Hair Loss - A Harsh Reality. Picture of Loss.
mlowell replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I thought I was losing a lot of hair but I'm not compared to yours. I'm so sorry. Are you taking biotin? And I've been also using a hair repair shampoo with keratin. I think Suave makes it. -
It sounds like everyone is doing good overall. I am 5 pounds out from when I was the smallest the last time about 12 years ago. Started in a 20 and into a 12 right now.

I use my fitness pal. My doc didn't tell me to track either... I just do. Mainly started tracking for protein but obviously it does calories too.

I have been sticking to about 60g a day and 500-800 calories. Drinking my water... This last week I have been naughty because I started my cycle and was craving chocolate and salt. Over the past 3 weeks I have been bouncing between 170-173 pounds

Any nurses out there?
mlowell replied to karensdRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 3 weeks. Glad I did so I could get used to eating soft food before I went back. I work a busy Labor and Delivery unit -
I know how you feel. Craving salt and chocolate and made some bad choices this weekend. Starting straight today though.

My nut said if I have the shakes I can use them. But I wouldn't buy them again.... They are pricy and you can find a good alternative.

mlowell replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 months out and I struggle with water... Makes my stomach cramp and sits like a rock unless it's a cup full of ice with a little amount of water. -
almost 3 months out. just found out I have a kidney stone. anyone less
mlowell replied to nonfat22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your not having pain from the stone they usually aren't a big deal and docs don't do anything..... Unless it actually becomes painful. -

I have had dreams too of the same thing. One night I dreamt I was eating a whole big bag of Fritos and drinking a Pepsi. When I woke up I felt panicked because if the food I just "ate". Lol. There have been others too.

mlowell replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm joining in..... Confessing to: A delicious glass of wine at dinner ( I actually only had 5 sips) Movie popcorn last night (can u tell it was date night?!) I had a home made chocolate chip cookie I am going to say that I am proud of myself for not drinking the whole glass of whine, not eating the whole dang bag of popcorn, and only eating one cookie instead of 5 ???? -
Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
mlowell replied to janie2024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have read over and over to just keep on the diet plan and you will lose weight. From last week to this week I lost a pound......but I lost another inch in my waist and in my hips too. Also lost a half inch off my chest too. I think you should do your measurements and weight once a week -

One month post-op and feeling good
mlowell replied to mlowell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost a lot the first two weeks and then kinda stopped for a week and a half. -
One month post op and I am happy I am down 28 pounds, 7 inches in my hips, 7 inches in my waist, and 3 inches in my chest. Also down almost 2 pant sizes. I seem to be adjusting well to this so far and I just wanted to share. I have learned so much from this board on food options and ways to eat. Made the ricotta bake tonight.....YUM. And luckily so far I have tolerated everything I have tried to eat (well minus ff refried beans....those made me nauseated after 3 bites)

What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
mlowell replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We went to Applebee's for my daughters birthday on Wednesday for dinner. I got the Napa Chicken. YUM. I ate about half of my chicken (very moist), and like 2 slices of zuchinni and 2 slices of the portabella mushrooms that came with it. It also had mashed potatoes and I took 2 bites of them....they were so good. And I had another meal for work the next day. It had 25g protein in it.
