  1. Hi, I am 6 weeks post op and I am unsure on whether I am getting enough calories on a daily basis. I usually have: meal #1 - 1 cup of oatmeal, 120 cal meal #2 - 6oz. yoplait light yogurt, 90 cal meal #3 - 4oz. del monte peaches, 60 cal meal #4 - 1/3 cup deli sliced turnkey, 150 cal meal #5 - 4oz. filet of salmon, 150 cal under 600 calories on a heavy eating day. All liquids are Water, I am not doing any Protein drinks at this time. (is this my answer?) I am at that stage where I can start exercising again and the last thing I want to do is pass out in the gym. Thoughts? Suggestions? misspelled calories, that's embarrassing!

    Trouble Getting Enough Calorise In?

Thanks for your input. Why no oatmeal or peaches?
  3. just wait 3-4 days and try yogurt again, if you still have issues wait 3-4 more days and try again, it gets easier. you should start tolerating yogurt rather fast.
  4. should be on full liquids for 2 weeks post op, shouldn't even have chunky soup yet.

    gaunt looking?!?

gaunt is good, that's what I want my face to look like, it looks athletic and healthy. sounds like jealousy to me.
  6. liquid for sure. but you can change up the consistency to test your stomach's ability to start handling purees and mashies.

    Trouble with food/liquids

im 5 weeks out and i can do 1/3 cup egg beaters. 1/2 cup seems like a lot for 17 days out. id cut that in half so you dont stretch out your new stomach. Especially if you feel like you are going to burst, thats not good this early.
  8. im at 5 weeks and i feel the hunger growing as well. the solution is actually eating more often but not necessarily more food. a meal for myself would be a 6oz yoplait light. or a few thin slices of deli turkey. or a pan seared filet of salmon or talapia. small portions because we have no choice, but eat when you feel hungry.

makes you wonder if u really need the surgery huh
  10. Dr. Fernando Garcia via Ready4aChange $4700 all inclusive. Great Dr. at a reasonable rate. A real hospital too. I feel like I had a high quality surgeon and team.

    Texas Sleevers!

North Fort Worth here. Sleeved 4 weeks ago today. How's everyone doing?

    2 week liquids-scared!

Well the thing is that every ones DR has a different pre op diet so sticking to one specific diet does not ensure a more successful surgery. I would do 90% liquids and if you absolutely must have something then have a zero carb snack or meal. Just do whatever you have to do to shrink your liver, start the weight loss momentum, and keep your surgeon happy.

    Dating post-op..does it get easier?

From a guys perspective, don't date him. Not one date. If you are not attracted to him... then that's it, don't lead him on. If a girl was not attracted to me but said yes to a date that would be a total mind f***. Don't do that to the poor lazy divorced smoker. You'll find non-divorce, single, physically fit, active lifestyle guys in 10 more weeks. Be patient, but be ready.

    Dating post-op..does it get easier?

I would wait to start dating after at least 6 weeks, when you can start eating pretty much everything. You'll be down 30-50 lbs your confidence will be higher, and you dont have to worry about not eating on a date. As far as telling him, I wouldn't. At least not until date #5. Personally I'm not trying to date anyone until I get near my goal. I'm on a mission for the next year, a goal to hit and I don't need any distractions, added stress, or complications right now. I say that now, and then 3 weeks later I meet the girl of my dreams watch: karma.

    Am i losing my mind?

Yeah I was like this too. Food is a comfort, almost a crutch. You have to break free of this. And at just 3 weeks post op, i feel like i have already done that. I mean you literally cant have food so its not even a choice early on. I had a craving for pizza the other day, actually every day. I just have a little marinara and some cheese and Im all good. And im talking 1/4 of a cup, fills you up. Just think, if you sacrifice just 1 year of food, only 365 days and get to your goal weight or damn near to it, at that time you can enjoy your italian food again. You are almost forced to eat small portions, and you never feel hungry, it's great, I was pretty nervous about my surgery, they gave me a zanax, and after waiting for 5 hrs at the hospital I was actually chomping at the bit to get it over with. total 180. You are going to be able to eat anything you want eventually, probably less than 6 months from surgery. Just make the small sacrafice of 6mo to 1 year and be physically fit for the rest of your life. Alright im done.

    2 week liquids-scared!

yeah thats all ever drink, i dont have the time or the patience to mix my own. I buy this one, http://www.mealrepla...ex-lite-review/ best tasting chocolate flavor i have tried a lot of different kinds too, and tons of protein. I buy it at my local grocery store which is Kroger, not online, but i haven't compared the pricing so maybe you could find a deal because they are kind of expensive. They way I look at it is that I don't eat a lot of food anyways so I might as well spend a little more on the food I do eat and make sure they are of superior quality.

pan fried filet with some olive oil. simple. used frozen talapia and salmon bought at the grocery store. water intake was normal, i did not add to or decrease my water consumption.
  19. I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on Sept 24th. Both Dr.s are great. Both have a lot of experience. All things being equal I went with Garcia because I saved $2,000. Nursing staff and hospital were better than expected. And the information package you get to take home is so helpful. But I think that was provided by Ready4aChange. About hair loss, nothing you do now will help you 6 months from now. Most people have hair loss because they do not get enough protein and vital nutrients. I am 18 days post op, no hair loss here. If you are on a pre op diet you are told to stop all supplements, just fyi.

    Hot all the dang time!

if you are hot then you are dehydrated and you need to drink more water. it happens just after surgery as well. Drink more water, it works.

    2 week liquids-scared!

I lost 15lbs in 10 days doing only fish for dinner pre op. it will work.
  22. drink more water and stick to 3 meals per day. no grazing. if you need something more between meals other than water then have a protein drink with little to no carbs. you can also hit the gym 3x a week.
  23. Chase30

    2 week liquids-scared!

my pre op diet was a protien drink for breakfast and lunch, and a piece of fish for dinner. Im not going to tell you to not listen to your suregons directions, but you don't need to do all liquids. Just low carb and high protein to shrink your liver.
  24. If your Dr cleared you for a marathon it does not mean you are ready. What was in your pureed diet? Soft foods is something you need to prep/train for in the pureed stage. I couldn't eat eggs for a while, I went back to oatmeal, and then I was able to tolerate eggs a few days later. Def keep challenging yourself but if you cannot tolerate it then take a step back. 2 steps forward 1 step back.
