I'm doing my sunday pot roast in the crock. Tomorrow instead of beef stew (with leftovers) I am going to shred it and make beef sandwiches, with swiss cheese. We are having a house guest for a week so I will cook everynight. He actually lives about 30 miles south of here but he is doing some training for work and it is north of us so he stays with us to save the insane commute. It saves him about 2 hours each way in the car each day. It's almost like he isn't here, he comes in eats dinner and crashes in my basement to sleep, he is up and out long before we get up each morning. So basically I have a few more towels to wash and a dinner guest each night for a week. My house is kinda like a frat house in that respect, our friends come here and stay when needed, our door is always open. There is usually food of some kind in the fridge and they all know where towels and such are. We have a friend that lives in FL and we have told him when they come to Iowa to visit family they should drop in for a day or two on their way home. He said, I'll call and make plans, I said nonsense, call and let me know you are on your way, I always have room for friends. So if anyone ever come to Chicago, I have a place for you to stay. I have a fully finished basement, with a beautiful fireplace and private bath. Just let me know.... I managed to rake the back yard today, it's not huge but that is a huge NSV for me. A year ago I would be struggling to breath, this time I raked and came in and cleaned the master bathroom. I took a shower and started dinner in the crock. I am getting ready to vaccum, and then cnahge the sheets on Abi's bed. I did mine yeaterday. I try not to change all the beds the same day, way too much laundry. I am going to be listing a bunch of stuff on Ebay later today, all of the American Girl stuff that Abi never plays with. I'm sad to see it go but she asked for some big stuff (size not dollar amount) for Christmas so we need the room. Also it will give someone a chance to get some very nice things that they might not ba able to afforad any other way. I know that her first American girl came from Ebay, I saved about $40 buying it that way. I have a huge bin of stuff to sell, I should be taking pictures right now, but I am hanging out here and drining my hot tea. Oreo is snuggld up so close to me I can feel her breath on my leg, she is soooo warm I hate to move her. She tried to get in the shower with me this morning and she stayed right with me in the back yard the whole time. She has become really attached to me, she is my little sweetie. I will check in again later. ~Mandy

She posted the Halloween list early because she was going to be away (i believe) for a week or so. It may have been something else, but I know it was a planned absence. ~Mandy

I have a tattoo in my ear also, not too bad at all actually. The lip isn't bad either. The side on the ribs is very sensitive. Also the sternum bone, where big girL has her tattoo is realy bad, ouch! I think my neck and feet have been my most painful so far, I am sure that when I get the rest of my back done I will have a new most painful place, I am told there are areas on the spine that really sting. I have a large lotus on the center or my neck, it wasn't too bad, but very little of it covers my spine. Guys are whimps when it comes to getting tattooed. I think that women sit so much better, unless they have a friend or boyfriend there, then they squirm for the attention. Having spent 10 years in a studio, I speak from experience. We had a policy, only the person getting tattooed was allowed in the room. ~Mandy

Big Girl Banded, the scar I am talking about will go all the way around my waist. I am having a lower body lift next year, it is a tummy tuck and then some. The scar basically is the same as a belly chain, all the way around, meeting up around the navel. I have the same band scars, plus my gall bladder scars. Add the lower body life scar and I will be a walking frankstien. ~Mandy

PB'ing can lead to this!!! Must Read!!

PB means productive burp, it is when food is eaten too fast, not chewed well enough or the band just doesn't like it, it comes back up in the form of a burp. There is no stomach acid therefore not vomit. It is almost like when a baby spits up, just the food that has recently been consumed comes back up. I for example can't eat rice and most pastas, that's a PB just waiting to happen. Too many PB's and a slip is possible, it's best to avoid pb'ing if possible. ~Mandy -
My sister has 4 kids and had to have a surgical poceedure for both of her last 2 pregnancies, no problems at all. Take care of yourself and the little one, stay around here, there are others that are pregnant or wanting to become pregnant that can benefit from your experiences. We are here to help anyway, support, friendship, whatever you need. ~Mandy

I can't feel the band but you can feel my port. As I get closer to my goal you can also see my port. It is a small lump on my upper stomach near my rib cage. ~Mandy

People are always amazed when they have known me for a while and then see my tattoos. I guess people think that tattoo ink makes people stupid, mean and not trustworthy. I love to get to know someone for several months and then let them see me in shorts and t-shirts. They are always dumbfounded. I love to tell people that I am a person of color, lots of colors actually. I think that it's funny how many people's minds have been changed my getting to know and trust me, then they see my tattoos. If they saw the tattoos first they wouldn't have taken the time to know me, and that's a shame cuz I'm a pretty great person. ~Mandy

If she isn't with the boyfriend where is she? I hate to be the one to say this but have you considered having her tested for drugs? Have you tried talking to the boyfriend about her staying at home? Is he planning on her finishing school if she moves in with him? Can he support her? Is he really asking her or is she just using that to throw at you? I got married at 18, still in High School but I finished with High Honors, and then opened my own business, the business did very well until the marriage fell apart, I sold the business and divorced the ex. It was hard being in school and being married, I didn't have much in common with the other students, instead of thinking about prom and football games I was working and paying bills. I couldn't go to study groups, I had a house to clean and dinner to cook. I missed out on hanging at the mall and shopping with friends. I learned alot from the experience, and it made me a stronger woman, but I regret doing it. Does he want to get married or just live together? I would talk to him, without her around and see what his intentions are. ~Mandy

