels and blood pressure is quite low. My surgeon has just been in to see me (and woken me in the process!) and said everything went very well. Hoping by tomorrow I will feel a little better - I hate feeling sick!!

Thanks Richard! I'm trying to stay positive!! Just got into my room at the hospital. Very nice - although right next to the nurses station so it's very noisy!!

Thank you so much everybody - it means so much that you took the time to reply (even if it did make me cry!!). You're all so right, this is a whole new start for me now - and now without any ties here me and my new slimmer body will be free to do whatever we want. I have been with him since I was 19 though so we have done a lot of growing up together and I am terrified of being on my own again. I guess it will hurt a little less every day so, like my pre-op diet, I just have to take it one day at a time. Went to L'Occitane at lunchtime and treated myself to my favourite shower gel and body lotion for at the hospital - I can never justify spending so much on it normally but I decided this was one of those times that was worth it. Madam Reverie - he is 24. I am up to Manchester tonight anyway for my operation, and was already planning to stay there for a couple of weeks. Further than that I don't know what I'm going to do - my priorities are with getting myself recovered now.

    An English Sleever's Journey

Found out last night that my boyfriend 'hasn't loved me for a long time' and has been (at least) sending very inappropriate texts to somebody else. I'm devastated. At such a loss as to what to do. Normally I would have used this as an excuse to eat everything in sight though, but I am still sticking really well to my pre-op diet. My pre-op appointment is tomorrow so hopefully concentrating on my op and getting better will take my mind off it all.

Good luck with your pre-op, Richard! Let us know how it goes? Mine is on Friday, the day before my operation. Don't worry about the hospital either - I'm sure they'll make it as relaxing and calming as possible for you! I had to go into hospital for the first time for something unrelated for the first time last summer. I cried my eyes out when they told me I had to stay, but by the end of my 5 days there I didn't want to go home! So nice to have somebody making you cups of tea and changing your bed! And knowing there are so many people there to look after you! How is your pre-op going? It sounds like we're on something similar. I'm on day 11 and have lost 11 lb so I'm hoping my surgeon will be pleased with that
  17. I don't know if you can get bio-oil in the US but I find that helps ( with my pre-op stretch marks!). If you can't get it maybe you can find something similar

Pre-op diet is still going well although I have had a low cal hot chocolate for lunch today instead of food - I am just not really all that hungry! I have lost 8lb in 7 days though so I am really pleased . This time next week I will hopefully have been sleeved!

    An English Sleever's Journey

Much better today! I guess my stomach is just having to adjust to not being stretched constantly over the day. I can't believe how good I feel today - I have so much energy and my stomach is noticeably less bloated and round. I don't ever want to let myself get to the point where I was so addicted to carbs ever again, they have clearly been doing me no good. My skin is awful though, which is very annoying as my face is normally really clear. Hopefully it's just my body adjusting. So, to keep me accountable, today I had: Breakfast: Rice Krispies with semi skimmed milk Snack: Apple Lunch: 1 hard boiled egg, 1 slice ham, mixed salad Snack: banana Dinner: Half a pitta with spiced chicken, peppers and onions. Gone without my yoghurt tonight as I have realised I don't need it - I can't believe how little I have been happy eating today. Calorie wise I probably would have eaten that in at just one of my meals before I was on this eating plan!

    An English Sleever's Journey

I would prefer to have eggs for breakfast, but my diet from my provider says that for breakfast I should either have 1 slice of toast with low fat spread, sugar free Cereal with milk, or 2 Ryvita with low fat soft cheese. I can't face soft cheese in the morning, and I though toast would be even less filling!! Ooh I hadn't even considered that about the yoghurt - I will have a look in the supermarket after work today - although again it has to be very low fat and low sugar which proves quite difficult!! How is your week going? Are those 3lb on their way off??

    An English Sleever's Journey

Bad day today. I have been so hungry - physically and mentally! I would have chopped my arm off for a sandwich! Breakfast: Rice Krispies with semi skimmed milk Snack: Nectarine Lunch: 2 hard boiled eggs with mixed salad Snack: banana Dinner: 60g baked salmon with cauliflower 'rice' Weightwatchers yoghurt And then I have just eaten the other half of my salmon fillet that I was leaving for my lunch tomorrow. Argh I am so cross with myself! I know there are worse things I could have cheated with, but I don't want to lose control. Tomorrow is a new day! Hope you ladies are ok!!
