Yup - loved "Shaun of the Dead" too. Also a major "Family Guy", "The Simpsons", and "South Park" fan. My sister and I watch "CSI" every night and "What Not To Wear" on Fridays. Good heavens - don't those women have mirrors!

Has anyone heard anything? Her last journal entry was on the 7th.
-
I check her link all the time to see if there's an update - poor gal! Hope she's somehow doing better.
-
WOW! Thanks for the great link - I filled out the questionnaire and have my fingers and toes crossed!

I know what air does to your shirts/jackets while riding - my grey jacket puffs up so much somtimes that I look like the Stay-Puff Marshmellow Man!! Bike: 03 Suzuki Volusia Training: MSF safety course Gear: All the time - CA is a helmet state No accidents (knock on wood)

I also think where you live makes a difference: being fat + almost 40 + San Diego = invisible. Men and women look right through me almost like if they smile at me then they'll some how end up fat thru osmosis or something. I'm a size 18/20 now and that equates to gynormous here, especially since I live near a college and every young thing from around the country seems to live near me. Unfortunately that's part of the reason I am so heavy now - I went thru some really bad break-ups so I thought "what the heck - if I'm fat no man will want me and I won't get hurt again" - BOY, did that work! If only I could use that kind of determination for good and not evil, I'd be in my sexy clothes and actually have a life instead of spending my weekends holed up in my apartment eating my way thru the frig and watching hours of TV. Sigh.

I have a pair of Levi's 505s size 8 and a couple 9/10 Rockies that USED to fit, a pair of kick-butt tan suede pants in size 10, and some cute black pants from INC in size 10. Not to mention tons of kicken' boots I can't wear because my feet are so swollen. Some day tho - those cute clothes will be on my bod and not just hanging in my closet collecting cat hair. I hate looking in my closet and seeing what fits [--] and what doesn't [------------------]. Grrrr!

Let's see some favorites are Chance, Very Irresistible, Cool Water, and Red II.
-
LOL! Boy - let's hope he gets the right one or that'll be an akward moment at your b-day party!

I've seen the Magic Bullet advertised in a Robinson's-May flyer for $59.99 and you got another 15% off with the in-store coupon so check out some department stores like Foley's, Macy's, Dillard's, etc. They have sales ALL the time and it's a lot easier to exchange it if you have a problem and there's NO waiting for it to arrive - I hate waiting for mail-order stuff to arrive. I want it and I want it NOW. :banana

I want to get my hair straightened - I've got frizzy/curly/demon hair so I'd like to get the Japanese straightening done and have shiny straight hair for once in my life. I also want to get my teeth whitened - tho that'll involve dealing with a front tooth crown. I don't know if I'm going to wait till I reach a certain weight or my 40th b-day (May 4). As for my fat clothes - they're going to the Becky's House - a battered womens shelter. That's where I took all my nice suits and pants from the LAST time I lost weight.
-
I thought of another way to approach that issue - tell folks that you lost the weight by eating less and exercising more but you know someone you work with who got the lap band and she had great results. That keeps you from having to answer a lot of ackward questions, but "plants the seed" so to speeak, this way you can inform someone without having to reveal everything about yourself. I know I'm going to be one of those folks who only tells a very select group.

Hope you're feeling better. I know from experience that nausea can be caused by pain medication and made a whole lot worse if combined with other meds. I took a Vicodin before some LASIK touch-up surgery and they gave me Tylenol with codine afterwards and I was sick 1/2 an hour later. I've also taken other pain meds and they make me real queasy. Be careful with mixing medications - some of them really don't interact well.

Hi everybody, Long time lurker, first time poster. I've found this site to be invaluable! I've learned so much and I can't wait to get my band - I'm looking at getting mine done in TJ since my HMO's idea of WLS is duct tape! Just waiting for someone to pay back a loan and then I'm SO there! Time to get off the yo-yo dieting roller-coaster caused by my seeming ability to un-hinge my jaw like a giant anaconda and consume the entire contents of my fridge in one fell swoop. Also gonna get a treadmill and walk while watching TV instead of methodically eating non-stop while watching The Simpsons or whatever's on HBO. Not to mention the added perk of being able to exercise in the privacy of my apartment so my scary morning hair and faded Target sweat pants are only seen by my cat and Princess thinks I'm great no matter what I look like. Again - I love this site! Hugs to all of you and I hope to be joining the ranks of the banded soon! Fidget

What's Your Favorite Type of Pet?
Fidget replied to donali's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks - she is a super sweet cat. She runs to the door to greet me when I come home from work and loves to sleep on me during the night. I always get my pets from the Humane Society and I never go there unless I'm prepared to bring a new addition to the family home tho - I can't leave empty handed! -
I'm looking at losing 80-90 lbs. Is it scary to wish you "only" weighed 200 lbs? I remember when I first saw that number on the scale and I wanted to cry - heck, I'd kiss an armadillo to be that now!!

Here's pics of my little Princess. I got her at the San Diego Humane Society - actually she picked me. She's wonderful company and loves to snuggle up with me when I read. -
Hi Alex, Thanks for the encouragement. And yes - we do have fantastic weather - which is why I pay a fortune for a one-bedroom apartment. Yikes! Fidget

When you avoid walking between parked cars in a parking lot in case you get stuck between two vehicles When you evaluate a top on the basis of whether or not it's long/wide enough to cover your butt and not on if it's cute or not When you know the only date your gonna have on Friday night is with Ben & Jerry or Papa John When you start to forget what you really look like because you only glance at the mirror anymore

I watch it every week, too. I love the flashbacks so you learn more about everyone - clever - and the guy's evil lottery numbers last night was good.
