I am a coaster junkie....I rode Everest 5 times in a row. I did the grand opening of it in March so it was not my first time. It is a great ride, now that all the bugs are worked out, when we were there in March it was still being "tweeked" and there were all sorts of audio problems, animation problems and the lights didn't work correctly. It is funny to do the pre-opening of a ride the mistakes in the que and in the ride are circled in white and red so they can be fixed. It's like riding a term paper after grading. My party did the rapids while I looped back several times on Everest. I was worried that if I did the rapids my shoes would be wet and wet shoes = foot problems everytime. I did pretty well considering the condition of my foot at the time. I took breaks often and propped my foot up when needed. The nurses station gave me ice for my foot during the fireworks so that was a nice break. I too and a total nut, I need a straight jacket but it would have to have Mickey on it. ~Mandy

We were at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary (our fave) there was also Minnie, Chip, Dale and Goofy. It's a really great buffet place with my fave scallop salad. I asked for the recipie when it arrives I will share it with you. The funny faces were a combo of pain and fatigue. I ran around the parks like I was a kid again. We opened a park each day and did the late hours each night it was exhausting but a blast. ~Mandy

It was my doggie that ran away, he was found by the oiginal owner and she decided not to give him back to us. Actually we found out that he was found by an outside source, she never intended to tell us. I adopted another pup today, she is a 14 month old Boston Terrier, just a doll. She is currently sleeping on the couch by my leg. She is a kissy freak, she licked my husbands entire shoulder, neck and head before he left for work today. She is also great at the house breaking, only one accident and it was because she was "lost" upstairs. She found the back door and that is where she goes to go potty now. She also leaves the cats alone, she has never been around cats before so she is affraid of them. I will take and post pics of her later. ~Mandy

I would like to request prayer for a fellow member's husband. Her friend posted this in another thread requesting prayers and I thought I would add it here to, there can never be enough prayer.

I emailed Kat's friend and ask her to tell Kat that we were praying for her and Rick. I also thanked her for updating us. Kat is lucky to have such a good friend right now. I am going to add Rick to the prayer request thread. ~Mandy

I think I would rather them go up my nose with a rubber hose, then to try something tribal like up my butt with a coconut. ~Mandy

Crystal, I am glad that you have Monica to support you through this. It is always nice to have someone that understands what you are going through. Please keep us updated, Mandy -
Crystal, I think I might have missed an update somewhere. What's next for you? Are we planning Pitunia's going away party? You were on my mind in Disney, I saw a family with an older teen son and they were really close, you can just tell sometimes. He was missing school and the parents were enjoying every second of him being there. It made me think of you and your spudboy, I don't know why but it did. I hope things are coming together for you. (((hugs)))~Mandy

I'm back from Disney and I had a great time. We rode everything and we had a blast at the Halloween Party. I took some pictures and I will upload them tonight. I came home with a sinus infection so I came back to cold, overcast weather and I got sick on the plane. I started Zithro today so maybe I will feel better soon. I will do personals and give more details tonight. (((Hugs))) to all, Mandy

Is that last 10 pounds extra skin? I know I am at 158 pounds and I want to be 145 my last 12 or 13 pounds are extra skin aound my torso. I have a huge rool of skin, I am in a size 12 but would easily be an 8-10 without the skin. All of my fitted pants are only fitted around my stomach, they are baggy everywhere else. I am totally happy with my loss. I just told my surgeon on wed that if I never lost another pound I have my life back and that made this band 100% worth it. ~Mandy

I ordergrilled chicken or shrimp and mashed potatos no gravy. I have only had one problem when the chicken was dry. I will also order meatloaf or sliced beef and gravy, pot roast or chicken tenders with extra lowfat ranch or blue cheese dressing. As long as I have "food lube" and take small bites I am fine. I also ask for a box as soon as my food comes, usually with the excuse that the portions are HUGE and I am just not that hungry. I am pretty open about being banded but there are a few that don't know about it. I also order off the kids menu if they offer something healthy. (Olive garden has grilled chicken with broccoli, cracker barrel has grilled chicken also. Or I order a burger with no bun, and have then add blue cheese to it, then I dip it in steak sauce and have it like a steak. I can do steak as long as it is a tender cut and cooked no more that med. The more you cook meat the more tough the protein gets. I don't care for bbq but have been able to eat bbq chicken and bbq beef ribs. (I never eat pork, it's a personal thing) I can eat about 3 bbq ribs and just make sure to have extra sauce when that is all that is available. My first "soft food meal" was meatloaf from Boton Market, it went down fine. I hope this helps. I am 14 months post-op as of yesterday and down 75 pounds. ~Mandy

Cindy, I did get a note from the doc so I can get a guest assistance pass. We have to get one for Abigale so I am aware of how great they are. We watch SpectroMagic from Casey's hotdogs. It is a great place to watch the parade and then stay for the fireworks. We have the footlongs for dinner and they are great from there and I am from the land of hotdogs, we are famous here for the Chicago style dog ya know. I got the dog with no bun and cut it up and have it with a small chili, also very good there and they have cheese sauce that is available for the chili as a topper, yumm. That is actually one of my fave counter service places in all of the parks, maybe cuz it has been there forever, I remember sharing a hot dog with my day in 1980 and they are exactly the same today as they were 26 years ago. I also love colombia harbour house, they have great fish. We are doing the Not So Scary Halloween Party on Monday, pray for good weather for us, that is tough to do in the rain, we have before and it was still great but we looked like drowned rats on the bus ride back to the resort. I will try to find you something good while I am there, maybe something with the new year of a million dreams logo on it. Hugs and kisses right back, Mandy

