I have stupid question, I do about 25 mins on a treadmill everyday, at a midrange pace, any idea how far I'm walking? I am getting a total gym (the one kristie brinkley and chuck norris sell on TV. I got it off craigslist, for get ready for this $35. Those things sell for like $1500, and it has all the videos and manuals with it. I pick it up tomorrow afternoon, I used birthday money from my mom. WooHoo!! ~Mandy

I use the powder and use less than it calls for. I make it with 2% or fat free milk. I use the chocolate and blend in a tablespoon of peanut butter or a banana. I make the vanilla with frozen berries, or strawberry or chocolate milk mix, nestle makes sugar free. The powder is cheaper and you control the strength. ~Mandy

I would chose the Isopure, it is lower in fat. It was on the list from my doctor, he told us to avoid the muscle milk, too many calories and too high in fat. I also did the atkins shakes. ~Mandy

Sounds like Oprahs show, they get all the cool stuff that she is giving as gifts for the season. Last year, it was $175 jammies, $125 slippers, Ipods, phones, cologne, perfume, gift sets, clothes, shoes, cheesecakes, liquor, dishes. I wanna go on Dr. Phil, but Oprah is sooooo close. ~Mandy

I missed it, I was at school making cotton candy. (I know I should be in bed, not out making cotton candy) What did they give away? I wanna be on the Oprah's favorite things at Christmas time, have you even watched THAT show? ~Mandy

Back from the urgent care...I have a double ear infection, a sinus infection and an upper respiratory infection. If I am not radically better by sat, I have to have another chest x-ray done. I have some murkiness in my lungs, but not enough to diagnose pneumonia (sp?). I am on antibiotics, a couch suppressant and a decongestant. I am off to bed. See y'all tomorrow. ~Mandy

1.) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up 2.) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. Five Minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house. 3.) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine. 4.) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It! 5.) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing (refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing). 6.) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake. 7.) Thanks: A woman is thanking you - do not question or faint. Just say you're welcome. 8.) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying F@!K YOU! 9.) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking, "what's wrong? " For the woman's response, refer to # 3.

The whole city isn't shut down, this is semi-normal. Usually in Dec and Jan. It's usually ice in feb, not all the %&^* snow. I like the fact that it's not sub zero anymore, but I could live without the snow. I took the pictures so that those of you in warmer climates could see it. I also sent them to my sister, she's in west virgina, and was complaining about a little snow and some cold temps, it's in the 40's there (ha, we swim when it hits 40) ~Mandy

Anyone wanna come and shovel snow with me? http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/piercedqt78/snow007.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/piercedqt78/snow006.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/piercedqt78/snow005.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/piercedqt78/snow004.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d174/piercedqt78/snow003.jpg The block that you see in the last photo is where I have shoveled some of the snow away. We have drifts of 4-6 feet, and wind at up to 40mph. But on the bright side it's in the 20's today. And yes my neighbor still has her manger scene up and she lights it up everynight. ~Mandy

Have you considered going to counseling alone. Amazing things happen when one improves, most of the time the other wants to improve themselves also. I would talk to your husband and tell him that you need this for health reasons, not vanity reasons. There is a study going right now about couples that have problems after weightloss or other major life changes. I know my husband was worried about me leaving after I lost the weight. I am still here and only 15 pounds from my goal. I love him more than ever, only now I can enjoy time with him without the extra weight. He still worries that I will leave, and sometimes jokes that as soon as a younger, hotter guy comes along I will leave. (not gonna happen) He didn't want me to have surgery, but now that I have, he is happy for me and proud of my weight loss. I wish you the best, it's hard to do this without support, and even harder to do with someone directly fighting your chances. I hope you are able to work this out. ~Mandy

We have no school today, 40 mph winds, and snow drifts. I let my doggies out this morning and they disappeared, they were over their heads in snow. It has drifted over 4 feet deep on one side of my yard. I have a privacy fence, and it has nowhere to go, so it's all piled up. I am going to the urgent care today. I didn't get to the doctor yesterday, they were booked solid. Today the it's moved into my lungs. So to recap, it's my sinuses, head, throat and now my lungs. I have a fever, and a horrible headache. Even loritab didn't help my head. I am going to the urgent care so they can give me an IV, with antibiotics and something for the headache. I haven't been this sick in a very long time. I will check in later. ~Mandy

Betty, unfortunatly I'm not sick again, I am STILL sick. I was feeling better but never 100%. Seems to be coming back with a vengence. ~Mandy

I do have a small soda every now and then. I just swirl it around in the glass until some of the fizz is gone and then drink it slowly. ~Mandy

Giving pics to surgeon's office....
piercedqt78 replied to anonemouse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would take a front view and side view, full body, with your arms at your sides. The doctor might one day want to use you in some before and after shots. They might also want to submit them to the insurance. I would take current, clear photos, and keep a copy for yourself, a journal is such a great tool. I know that I have taken photos along the way, and I'm glad I have them. I know that my doctor has several before and after shots that they show at the seminar, and also have on the website. -
First off, it's funny that you posted this under exercise....LOL. I was told as long I it didn't hurt and I wasn't lifting or pulling my abs, I could proceed. If it hurt stop and reposition. Just make sure you are using protection, weightloss makes women very fertile. By the way, sex is a great way to burn calories. ~Mandy

