    Vitamins after gastric sleeve

Hi ! During the first two months after surgery ( Gastric Sleeve ) I was prescribed liquid multi Vitamin drops ( Dalivit ) . I used to put 14 drops a day into my squash drinks. Now that Im 5 months post Op, I use Centrium Multi Vit and a nail and hair supplement too. My NUT advised me to take two multi vits a day as the body is unable to absorb nutrients in the same way, after surgery. Three months after surgery, I started to have quite significant hair loss but as predicted, the loss has now abated somewhat since I increased my Protein levels and added the extra vitamin per day. I would suggest that you ask your physician regarding YOUR particular requirements as age and medical conditions may have a bearing on your nutritional needs. Im 51 , so my needs vary to say those of a young woman in her thirties, etc. I wish you every success with your journey! x
  2. Whilst I was in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for the Gastric Sleeve procedure; the lady in the next bed to me had the same surgery and her consultant was Mr Sigurdsson. He was very professional and attentive . My surgeon was Mr Rink . If you,ve been offered surgery at Telford, take it hon! One things for sure.. no two surgery experiences are the same. Ive stayed in touch with the lady I met in the hospital and we share and exchange our experiences so far. I had a really rough time right after surgery , but she was sipping hot chocolate drink on the evening of her surgery!!! I couldnt even keep a sip of Water down for two days and had terrible retching. Since the initial few days ive been fine, but my friend has had a few problems ( fairly common ones associated with the surgery ) . What I would say to you is this.. if you are offered the procedure go for it! It,s not without its negatives but the positives FAR out-weigh those. Good luck. x :-)
  3. I had my surgery on Dec 12th 2013 , and about 6 weeks post Op I started having horrendous acid reflux and pain. This started mainly at night ( however , not due to eating too late as we have dinner at 5pm ) . It then became a problem during the day too , with just about anything I ate and drank! So, visited my Doctor and he prescribed Omeprazole , which I take twice a day. They,re brilliant and totally eradicated the problem. Acid problems can be a side-effect of having Gastric Sleeve surgery. Take care.. x
  4. The pain and nausea and dry heaving during the first two days after surgery. Also, the burning acid reflux im experiencing at the moment... and the stall at week 3! I dont even think about food in terms of it being an enjoyable experience anymore, either.. I eat to survive now. I see this as a positive though, not a negative. Im feeling better and fitter already .xx
