    I am starving - stop me !

When the head hungry got to be overwhelming, I had some broth or some of the liquid from egg drop soup. I called the chinese place and ask, can you make egg drop with out the eggs? They did and the thicker broth was just what I needed. It has some corn starch in it to help thicken it. It felt like real food. Also make sure you are eating the broth and stuff in a bowl with a spoon, it tricks the body into thinking you are really eating food. Anything warm made me feel fuller longer. Try some hot tea, also a good clear protein can help you feel more full. ~Mandy

    dr. weiner making a deal?

Many doctors offer a lower cash price. I know that ped. that sees my daughter charges my Ins $140 for a visit, when we had no Ins a visit was $45. The other hospital may have lower fees, check the hospital reputation and make sure you are comfortable there, ask for a tour if necessary. ~Mandy

    water

I can't guzzle water like I could pre-band, it tends to fill the pouch and come back out my nose. I discovered this with OJ and have had the same with cool-aid and water too. I can take big drinks but the gulping water down is a no go for me. ~Mandy

    One reason to tell people

Preband, I would have dipped the cookie into the pudding, now I would have some pudding and toss the rest in the trash. I guess sweets just aren't worth it anymore. ~Mandy

    Attention Tattooed Lapbanders!

I think that most of my addicition came from working around it everyday. I got a huge discount on my work, the people that I worked with were like family to me. I am still very close to my artist, he's like a brother to me. It's hard not to have a full body suit since I was around it sooooo much. ~Mandy

    RE-USE of the FILL NEEDLE

how soon can I use a Spa and Pool?

Another option, band-aid makes a waterproof bandage, it is a latexy material that forms a seal around the area to be protected. I have used them to cover tattoos while healing so I could go swimming. (it is advised that you don't swim or soak a tattoo for 14 to 21 days) They are expensive but work well. ~Mandy

how soon can I use a Spa and Pool?

I would take a bath at home, but not in a public spa. I was allowed to take a real bath after 14 days. I was swimming in my families pool on the 15th day. I would be careful in the public pool/spa with stitches, there are chemicals and bacteria in there not to mention that is someone peed in it. ~Mandy

    RE-USE of the FILL NEEDLE

Seems strange that a doctor would hand you a biohazard sharp to take with you. I have worked in a tattoo studio and the health dept even have bandage requirements for us to follow. I think that the local health dept would want to know about this, also the hospital that he works in. Why did they give you a fill needle after surgery? Seems odd that the doctor doesn't have new sterile needles in the office. My doctor uses a new, sterile, single use needle each time he accesses my port. I would be affraid of a port infection if he did it any other way. I would also contact Inamed (maker of the band) and let them know about this practice. www.lapband.com . Good luck to you, ~Mandy

    need baby gift

I used tons of burt's products with my daughter, she has sensitive skin, we still use them. Do they have babies r us or walmart there? What about a gift card? Can you find out the sex of the baby? My daughter also lived in Old Navy sleepers, and Union Suits. I also bought tons of fleece blankets, pacifiers, those little hand covers to prevent scratches. I had several pair of nail clippers and would have liked a few more, I could never find them when needed. A nice insulated diaper bag or one with an insulated bottle carrier. What about something for mom and dad? A nice candle, or a nice picture frame? I enjoyed the bath gift set that I recieved and my husband loved the picture frame that my sister gave us, it is on the entertainment center with our first family portrait in it. There are some things that are universal, sleepers, onesies, pacifiers, blankets (fleece is a fave of a lot of moms), diaper bags. There have been some great suggestions here. Also consider, making a gift basket of small inexpensive things, nail clippers, hand covers, pacifiers and clips, a few neutral hats and socks, some baby sized clothes hangers, and some small rattles and such, inexpensive but needed items. ~Mandy

    Parent/Teenager Poll

My neighbor's son was threating to move out all the time. She moved him out into the back yard in a tent. She bought some of those Meals ready to eat deals and let him stay out there for several days. He was begging to move back in, and he followed the rules from then on out. ~Mandy

    November chat...again....