Ok, I am back from the doc and all of my stuff to get ready for the trip. I am all packed and ready for our ide tomorrrow to the airport. I saw the podiatrist today and I have a Neuroma, a huge one. He did a cortisone shot to get me through my trip and we will discuss my options next month, sooner if I see no improvement or I start to get worse. I love him to death, he was so sweet to me today, and he took a moment to say a prayer for me about my foot and for us to have a safe trip. My foot is hurting really bad from the shot but it is not as tender around the neuoma as it was this morning. I am glad for that, the shot pain will ease up by tomorrow I am sure. I will check in when I get back, everyone behave, be nice and workout, I know I will average 12 miles a day in the parks and with it being 90+ I will get in extra water. Hugs to all~Mandy

How does it feel when you are full?
piercedqt78 replied to shell04937's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is a bandster on here (can't for the life of me remember who it is) that gets an ice cream type headache when full. My nose runs and I know that I had better stop, I also have a single hiccup. ~Mandy -
Explaining the band to young kids
piercedqt78 replied to Goannabanda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I explained it to my daughter that I was going to have a band put inside my tummy so that I could eat less and lose weight. I stressed it would be inside so that she didn't expect it to be around my stomach on the outside. She now tells everyone that will listen that mommy had weightloss surgery. ~Mandy -
Here is some new info that I found very interesting. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060927/ap_en_tv/anna_nicole_smith_son ~Mandy

We ate at cheddars and the waiter had helped us before and remembered that my daughter likes Ranch for her fries. He also remembered that I can't have the broccoli casserole, it comes with the meal and he offered a sub, he also got a very nice tip. I went to Petsmart and returned the sweater that I had bought for the puppy, we have pretty much given up on finding him. When we return from Disney we are going to look for either a Pug or Boston Terrier or a mix of the two. I would also consider a shnauzer (sp?) I am looking for something less than 25 pounds that is good with kids and known to be a good family dog. I love the face of the pug and the ears on the bostons. I would love a little tea cup anything but I know that would be a bad choice with Abigale. We also looked into Italian Greyhounds, but they are soooo fragile and hard to potty train. Anyone have any other suggestions? We really want to get something soon, like before the weather gets too bad to really work on potty training. I would also like something to be "at home" here by the holidays. On a sadder note, I think my older cat is taking a turn for the worse. He has lost weight, that was a good thing, he was very heavy when we adopted him, but now he is getting too thin and he is looking really bad. I don't think he is going to make it through another Christmas, he is almost 9 and was overweight his entire life, he has spine problems but seems to be mobile with no pain right now, he has a history of bowel problems, but those are all resolved with better food and lots of Water. He is just not himself lately. I was putting laundry away this morning and he never even looked up at me, he is normally Mr attention. I guess age and the medical problems are taking their toll on his poor body. He is my baby and I will miss him terribly when he is gone. The vet says there isn't much we can do for him except keep him comfortable and give him lots of love, we might have another 4 months with him. It's hard to watch him slowly going but I know that the last 3 1/2 years have been good for him and I plan on making each and everyday just as good. Sorry to bring evryone down but I needed to vent. I am sure that I will feel better tomorrow, but today was rough on all of us here. On a brighter note I am all packed. I unpacked some of my capri's and repacked some shorts in their place. I was affraid that the capris would be hard to get over a cast. Oh and a huge NSV, I bought 12's for this trip and they fit. I also managed to wear and 11 1/2 in juniors today, they were stretch jeans but they fit and looked good. I will check in tomorrow after I see the band doc, I am going for a slight unfill, my allergies are acting up and I am a bit too tight, I can actually feel my band when I lay down or if I drink anything super cold. It's weird. I'll let you all know how it goes. ~Mandy

We were married Oct 28th 6 years ago, I agree Oct is a great time to get married. ~Mandy

I already have a note for a Guest Assistance pass (now only works for 6 total in the party) My daughter has some medical and psych issues and they give us a pass for her. I have a note for my foot from the podiatrist so that's not a problem at all. I will consider a wheelchair if the pain is bad. ~Mandy

Patty, I wish I was doing Disneyland.... I have never been there. I am doing 5 days in Disney World, we go twice a year. I am originally from Jacksonville FL so that is almost home for me. I cry everytime we have to leave, mostly cuz, I am comming back to Chicago usually frozen. In March we were there 10 days and it was in the upper 80's the whole time. We came home to lower 40's and icy rain. This time we are leaving 50's and arriving in Orlando in the 90's. I will want to stay this time too I am sure. My poor husband always has to deal with me crying at the airport. I am usually planning our next trip before we are even on the plane to come home. We are stuck here until dh retires in a million years. We are as far east as Union Pacific Rail Road goes and that is where he works. He wants to retire and move to Winter Garden FL and work for Disney as a conductor on the Disney railroad or run a monorail. When I am there I am totally happy, when I am here I am there in spirit. ~Mandy

I know that I have a ton more restriction when my allergies are acting up (like right now). I am going for a slight unfill tomorrow. I was tighter last fall too, I think my mold allergy seems to make a huge difference. I think it has something to do with mucus, swelling and my sinuses. ~Mandy