It's almos 3 am and I am up....I have an extemely sore throat. My left ear is hurting and I think I am coming down with the flu....ugh!! I am going to call my pcp in the morning and insist on being seen. I can't believe I am getting sick again. I took the advice of my doc and started drinking a glass of OJ each day, didn't seem to help. I know I have a sinus infection and I am pretty sure my ear is infected. Hubby says my throat is very red, and looks bumpy....strep??? UGH, I need sleep but took some sudafed, so I am gonna be up for a while. I considered nyquil, but am home alone (hubby's working) and I didn't want to be knocked out with Abi home. It's also snowing here again....we got about an inch in the last hour and it's still coming down. We already have 5 or 6 inches on the ground from the last several days. Will it ever melt? Will Spring ever get here? I hate the snow, it was pretty the first few days, but enough's enough. We didn't even have snow for Christmas, but we are going to have it for valentines day....there is something extremly wrong with that. I will check in tomorrow, if my head hasn't swollen and fallen off from infection....~Mandy

Pre OP or Post OP - Most important thing you have learned!
piercedqt78 replied to CoolBrze198's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And chapstick...I forgot to pack it and ended up spending the night. All the nurses had was glycerin (sp?) swabs...yuck. My lips were dry and I wanted chapstick. ~Mandy -
What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
piercedqt78 replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am almost 19 months post-op and I am at 1.6cc in my 4 cc band. I was at 1.8 and that was too tight, so I went back to 1.4 for several months, then we met in the middle at my last fill. ~Mandy -
Pre OP or Post OP - Most important thing you have learned!
piercedqt78 replied to CoolBrze198's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-op....the diet doesn't last forever and I will/did eat again. Post-op....sleep in a recliner for the first few nights, it's easier than trying to get up in the AM. Resume food slowly, and chew everything very well. Learn to savor the way food taste, you only get to eat a small amount. The weight will come off, not over night but it does happen, sometimes in inches not pounds. Learn to love your body, every step of the way. Keep a Journal and take loads of pictures. ~Mandy -
Wow what a difference. I can see it....~Mandy

The really sad thing is I think she truly loved Howard, if you watch the way she looked at him on the show. She was like a little girl with a huge crush. She depended on him for everything. ~Mandy

I was swollen from the PB's and the reflux. I also tried reglan, with a little success, but not enough. I actually lost weight because I was able to get in 1200 calories a day. If I get below that I gain, and if I get over 1500 I gain. It's a delicate balance with my little band. I am having sugar free (less than 150 calories) french vanilla coffee, instead of creamer I use vanilla protein powder. I still can't eat in the am, even though it's almost 1, I have a head cold so it's one meal a day right now. I don't have TOM (I'm on Depo) so I'm not sure how that would be for me. I am coming off depo, I didn't do my injection that was due last week, I am having my tubes tied, or possibly a hysto, so I wanted to get off the Depo. I'm told that I will drop 10-15 pounds just from getting it out of my system. I can't have any more children and am really happy with having just one anyway, so this isn't a huge deal for me anyway. I will be back later today, I'm going to take a hot shower to see if I can breath again. ~Mandy

Do you call your pet smtg other than its name?
piercedqt78 replied to Wheetsin's topic in The Lounge
These pups sound just like my two. My female, Oreo (18 months old) is all hyper, jumpy and loveable. She was adopted from petfinder.com she had been dropped, twice by the same owner, he no longer wanted her and didn't want to tell the kids, so instead he told them she ran away. He is being charged with animal neglect and cruelty. She is a crazy little girl , loves to sleep under the covers and has never met a stranger, but HATES squirles, birds and rabbits. She also chases the cats. Then there is Harley, he is heavier, older just over 5, more reserved. He can be just as hyper, and crazy but is much less trusting. He was also neglected, and also abused. He hates the groomer, but allows me to bathe and clean him. He is forever loyal, and I believe would die to protect any of my family. He is my barker, hates the mailman, people walking on our street, and basically anyone that is outside of our house. He is also very protective of our car, when we go for rides. If someone walkes by the car in a parking lot, he is all upset and ready to defend the car and his humans. Seems they are extreme opposites, they are my little yen and yang. ~Mandy -
My hubby has problems with acid and he takes aciphex, it's an acid reducer. He knows that when he works a bunch of night shifts in a row he is going to have problems, and takes it for a few days. It really helps. I'm sorry you are having such a touch time with all of this, I strggled with reflux for 8 months before finally going in for a slight unfill, then I had to have a 50% unfill, I was so swollen because I had let it go for so long. I am back to 75% of the originall fill, Going back to where I was in Sept was still waayyy to tight. I'm prety tight now but can keep down solids, I just have to be reallllly careful when what and how I eat. Hope you get results and relief soon. ~Mandy