Patty, our IEP meeting is thursday. You say a prayer for me and I'll say one for you. I have a list made of what I want to discuss, and I plan on staying on track with that list. I had the first meeting several weeks ago and did't prepare myself, I got off track and ended up not covering everything I wanted to cover. I also have a parent teacher conference today, I am sure I will walk away with more stuff for the list. It's good to see that dad is involved, and the two of you can be civil for the kids sake. I'm glad to hear the account is straight, it is always difficult when someone steals from you, I know when my car was broken into, I felt very very violated. Remember that it was only an account, they were never in your personal space. I had to keep telling myself it wasn't personal and they were never in my home. I was a random target and so were you. Chin up girly, things are gonna get better and better... (((hugs)))~Mandy

    Parent/Teenager Poll

Hunnybun, I owned a tattoo studio with my ex husband and have worked in another studio in the last 10 years. I love doing piercing but with a 5 year old working until midnight several nights a week just isn't gonna happen. I am getting a teachers aid certification first of next year, I want to work with special needs kids. I will still work in a tattoo place for the summer, and do some appointment only work for my regular clients. ~Mandy

    Parent/Teenager Poll

Here if you pierce anyone under 18 you can be charged with statitory rape. Even if the parents are there signing the papers, a cop can press charges. Tattooing anyone under 18 is a felony in IL, it used to be 21 but they dropped the age to 18 and made the punishment for breaking that law much tougher. I have pierced a few under age kids, I know the parents and they were ok with it, but these kids were 17 and it was a navel. At least a piercing can be removed. Cloe, I bet if you call the police they will tell you a different age for piercing. Can kids there get their ears pierced at the mall at 16? I know it's 18 for that here too. ~Mandy

    November chat...again....

We were at Disney and I was going to let a little one fly on a ride thinking that we would leave it behind. I let it slip out and didn't say a word, DH would never let me live it down. Just as I let it out the ride came to a stop. We had eaten a chili dog for lunch and it was horrid. We were stuck there for several mins when DH looks at me and says with a shit eatin' grin, I think they stopped the ride cuz somebody died.....I hit him in the arm and we sat there cracking up, talk about Disney magic, it'll get ya busted everytime. ~Mandy

If you are uncomfortable or feel too full, try eating less more often or just eating less all together. Some people experience more swelling than others do. I was able and ready to eat more solid foods pretty quickly, but my girlfriend was 3 weeks on liquids with no complaints. Each person heals at their own pace, maybe you are a bit more swollen try thinning down the soup or simply eat less. ~Mandy

    November chat...again....

I was on thin liquids for 7 days, they had to be thin enough to go through a straw. Your doctor should have given you a diet to follow. What does that diet say? I was allowed a certain amount every hour. I can't remember exactly how much it was but it wasn't much. Week 2 I was allowed to progress to mushies, mashed potatoes, chunky soup that had been pureed, pudding, guac and the like. Then a week of soft foods, then regular foods. You need to check with the doctor as to what you should be eating. ~Mandy

What size are you and what is your goal size?

Don't get me wrong, I love where I am and how I look, I just hate the extra skin. I am having to tuck it into my pants and I have to be careful not to zip it up in the zipper. ~Mandy
  24. piercedqt78

What size are you and what is your goal size?

I started in a 22/24 and am currently in an 11/12. I would love to see an 8 and think I would be close if I had the extra skin removed. I am talking to a plastic surgeon after the first of the year. We will see what he and the insurance says. ~Mandy

    Parent/Teenager Poll

Carlene, I can see why you have a problem with this girl, maybe if she spent a bit more time in a more stable home she would be better, happier? I know that I have a 17 year old niece that gives her parents fits, she's an angel at my house. Sometimes it's the home life not the kid. As for the piercings, I have my tongue pierced and it is barely visible. At least it's piercings and not home made tattoos. By the way it is illegal in most states to pierce anything other than ears on anyone under 18, even with parental consent. I am a body piercer by trade and know the law can be very strict. ~Mandy
