    Anyone In Southeastern Wisconsin?

I'm not sure if you would consider me local but I live in Antioch, Il. I just had my surgery December16 so I'm a little over 3 weeks out. Let me know where you live. If it's close enough maybe we can meet.

    Blegh to water

I like to float a couple of cucumber slices in my Water. It gives the water a nice refreshing flavor.

I ate a piece of pizza last night..... And I liked it!

I must be in the minority here but I certainly plan on having a piece of pizza at some point. I'm only a week post-op so it won't be for a while but I don't see anything wrong with eating a piece of pizza now and again. I just won't eat 6 or 8 pieces like I used to.

    Diarrhea vs Dumping Syndrome

I'm still watching the pattern but I seem to be having the same experience with any Boost or Ensure that I drink post-op. I'm 6 days out from surgery. Whenever I drink either of these two products (recommended by my doctor) I am in the bathroom about 30 minutes later. When I eat strained cream Soup or have a popsicle or broth I don't seem to have this problem. I plan to ask about it when I go in for my first follow up on the 26th. In the meantime, I try to avoid either drink, unless I'm not planning to leave the house. I learned that the hard way

    Books

I read Why We Get Fat and What To Do About It by Gary Taubes and thought it was very enlightening. It got a bit technical at times but I liked it. I would also recommend How Weight Loss Surgery Transformed my Body and Messed with my Head by Jen Larsen.

    TMI, bowel movements

TMI alert !!!! I am so glad to see this post. I'm 4 days post-op and was feeling pretty good so I decided to go to the store. OMG I actually couldn't hold it and I pooped my pants. I don't think I can stay in the house for the next week and a half until I go on pureed foods. Is there any option other than living on my toilet for the next 10 days?

how to tell other family and friends?

I'm struggling with the issue of who to tell and not tell about my surgery. I really don't want to hear other people's ignorant opinions and judgements so I had decided not to tell anyone, except my sister and a close friend. But now with Christmas next week I don't know how to handle all the questions about my eating at the big family get-together. I just had surgery earlier this week so I'm on a completely liquid diet. There will be nothing at Christmas that I will be able to eat and all sorts of tempting goodies I would rather avoid. I'm thinking about not going and just telling my family that I'm sick.
  8. I've tried puttting the crushed meds in just about everything on my post-op diet but they make everything taste so disgusting I can't eat it. These are pills that don't come in a chewable or liquid form. Any ideas?

    First Week Post Op

Wow, you weren't in the hospital for very long!! I had my sleeve on Monday December 16 and didn't get home until Wednesday the 19th. I had some chest, back and shoulder pain from the gas. The meds in the hospital helped quite a bit with that but I was also told to get up and walk around to release the gas. I also heard you should use Gas-X strips. I bought some but didn't have to use them.
  10. I'm already sick of the post-op liquid diet and my surgery was this past Monday the 16th of December. How is everyone else coping and what are you drinking?
  11. I had the same issue, discovered during sugery. I think this is fairly common.

December 16Th Sleeve Date, Who's With Me?

I was sleeved on Monday the 16th. I got home from the hospital yesteday afternoon and all I could think about was "what the hell did I do to myself"????? I could be out there enjoying all the Christmas goodies I keep seeing on TV, in magazines, and in the newspaper. Instead I'm stuck here drinking little sips of liquid food that taste horrible. I know i'm just feeling sorry for myself and I'll get over it. Anyone else having similar thoughts?

  14. I had my surgery this past Monday. Today is Wednesday, my first day home from the hospital and I feel really depressed. Did anyone else experience this and if so how did you deal with it?

    Possible Surgery Delay- Freaking Out!

My surgery is Monday!!! My surgeons office called me yesterday, Friday, to tell me that the 2nd round of blood testing was showing something unusual, that pregnancy was "indeterminate". It is not possible that I'm pregnant, I'm 57 and post-menopausal but nevertheless the Surgeon made me contact my Gynecologist and have her send a letter explaining why. It turns out the hormones I was taking (stopped almost 4 weeks ago) were causing the unusual results in my blood work. I was so worried that my surgery was going to get postponed that I was freaking out. Once you have been on the liquid diet for almost 2 weeks and just want to get the surgery over with its hard to imagine having it postponed or cancelled. On top of that I choose this time of the year (holiday season) as it would cause the least amount of suspicion about why I needed two weeks off work. My boss is so nosy I know she will be giving me the third degree anyway when she sees me starting to loose weight.