I am getting notices again, I guess, that's good thing. Cindy, I feel for you and the chaos in the house. We had a bathroom remodeled last year before we moved here and we had no shower for 4 days. We were lucky to have my sister right around the corner, we showered at her house. I am planning a remodel of the bathroom here next spring, I picked out a jet tub yesterday, it's gonna be nice. We have one of those overlays in the bathroom now and I hate it, it looks cheap and didn't hold up well at all. Our home was a rental property before we bought it so everything was done cheaply, but we got a great deal so we can redo and upgrade the things that we don't like. We are redoing a bathroom this spring, and then adding hardwood floors the following year. I have carpet everywhere now and I really want hardwood in the livingroom, the hallways and the stairs. I am even considering synthetic wood in the kitchen. The only place with carpet will be Abi's room and the basement. When we redo the bathroom I am going to do real tile instead of the peel and stick crap that I have now. I am going to retile both bathrooms at the same time. The downstairs bathroom is only a half bath and other than the fact that there are 3 layers of peel and stick "tile" on the floors it is in great shape. I want to add a corner shelving unit for towels and stuff but that is simple and cheap to do. Oh the joy of remodeling. ~Mandy

I also believe that Dumbledore will and should remain dead. Kids have to learn to deal with death. Harry has lost everyone that has ever cared about him. His parents, Sirrus, and now Dumbledore. I think that Hagrid or one of the weasley parents are next. I do see dark times comming. I know that Malfoy is not going to turn good, JKR said in an interview that when Hermine called him a foul, dirty lothesome rat she was correct, that is what he is and that is what he will always be. Someone will redeem themselves, possible snape? I'm not sure. I know that 2 main characters were going to die, she decied to spare one and then added 2 more. So 3 main characters are going to die in the last book. I am guessing, Voldemort, Harry and either Hagrid, Neville, or a Weasley parent. I think that Neville might be the one that was spared. There was an interview with JKR and she said that her husband read the polt line of the last book and told her that is wasn't right. She has also said in an older interview that his favorite character is Neville. check www.mugglenet.com Tons of fun stuff there. ~Mandy

I am thankful for my family's support, they are really always behind me, in everything I do. I am thankful that my Abigale has been seizure free for almost a month. I am thankful for the little dog that is laying so close to me right now, just so she can smell my skin. I am thankful for Abi being able to play on the v.smile right now, 4 months ago she was frustrated with learning the abc's now she is beating the games. I am thankful for my husband, everyday he tells me he loves me more than the day before. And I can look in his eyes and tell that he does. I am thankful for my parents. My mom's health is poor, but she smiles and lives each day to the fullest. My stepdad is losing his hearing but he still plays with the grandkids and loves like everything is perfect. I am thankful for the teachers and staff at Abi's school. They are working with her to help her be a better student, and a more confident person overall. I am thankful that I am getting my teachers aid certificate in the sping and going back to work next year. I have a place in my heart for the special ed program, I know I can make a difference there. I am thankful for my band doc, he is the best. Without his support I would be lost sometimes. Of course I am thankful for my band, it has saved my life. I am thankful for my LBT family, and there are a special group that is always there, you guys know who you are. It may be strange but I am thankful for a certain neighbor, she always has a smile and a hug for Abi, she is like an extra grandma for her. I am thankful that my Hobbes kitty is not suffering anymore, he passed away from cancer last week and is over the rainbow bridge now. Last, I am thankful for my health, is not perfect but it is what I have been given, and like my mom I try to live each day to the fullest. I am thankful for the local animal shelter that brought us together with our new kitty, Billy, he is almost 30 pounds and is polydactyl. He also has a huge MIckey Mouse marking on his back. Already falling in love. I am sure I will have more, but that's all I have for now. ~Mandy

I have huge tattoos everywhere and none of them have changed. I have work on my shoulders, arms, legs, both feet and the back of my neck. They all look fine and I have gone from a size 22/24 to an 11/12. I am waiting on doing my lower bacl because I want to have alower body lift and I don't want to have a scar cut through my tattoo. My shoulder looks just like it did the day it was done (when I was 125 pounds over 10 years ago) I would say on the shoulder go for it. I have worked in a tattoo studio for almost 12 years and have never seen weight loss effect a tattoo on the shoulder or calf. The stomach and lower back can be effected but not always. ~Mandy

Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
piercedqt78 replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted 16's, that is when I noticed I was sitting with my legs crossed with no discomfort. When I hit 14's I could sit Indian style in the floor with my daughter with no pain. I am in an 11/12 now and I was laying in the floor a few days ago and my daughter decided to sit on me, she says I was more comfy to sit on when I was "fluffy" My hip bones now stick out and she says they are uncomfortable. ~Mandy -
I was told that caffine makes you dehydrated. If you drink 8 oz of caffinated anything you have to drink 16 oz of decaf to replace it. I still have regular coffee but have switched to decaf tea. ~Mandy
